Kingdom Hearts: SfE Part 2 - The Final Keyhole and the Mark of Mastery

"Just a bit more running, Sora!" Kairi shouted, running after Eden.
The cat Heartless crawled up behind Valerie. For some reason, it didn't feel like attacking the girl.

 

Sora sighed, following after Kairi in a jog. Valerie noticed the heartless cat, curiousity taking over. "Hey there, little guy. Where are your non-violent buddies?"she asked.

 

Ellen followed suit behind, staring at Valerie. "Thats was weird....But any this is Icki, I don't where I was, but Im back. So people turning into heartless, not good." Ellen gave a sarcastic laugh. She looked back to find Icki gone, but then looked to her other side and found him right beside her running with ease.
"I'm just a third wheel for now." he put his hands in a defensive way. He didn't want fight, especially with his sword knife; though it could cut through anything. He just wanted some information from these people.

 

"Well, nice to meet you..."Valerie picked up the heartless cat, hoping it was friendly. "We should probably catch up with Eden and the others before they get in trouble."she said, realizing they had been left behind.

 

The cat Heartless looked up at the girl from her arms. It couldn't understand why she didn't attack it, and even more, it couldn't shake the feeling that, somehow, it knew the girl.

 

Sora had to stop to catch his breath, the baby moving around as if to tell him to stop running. "D'aaaaaw. Baby giving you troubles there?"Valerie went over to Sora, still holding the cat heartless. "No, I'll be fi-what is that?"Sora looked at the heartless cat. "Its a kitty. I shall call him.....kuroneko."Valerie said.

 

The Heartless flicked its ears at the two humans' conversation. He could feel a light coming from the girl, but it was different from that coming from the others. It was if it was receiving some of the light itself.

 

Sora heard rustling in the trees. "Oh no, not more heartless..."he groaned. Valerie seemed to hug the cat heartless tighter. Neoshadows and a Large Body appeared, Neoshadows growling. "Oh great..."Sora summoned Oblivion. Valerie was about to take out her dagges when she realized...they were missing. "Where did they go?!"she was a bit suprised that her dagges had vanished...until she remembered that she had been a heartless, and she couldn't magically make her daggers appear...yet.

 

Eden noticed some other Wyverns fleeing to get their own tiny meal, which happened to be the little golden brown haired boy Eden tried so dearly to protect. But she had done so too late, as the swarm of Wyverns tore his being apart, snapping for the heart until one won. "No..." she whispered with fear. "No no no no no."

The cat Heartless jumped out of Valerie's arms, and landed neatly on its four dark legs. Its ears were turned back in warning, its eyes narrowed. If it had fur, it would be standing completely on end.

 

Suddenly as a response to the cat heartless more heartless appeared, Red Nocturnes, Blue Rhapsodies, and Yellow Operas. "Uh-oh."Valerie tried to see if she could magically summon her daggers, concentrating hard. "Oh boy..."Sora huffed, noticing the heartless cat. I wonder if thats....maybe.

bic: Eden went into a fit of rage, the keyblade responding to her, returning. The Wyverns greedily attacked her, trying to consume her heart as well, only to explode in flames or be destroyed by the keyblade. "You will NEVER get my family ever AGAIN!" she screamed, though more animalistic.

 

OOC:You just fueled my nightmares for the next week, girl.

 

The Heartless jumped at the newcomers. It didn't know why it was protecting these humans, which should be its prey; it felt like it was in its instincts to protect them. It missed attacking a Yellow Opera. Two more Heartless joined the enemy - a Red Nocturne and a Blue Rhapsody - forming a triangle shape. They attacked at once, a tri-attack of fire, ice, and lightning, hitting the cat Heartless dead on.

The cat Heartless crouched on the ground. Dark smoke floated from its wounds, and drops of black blood hit the ground, leaving small green flames. It knew it wouldn't be able to fight any longer, but it had to protect the two humans.

 

"No!"Valerie gasped, picking up the cat heartless. She was glad that there were good heartless other than the mushrooms, and she wanted to save this one. The neoshadows noticed Sora fighting off the Large body, taking the chance to pounce the girl. Valerie screamed, a barrage of thunder spells striking them. Sora gasped at the screen, the Large body being slayed. "Valerie!"he grew concerned for the girl.

 

The Heartless could feel a warmth in his chest. Light... in my heart...? It could feel the light grow stronger, closing its wounds. The light overwhelmed it.
A shock wave of earth and dust flowed from the two, obliterating all Heartless in its path - the combined power of both of their hearts. A dark flame sank into the ground and disappeared as the light faded, leaving Jeffrey in Valerie's embrace, with no memory of his time as a Heartless.
He opened his eyes to the sight of Valerie's face. "Oh, hey, Val," he stammered, his face turning red. "How did this happen?"

 

"Long story short, we apparently were heartless ambushed during our Elixir high!"Suddenly Valerie's daggers came back to her magically. "Finnaly! I missed you two!"she smiled. Sora saw that Jeffrey wasn't as beat up as Valerie, especially with Valeries chopped hair. "Now to just find Riku..."he sighed. A Wyverns cry pierced the silence. "gaaaaah! That's getting annoying.."valerie beat her sore eardrums. "It's getting closer..."Sora frowned.

 

"'It' being...?" Jeffrey asked, turning his head towards the sound. He unsheathed his katana, placing both hands on the hilt. "Well, I'm not sure if I want to know..."

 

Eden stared up at the Wyvern, her heart somehow feeling a tug to it. Her keyblade pulsed at her side, as if trying to contemplate how to take care of this more dominant heartless in comparison to the others. A few memories flashed back at her, as she realized how her broken memories must've still been in his heart. "I think... if any heartless is Riku, then that must be him."
