After her pretty much outright stating him learning to read was basically going to become a mandatory lesson... he couldn't even stand the thought of it. It wasn't like he didn't want to learn, it's that he couldn't. He had tried and it wasn't working. He crossed his arms and looked her dead in the eyes and asked with much more of an aggression than he intended, "And what if I just outright refuse? I mean I certainly don't mind the idea of sitting this out entirely but it doesn't seem like you'd all be fond of that idea."

With heavy breaths, Chrono felt his body ache after the repetitive battles. Even if the battle themselves were all that challenging, the problem came how much he had exerted himself in the earlier fights. This being his second time using his drive form too and it was easy to tell that he wasn't completely used to being in it. "End Simulation." While he couldn't speak for the others, he knew that he wouldn't last much longer if they kept to the next battle.

He wasn't going to be able to keep up this bluff long at all, and he was sure she knew it too. Especially when he brought up his friends. He finally looked away from her, though his arms were still crossed. Then the boy just looked like he gave up and asked, feeling embarrassed to,"You don't... have any suggestions that would help with learning... do you...?" if she went at him with some sort of snark or was just outright dismissive he was gonna be out of there real quick with no intent to acknowledge her after that.​

Aria was panting heavily when the simulation suddenly ended, almost making her stumble forward. She felt disappointment swell inside of her and her shoulders drooped. "Aw, we didn't make it?" She slumped in place, frowning deeply as she tried to catch her breath. It was a disappointment to her that even with the four of them there, they weren't strong enough to go all the way through. Normally she wasn't the swearing type, but she felt some choice words coming on. "Fudge... sticks..." She sat on her bottom in the now white room, pride hurt and a little mad at herself. One of their teammates hardly did anything, if anything at all, but that probably wouldn't matter.

 

Boreas remained wary as Illiana and Torrin unleashed their wrath on the Demon Tower, he felt bad for not contributing but he hadn't much left in him to keep going. Their wrath took out the Demon Tower, their surroundings changed once more to a place he still didn't recognise, this had all gone on without him and from what he understood this had all taken place over but a handful of days. It showed him only little of what transpired before he joined, their foe was easily spotted among all this treasure, he took a quick glance at the coins but didn't recognise the design. Their foe charged them and while Illiana and Torrin got away no such luck for Boreas, he stood his ground with his glaive hoping the blade would deter the monster but it just brushed the blade away and while it cut the monster, it did not stop it from back handing, Boreas sending him sprawling into a pile of coins, his vision swam as darkness crept up from the edges of his vision. This was it, the end of the line for him, he had given it his all against these monstrosities, he'd had given his blade to this war only for the blade to not return home.

That same dream replayed itself the look on his mothers face stirred something within him, no he wouldn't let Torrin deliver that letter, even if he had asked it of him he had to get up, he pushed himself up from the coins, pain flared through his muscles, his breath was ragged, he summed his keyblade to his hand as it had been thrown from his grasp several feet from him, he shifted it to the Glaive-guisarme form and used the haft of it to support himself as he got to his feet. His legs shook with the effort to keep him up, it was a miracle he was still standing. "This is it.... the final fight... we made it this far. We laid low mighty foes... this is but the last that bars us from victory... If we give it our all we might prevail here... One final push is all it takes... so let us look inside ourselves... look to who we fight for and why... so we might have the strength to seize the day..." Boreas said, as he looked to the glowing banner, he saw the banner of House Thessalian, his family and it gave him strength, he shifted his blade into the Pernach and gave one last charge with a wordless cry he slammed the blade into the spindly legs of the great beast, hoping he might bring it down to make it easy prey.

Boreas used Inspiring Presence and attacked.​

Illiana went into Fledging Form! Illiana cast Cure twice on Boreas and cast Hastega on herself! Illiana used Dodge Roll!!

 

After getting a small lecture from Master Kaio, Lumen gulped when he finished talking. This was a whole different game. Master Sanda would never train him like this, he knows there is a lot at stake but it seemed that some people take it too seriously. A couple thoughts went through the boys mind that kinda scared him a little when Master Kaio was talking; Lumen was hurt by those words. He knew he wasn’t weak or stupid and he did respect those who was here before them, but it looked like the master didn’t quite understand him as much as he originally thought. When the man started to walk over to one of the other chambers Lumen then whistled to Kosmo, who was comforting Qamar for a short period of time, to summon her. The dragon leaped onto his shoulder as the boy stood up and sneaked up the stairs and out of the basement.

Arriving at the center area of the castle Lumen took a little breather from that while shaking his head from all the stuff that happened. “Well... that wasn’t pleasant at all... I think I’ve had enough ‘simulation’ training today. Time to speak with Master Aster.” The boy said to himself but also letting Kosmo hear his opinion. She chirped at him for a second as she looks around on where to go, which then got Lumen to do the same thing as he finally spoke the words. “Uh... Only problem is; which way do we go?”​

Chrono too shared the frustration his teammates felt. Not only out of five rounds had they only managed to complete two, but by the end of the first one, he had practically exerted himself which only made going onward a harder task. It had been to the point in which Enzo's question didn't even register in his head with on where exactly he went wrong.

Kaios word didn't exactly help, not that he thought they were supposed to, and really only just added to the annoyance he was feeling. Easier said than done. Had been what he thought. It wasn't like he'd perfectly mastered using his drive form after getting some help from Master Thallasa. All he'd gotten was an actual idea on how to use it compared to having no idea on what to do. Not that that would change how Kaios felt, which lead to what Chrono actually said. "If sounding condescending and talking down to us and your way of training, then I doubt it's going to be more painful for you." Said under his breath of course.

 

Qamar nodded at Lumen, "Thanks" she muttered, feeling the healing effect washing over her. Before she could react, however, she was knocked hard against a wall. Her vision blackened and she woke shortly after Lumen to hear Master Kaio lecturing them. He mentioned her being strong with no defenses, but she simply averted her gaze. She was strong and that's all she ever wanted. She wanted to be strong so she could protect her comrades, not be weak and end up having them killed in the end. Sure that sounded stupid, but she was set in her ways and wouldn't change her mind. Already knowing what to do and not wanting to further anger Kaio, she glanced to Lumen who decided to pipe up.

A grin was on her face as she gave Kosmo a little head scratch, liking that Lumen was brave enough to speak against Kaio. She hummed to herself when Kaio retorted, leaving her with a frown. "I'm neither weak nor stupid." she simply stated, watching Master Kaio lay into the group that came out next. Qamar heard a whistle and saw Kosmo hop back to Lumen, the boy leaving the basement. She finally stood up and dusted herself off. Looking onwards, she decided to leave the basement as well, fearing she'd say something Kaio would probably make her do chores for. Thyella was somebody she never dared to talk back to.

Quickly walking up the steps, she found Lumen and wondered if maybe he was upset with Master Kaio. Deciding to try and surprise him, she tried to whistle in the same way to get Kosmo to come to her once more. "You look kinda lost. Do you need a tour now?" she joked, walking up to Lumen.​

 

Still looking around on where he should go, Lumen searched at either the stairs or hallways, this castle messed with his mind a bit; despite Master Varos’ directions. Kosmo was also looking around to help the boy when she heard a familiar whistle to Lumen’s, but she knew the boy didn’t whistle it because she was on his shoulder. Turning her little head back the dragon chirped with glee to see Qamar walking to them, so she leaped out and glided to the girl like with Lumen before. Wondering where she went, Lumen looked over to see her on Qamar and gave a smile of delight to see her with Kosmo. “Heh... Yeah, I actually might, given my certain circumstance.” Lumen said to tag along with the joke which made him chuckle a bit. Then he scratched the back of his head and asked the girl, “I’m just trying to find where Master Aster is. And I’m to guess you know these halls better than I do.” He wondered if he wouldn’t be surprised by her every now and then, though the boy knew that wasn’t gonna happen. Kosmo was nestled up by Qamar giving more affection, she was happy to make another person happy besides Lumen, though she wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for the boy.​

Aria smiled a bit when Enzo addressed her as Rainbow instead of her name, but that smile was lost when Master Kaio entered the room and shared his thought on the matter. "Master Gero is not soft on me," Aria insisted, bringing herself to stand up and resisting the urge to argue forcefully. "No one is. I'll get stronger, just watch and see. There won't be any more mishaps like this again." Aria clenched his fist tightly and then made her way past Master Kaio, wanting to get out of there. She looked back to the boys, forcing out a sigh to calm herself down. "We're inside the simulation room, Enzo. You can leave any time you want, or start your own simulation on your own. I'm going to go for a walk to clear my head." With that, Aria made her way past the haughty master, not in the best of moods. She didn't even acknowledge Take talking with the other master. Aria was seeing red, her day not starting out too well to begin with because of the nightmare and now having an embarrassing performance in front of the masters to add on top of that, she needed some fresh air.

When she was out of the basement, she started to jog, running to the castle doors. Her pace picked up as soon as she reached the outside and she started to run hard. She hadn't gone on a run in a while and she pushed herself, her eyes stinging with tears. Today really wasn't her day. Her lungs began to burn along with her legs as she pushed herself eventually coming to the lake near the castle and then slowed down to a trot and then stopped all together. Aria was panting and looked all around her, searching for a rock or a stone. Spotting one, she picked one up and chucked it as hard as she could with a shout, watching it sail across the lake and plop in the water. Aria then yelled out in frustration and paced in place before grabbing her head and crouching down in place. Silent tears began to roll down her cheeks as all the emotions from today swelled within her and bubbled over. She didn't want to be the weak one, she didn't want to be coddled, nor did she want to be the dead-weight of the group. Yet it felt like no matter what she did or how hard she tried, she always came up short somehow.

 

Chrys was sent reeling by the most recent blow. She was doing a lot worse than she had hoped to be. Still, she wasn't down for the count yet. Her initial plans were still well on their way to fruition, even if she had taken quite the beating in the process. Making good use of the magical power she had siphoned off of the Demon Tower, she readied a healing spell and renewed the enchantment on her sword once more. As she felt the healing light wash over her, she took a deep breath. "Just a little more." She mused, right before she charged towards the monstrous swarm again for her next attack.
