You're sort of correct, I know at least someone from Square goes on these fansites. They usually wouldn't have minded we do this however, since 1.5 HD is coming they will probably be a little stricter because they don't want to lose sales from the PS3 remaster.

But if we don't distribute files on the forum and restrict it to the Drive then they can't possibly go after us. If you know what I mean ;)

 

Makes perfect sense. Also should consider putting some kind of password on the drive or restrict access to only the people working on the project. But at the same time though, I don't think a simple password would stop them if they were adamant in looking for stuff like this.

 

When the final patch is completed, we'll get the unmodded iso and the modded iso in a folder and ppf maker (or whatever the program is called, haven't used it in a long time) to make the patch. It extracts just the differences and puts it into one single ppf file, which the ards cannot be extracted from and thus no copyrighted information can be obtained.

Can PPF patches even be made on this scale? The patch would be massive in filesize.

 

Maybe multiple patches? Though I don't see a problem since KH2FM got a ppf patch just fine

 

There was a ppf patch for re chain of memories to have Japanese audio . It was over 200MB so I don't think it matters

 

Getting back on track: Someone mentioned a few pages back that I haven't uploaded Olympus Coliseum ARDs even if only one cutscene was worked on. I have decided to go through and fully translate them before posting them on the drive. They are much easier than Destiny Islands ARDs so I'm taking a break with DI and switching focus to HE for now. DI ards are such a pain in the butt. There are several instances where the subtitles are split into two strings instead of just one on the US version, and I have no idea how to adjust that so the timing matches up.

1) I'm hoping to be done with HE ards tonight and I'll upload them to the Completed folder once done.
2) I actually have a list of DI strings that are messed up. So once I do the best I can with those strings, I'll toss them in the In-Progress folder.
3) Once those two are done I guess the only thing that's left is the rest of Hollow Bastion excluding the Unknown scene.
4) THEN I get to do the fun process of playtesting everyone's uploaded strings and fixing any broken ones yay!

 

For the timing issue why don't you try to copy the strings in the US version(I know they are different)? Or is it something else?

I wish it was that easy. Go watch a Let's Play of KHFM and pay attention to the subtitles when Sora wakes up on the island. Not only does "No!" appear first (which I can probably fix) but "This huge, black THING swallowed me up!" and "I couldn't breathe, I couldn'tーー" are a part of the same string in FM. I would have to figure out how to insert a new string with different timing and that's something I have no idea how to do.

 

now . is it possable to port(from 1.5) to skip the cutsceens like in KH2 ? i know they put it in the kh 1.5 hd remix . but is it possable for the ps2 version?

 

Final Mix on the PS2 already has that feature. It will let you skip a cutscene if you've already seen it.

 

No, like KH2 and onwards where you can skip anytime. It's possible, but it could involve hard coding and poor Crazycat has enough on his plate already.

 

I don't think its really necessary I mean it lets you skip it if you failed once so it's really not that big of a deal.

Anyway, sorry I've not been here, been translating Hollow Bastion when I can. I feel that I'm a bit behind though so sorry.

 

Edited Halloween Town. There were still some strings in Japanese! I fixed it so please test again
