Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix Translation Patch (In progress)

Need help translation the Locations for Neverland/Captain Hook's ship. It's in the Drive script folder so if anyone has the US version to replace the text be my guest. Speak of which I am in the process of getting rid of the script folders because of the new fancy ARD, so translate what left in there

 

I'll see what I can do, I'm busy with the Hollow Bastion script right now. I'm jumping around translating some of the easy stuff first then going back to the full ones. I'll see if I can help out with Hook's Ship once I get a good number of sentences and conversations done with Hollow Bastion. Right now I'm doing the scene in which Sora is a Heartless and has just come back. It's easy for some things because they keep just saying their names. XD

Keep in mind though that if you use it to replace it you will have to find the sections that the sentences are split up in since they are separated by certain cues. If you need a video reference I can link to the cutscenes for you to see how it's split up.

If you need references in which to line up the Japanese subtitles then ask me for the link as well. Mainly if we don't put exactly what they are saying in the English version, since FM has English voice acting, people will probably chew us out to be quite honest. XD

 

Crazycat can you post ARD editor V2 up on the drive? I sort of need to use it

Internet problems, or copyright problems?
Either way it'll help with syncing up the right voiced dialogue. If you want the text based cutscenes then unfortunately you'd have to look up an LP or walkthrough for that. I'm using my old LP of Final Mix as a guide since I did basically what we are doing here, only I put the English translations below the Japanese text. Also helps that I kept it in archive on my portable HDD in case of emergency.

 

Aren't there length limits on videos if you're not a partner?

 

No, well yes and no. YouTube promoted every channel on the site to "Partnered" about 2 years ago or so. If you get a copyright strike though then you no longer get unlimited upload times, and instead you get a 15 minute time limit.
If I had only 15 minutes I'd of cried and just stuck with Game Anyone for uploading.

Edit: Gonna do some more tomorrow. I managed to get a few of the text cutscenes from Sora's sacrifice to Sora sealing Hollow Bastion's Keyhole. I wonder why I decided to do the script that's 28 pages sometimes...

 

Honestly the best way to translate is to own both the US and FM versions. That way with two separate export folders you could compare the files and replace what matches. That way you don't have to do all those extra steps figuring out the line breaks from videos online.

Also just an FYI I will be uploading 100% complete Dive to the Heart and Destiny Island ARDs later tonight.

I've been using my guide, since I had translated the game using the English script with some cutscenes, and put the translations below the Japanese text to make it easier for me. Basically I did it like this:

Only for the entirety of the first FM game. Yeah that was a fun LP, especially since I did it on Proud Mode and 100%ed it. T^T

I feel like I'm going to slow for all of this though. If I am, just tell me to go faster and I'll try my best.

 

This may be me nitpicking again but I think we should remove the [String Entry #'s] column from the KH1 translation status spreadsheet. There really isn't any point to it now that we can use the ARD editor.

Anyway, on the subject of the command menu, what does Xemnas change the menu to say, anyway? 3 of the 4 commands causes you to suffer pain while the 4th releases you from the "curse" that he placed on you. I can't read Japanese and I can't transcribe to translate it that way.

 

One is ショック shock which is the bad option

the other is かいほう I think this is how it's spelled and it means release

 

The 15 minute limit is still there for all accounts. You just have to simply verify your account to remove the limit, you don't have to be a partner.

I have that in my btltbl.bin which is on the drive.

 

Question, I don't fully understand the whole ARD thing, should I just tell one of you when I'm done translating Hollow Bastion and have you all convert it? I'm not very tech savvy at certain things.

You are correct about both of those. Weird though that in your post the Katakana doesn't show up, but the Hirigana does.

 

My traverse town file has been uploaded. Waiting on you Trilix to upload your files and we have the beginning of the game in English :)

 

Thank you guys for that. I've had a feeling that one was something similar to "Release" but I wanted to be sure.

 

So I'm looking at some of the files on the drive and i noticed they were in BIN format. It looks to me that when you extracted your game files you forgot the hashpairs.log to go along with it, the hashpairs gives them appropriate names with an ARD extension instead of BIN.

0002de74.bin should be pi01.ard
0057a7b4.bin should be tw01.ard
0072f974.bin should be lm01.ard

One thing to note is that only one ARD is used when in a specific room. Like for example being in the First District of Traverse Town will use a different ARD than when you are in the Third District. Another thing to note is that sometimes not all text is in one ARD. One example is that the Unknown Battle cutscene in Hollow Bastion is only located on pc13.ard. Not pc01.ard, nor pc02.ard.

@Crazycatz00 you tools are awesome I only had time to test it now and about the font files, I extracted and inserted back the 2 layers of kanji.knj and sysfont.bin and edited the followeing font:

ö=õ
ä=ã
Ö=Õ
Ä=Ã

that are used in my country language, but was not present in the font file.
