I have a memcard that has multiple saves in every world except i believe atlantica, from the beta testing for my mod.
You'll want to enable some cheats to undo the parts of the level 1 mod that are left over in the save (sora's stats get saved into the save data, a LOT of the mod doesn't though so it requires the pnach to always be active).
There are about 35 or so save files, usually there's one at the start of a world and one before the boss of a world.

Yes I believe so. I can only use the English when I select KH1 ENGLISH EVT. I think i need a personal walkthrough with this or at least the KH string mapper. I know how to exprt and import the stuff but I need help with actually properly translating the text. I think it could be because I put more HEX values in than there was before which cazycatz said wont work. So im stuck...

If you're editing an ARD file, you can have more or less hex values in it. My program handles that.
I'm not the best at explaining, but once you have the extracted txt files for both the FM and US version:
    1. Set the String Mapper to "KH1 US". Copy the hex codes from the US ARD into the bottom box. The top box should auto-update, but if it doesn't press space in the hex box. (If it still doesn't update, you might need to update your browser, or if you're using Internet Explorer get any other browser :P)
    2. At this point, the top box should be readable.
    3. Change the mapper to "KH1 Final Mix English EVT". (Subtitles=EVt)
    4. Press space in the top String box. The hex box should change.
    5. Use these new hex codes in the FM hex .txt files.
    6. Again, make sure things line up. Sometimes the FM will have more lines then the US, which means some need to be translated instead of converted.

Since most subtitles are also in the US version, you can just copy+paste them from there. Makes it easier, imo.

If you wanted to, you could type it out though. You'd just skip to step 3 in that case, and type your text.

Wait you can simply copy and paste from the US version!?

well... that's no fun anyway Crazycat...

Ok truth is I lost my US copy, so I have to do it by hand and watching walkthroughs.

If you legitimately still own the game and it's somewhere in your house, you can obtain it other ways legally without needing a disc.
If you don't own it, or you lost it in a place outside your home and have no idea where it is, you'll have to buy a new disc if you wanna do it legally.

That being said, crazycatz, you should try and create an intuitive GUI editor that reads all of the text files and lists them in the UI, with a simple text editing box available for replacing the text. It would slow down your immediate progress, but would make it MUCH faster to actually replace the text.

You would be able to recruit more people on the project due to the ease of use, and have different people assigned to different parts of the game.

I personally would be down for translating if there was an editor that showed me the actual japanese characters and i could just backspace them and replace them with english ones, and have the program handle all of the hex. It's not that it's too difficult to do it manually, but it's extremely tedious.

It would be much more friendly, for sure.
Hmmm... How does a browser-based program sound to you? I could probably get it so it takes the ARD file itself, reads it, shows the files + edits, then can save a new ARD. It would require a recent browser, and not IE, but pros to it though are instant updates, like the current mapper, and I wouldn't have to rewrite the entirety of my tools.
It'd also be much faster for me to write a "GUI" in browser-javascript then C#, too. :p

    What browser are you using?

How do you know? Your not doing the copy and past method because you don't have the retail disc. You don't know if you haven't tried it. Even if it is straight forward your not getting my problem. The hex are not changing/updating properly. Im not confused on what to do the program is preventing me from going any further.

Hmm maybe I should make a How-To video. After all, my youtube channel is based around How-Tos. I wouldn't mind at all.

Which version? If you start typing numbers in the bottom field yourself, does the top update then? What if you type in the top field?
Ohh, and the hex codes are separated by a space, right? The thing uses the space to know which are individual numbers.

Now it changed. Im not gonna do anything. So do i now put it with the same ard number as FM or find the correct one?
Also there for AW0 a lot of the texts are the same. do I replace them also with the ones from FM?

If it was from "he07.ard-7.txt", for example, you would put it in the same one for FM.

Also, you do need to make sure they have the same number of lines. he07.ard, again, has 346 lines in the US version but 374 in the Final Mix. This means they added stuff.
At this point, you would go through and try to find where they added the new lines, and translate them (or use a single 00 on that line to skip). I've used google translator for this (adding 00 lines), it's usually close enough to line them up.

And ya, some txt files are the same. If they're the same, use the same new hex codes on them all. Just make sure you don't touch the first line.
