Aww yeah almost done with the abilities now, thank you good sir![DOUBLEPOST=1374816998][/DOUBLEPOST][0x18 0x19] and [0x19 0x00] both produce ム as well.

When pasting "ストームリーパー" the code is
    EC F3 55 19 00 19 07 55 19 23 55

    when it needs to be
    EC F3 55 18 19 19 07 55 19 23 55

    EDIT: More fun fixes:
[0x1A 0xC7] is nothing when typed into the mapper
but is supposed to be 燃. Which, when pasted into the mapper will say it is unsupported.

    19 00 changed to "{ム}".

1a c7 shows up as "■", right? That means I didn't have a clue what character it was, but there was something there. :p

    Fixed both, @ a1.93

    ム needs to be [0x18 0x19] still.
(When typing "18 19" in the mapper it shows up in FM SYS but not FM EVT)

I'm not sure what [0x19 0x00] needs to be. It doesn't seem like something that is used in text strings.

I noticed you changed 1A C7 into 回 but it needs to be 燃 lol.
EDIT: Ah, I see you changed it in SYS but not EVT. I've been working in EVT because honestly I don't know the difference

...and guess what? Found some more!

凍 does not exist in your mapper when it should be [0x19 0x5C]

[0xA1] matches [0xDF] as they both are っ
[0xA1] should be つ which is another letter that doesn't exist
    [0xDF] should remain the same

I believe you are using the EVT font, while you're editing SYS font text. Try changing the game version. ;)
@Edit: Ya, the 2 fonts have different mappings. SYS is used on most menus and such, and EVT is most subtitles (and the fancy Journal text).

Do need to add the new ones you found though, so expect a1.94.

Edit: a1.94 is live. And let it be known that I hate Japanese right now! Still want to learn it though....

Thanks for the SYS vs EVT info as well as the new update.

I don't understand Japanese either lol, I'm just using certain websites to get the US version of the Japanese text.
But I come across some funny Romaji like:

    Spiral Wave (スパイラルウェイブ Supairaru Weibu)
    Cure Potion (キュアポーション Kyua Pōshon)
    Furious Bellow (フュリアスベロウ Fyuriasu Berou)

    This one makes me chuckle:
    Time-Out (ストップモーション Sutoppu Mōshon) :D

CrazyCat, as a person new to all this I don't know where to start or what to use. A little help?

I believe khwiki has the Japanese names of items/weapons/abilities.

To start from the complete beginning:
    1. Put "IMGextract.exe" and a KH1FM ISO named "kh.iso" in the same folder.
Run IMGextract to extract the ISO into the "export" folder.
    2. If you have any pre-modified files, replace them now.
    3. For ARD files:
      1. Drag the .ard file onto "ARDread.exe" (original post), it will create multiple text files.
      2. IMPORTANT: Do not ever change the first line of these .txt files!
      3. Edit the hex codes as needed, using the String Mapper, etc, and put the new hex codes into the file (replacing the old ones).
      4. IMPORTANT: If you do not change a .txt file, delete it!
      5. Drag the .ard onto "ARDedit.exe". Near the end of it's output, you should see something like "Edited 6 string titles!"; that's how many files it replaced.
      6. You will have a new file with .new appended (ex. "lm14.ard"->"lm14.ard.new"). Rename this file to its original name, and replace the one in export with it.
    4. For "btltbl.bin", "SLPS_251.98", and other "unknown" files:
      1. Use a hex editor to find the string. Copy its hex codes into the String Mapper.
      2. Edit the hex codes as needed, using the String Mapper, etc.
      3. Copy the next hex codes back into the source file.
IMPORTANT: The string (usually) must end in a 00 code.
IMPORTANT: You (normally) can not put back more hex codes then you take out. If the string was "01 01 01 00", you can change it to "02 02 02 00" or "02 00 00 00" but not "02 02 02 02 00"!
      4. Put the modified file into the export folder.
    5. Once you have modified the files, run "IMGreplace.exe" in the same folder as "kh.iso" and "export".
    6. Follow the prompts until you get to "File to replace". Now enter each file-name in (without the export part, such as "menu.ard").
It will now replace the file. If it says the file is too big, and if you want to append it (yes/no question) press Y and do it (note this lowers the chance the mod will work, but is currently the only way).
    7. When you're done adding files, press enter to finish. Your "kh.iso" is now using the modded versions of those files.
That 's basic from ISO -> new ISO guide. The string mapper should be easy enough to figure out.
Also, 2 notes: I think there's a Message file editor floating around (I made one too, but no release); There's only 2 message files in the game: I translated one and the other seems unused. So that shouldn't be a problem.
And 2: IMGreplace.exe works, but does create invalid ISOs. Don't distribute ISOs that have been edited by it (you probably shouldn't distribute any ISO, tbh). I have another program that can create a new, proper ISO with no (read: less) bugs.

Thanks Crazycat. I probably wasn't the only one asking for this either so I hope more people volunteer to join[DOUBLEPOST=1374874257][/DOUBLEPOST]I am currently looking through this

    0009d674 = al21.ard

Doing the 0009d674.bin-18 that was extracted.

So I can tell right now this is mainly those messages that pop up when you get stuff from dalmations and level up. I hope you didn't already do that CrazyCat

It's also locations that pop up telling you what area you will go to next awesome. I can do all of this in like a day

A nice little tip. You guys might want to watch walkthoughs of english playthroughs so you can know the wording of these messages, unless you are doing the story script of course

It would be wise to have a post summarizing who has translated what files so far; that way no time is wasted re-translating already-finished material.

    We have this: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvBCRWkclDn2dHBrLXVrTEJpT3FyMTRYOTNBNUxKSUE#gid=0
I can always add more files too.

A common place to upload the completed files would be nice, though. Where anyone could upload them.

    No problem.

As a heads up, it seems all the ards (most anyway) contain one table that's the same. It has strings like the dalmatians, "you got potion", and stuff like that. Afaik, it's the same in all files.
Anyone have that translated already? Best if we can keep it consistent.

Also, you can use the same method to extract the English text from the English version. Then it's just copy+paste, and making sure things still line up.

If the files themselves aren't too beefy, I believe multiple people could sync a Dropbox. That way all the files are shared between everyone involved at all times.

Dropbox or Google Document it's all good. Maybe both.[DOUBLEPOST=1374887120][/DOUBLEPOST]Here is my attempt on one of those files.

    Here's the first ARD extracted

These have been throw the Japanese table and awaiting English translation before going through the table again. Let me explore some more of this stuff. Anyone can edit this

0009d674.bin-0 looks like trash btw, you would probably want to delete that txt file.

I have added a ARD checklist so people can cross off as they finished one

    https://docs.google.com/document/d/1dRNFJ-nnmcl1q11UCXrQVRUuYwywtPlVsf8j4dpxisk/edit?usp=sharing

    Color Codes highlights

    Green-Finished

    None-Haven't touched[DOUBLEPOST=1374889178][/DOUBLEPOST]
    Done

BTW CrazyCat how many files from the ard should be present. it obviously didn't dump everything because the numbers at the end are all bigger than the number of files that were dumped.

The number of .txt files can be different for every ard, and they can be different numbers that are correct. That was one of the bugs in an older version. Pretty much, you just have to make a judgment call on it.

What do you mean by "the numbers at the end are all bigger than the number of files that were dumped"?

Just forget what I asked. I wasn't sure if I was getting everything, but that's because for me I am doing things out of order. I just extracted what seems to be the text for the first cutscene in Destiny's Island. Also items to gather and everything. I will translate this ARD because it isn't as confusing. I already marked it off the ARD checklist so no worries. Once I am finished I want to test this on my real PS2 to see if it works along with your already done files.

Back to work then. Oh and I will be uploading them too.

EDIT: Seems like every extracted ARD has the same text in the bottom with Gifts from dalmations and you obtained such and such item

I can understand the item thing..

Maybe it's on a per-world/room basis and needs the text?
