The end of world has the most I think. It is impossible to get past the black gargoyle boss because everytime his health gets low it crashes I had to resort to the original to pass that

Well I think the PS2 crash is a major issue. I am using swap magic, if I emu the game it runs, but on actual PS2 hardware it won't. Even with only completed files. Some people are still going to be playing on PS2 and I have no idea what's wrong. Someone using OPL has the same problem as me.[DOUBLEPOST=1407931504][/DOUBLEPOST]
Well let's see here, there's something called school. Oh and then not to mention CrazyCatz is working on something else. Learn how to be patient, you have no idea how hard it is to patch this game, we have to do Hex editing, translate ARDS and so much more.

well I can wait; I still have to get the harddrive and the exploited memory card. I'm sure it's going to be worth it.

I will tell you what is wrong the wide screen hacks use to much memory for PS2 on OPL my reverse hack of elf works just fine on it so far but has text overrun at top of screen with wide for text
I am looking to find all the elf wide hacks in place but still can not find that one

It would be real nice of one of the elf hackers up a version without wide in place for PS2 use but I could wish :)

Thanks for trying to find a solution! . With improvements in the ps2 scene in recent months, many have given new life to the PS2 with OPL software.

Ohh, it's actually the widescreen hack... that might be a problem, since all text alignment relies on it either being widescreen or not (and will look wrong if you change it).

In any case, I have the original, commented hacked-ELF. I could try to fix this.
My guess is the part of the code that expands the rendering FoV is causing the RAM increase (since w\o it, it's mostly a camera FoV hack). If I can make a version that is still widescreen, but without the render FoV change, could someone confirm whether that works on a real PS2 or not? If it does, the text alignments should still be good.
I guess a completely non-widescreen version can be made too if someone wants, but it will have text problems; that's just part of the deal.

I would not mind testing the elf without wide in place and looks like some others would not if it makes OPL work with this patch
one without any wide to me would work best less likely to crash

Ok, a full non-widescreen one will take more more time, matrix hacks and function hooks and all, but here's 2 real basic versions.
    • noWideRender: Widescreen hack on, render hack off. I think this may fix the crashing, but will have objects pop in and out on the sides. Even if this isn't preferred, I would like knowing if this is the cause of the crash or not.
    • partialNoWide: Some of the widescreen hack off, mainly the render hack, FMV fixes, and camera horiz+ modifier.
If these work, I can work on a more proper no-widescreen version.

Wow, I'll look at that in the next few days, but there's a ton of differences there! If you can narrow down the differences, and keep it working, that would really help speed things up for me as well. ^^

Well the problem is removing the wide screen patch will mess up all the text. We have no idea what's causing it either because it works 100% fine on emubut on actual PS2 hardware it doesn't. I use swap magic and if people with OPL have the same problem I have a feeling it might be something with the patcher. Someone said he got it to work on his PS2 but we have no idea how.

And there's no way it could be swap magic, the game boots 100% fine but the second you start a new game, you softlock. Plus by then Swap magic's memory is gone. Also someone should try out GSM.
