In a recent Yen Press update about the High School of the Dead Manga, the publisher confirmed to the Anime News Network of the Kingdom Hearts Artwork by Shiro Amano. Amano is responsible for the art in the Kingdom Hearts and Legend of Mana Manga.
The artbook is priced at US $25.00 and will be released on October 29th 2013.

And don't forget last week's confirmation about the Final Mix Manga to debut in May!

Very nice. Though I am still kinda on the fence about the KH manga art, so I probably wont buy this.

Same here. I'm not a big fan of the manga art.

I hope people don't get confused with nomuras art.

as much as I enjoy the KH manga, I would not pay 25 dollars for an art book, even.....even if....even if it's good art.......must resist temptation for impulse buy.....

I guess I'm one of the few who enjoy the manga art?

It's not that we don't like it. It's just that $25 is quite a bit for an art book. I personally enjoy Amano's art style a lot, but I wouldn't pay that kind of money for the book.
Also very hyped for the Final Mix manga, though seeing as I own all four volumes from the original game already, I'm still on the fence as to whether or not I'm buying it.

      It's...... fine.

I like how it's not over-the-top stereotypical anime/manga art, there is a subtlety to it, and for that I appreciate it, but there is something about it, I'm not sure what, that doesn't sit well with me. At times I like it, and at times I wish Nomura would just draw everything for KH.

That said, I've only read about 25 chapters of the KH manga, so my opinion could change the more I read.

Nomura's art would be rather impractical for a manga, I think. Amano's may be simpler but that works in manga, where you have to draw a lot. Not to say that Nomura's art is remarkably intricate, but I imagine all the zippers and belt buckles may hurt his speed. Amano simplifies a lot (art-wise and story-wise) for good reason.

Personally I adore the manga simply for its humor, I don't think I'll be paying $25 for an art book but I like Amano's art. It's very cute.

To emphasize this: There's a major difference between Mangaka and Character Designers. Mangaka come up with story, layout, design, character interaction (etc) while Character Designers generally focus on characters and make intricate designs. Most of the time.

I would say I would get this, but a lot of Amano's manga art is already available for free in HD on Zerochan so it's not very impacting to me.

It's very pretty, but the price like everyone else is saying is too steep for me. I can pre-order Kingdom Hearts 1.5 and get an art book with probably a lot of the same drawings. I have to sadly pass.

I recently bought the artbook and I must say it is amazing (though I am a huge fan of the manga). All of it is really beautifully presented and each piece of art has a little note by Shiro Amano himself just saying his thoughts about each of them. There are plenty of amazing pieces that are not included anywhere in the manga and lots of full colour versions of the black and white prints in the manga. I'm very happy with it :)

Just to clear up, the pre order artbook of 1.5 features game artwork only by by Tetsuya Nomura, the artbook that this thread is about has only Shiro Amano. Neither of them have any of the same drawings in :)
