I'm not sure if you guys heard, but KINGDOM HEARTS 358/2 Days was nominated for a bunch of awards in the gaming magazine "Nintendo Power". KINGDOM HEARTS 358/2 Days took all seven awards, which includes Nintendo DS Game of the Year, Best Sound/Voice Acting, Best Adventure Game, Best Nintendo DS Graphics, Best New Character, Best Story/Writing and Overall Game of the Year.

It's good to hear that KINGDOM HEARTS 358/2 Days won the awards that they were nominated for. Let's hope that this inspires Square to release KINGDOM HEARTS Birth by Sleep earlier than expected (laughs).

How did it not get nominated for best RPG? Even though it was nominated for best Nintendo Game of the year?

Yes! 358/2 Days is so cool! and I also wish this speeds up the release of BBS.

Just snooped around looking at the other award winners. Best Action Game: Sonic and the Black Knight. (!? Kingdom Hearts is an action game, not an adventure game, so I was sure it'd win that one. Oh well.) Shocking job, fuzzy! I would've rather nominated that for the best story award, but props to Days all the same.

Also, Scribblenauts seems to have only beaten the good ol' Professor Layton to Best Puzzle Game by a margin, which is pretty sweet.

Wow. In Britain, our Nintendo Magazine (ONM: Official Nintendo Magazine) only rated Days at around 69%, not winning any similar reader awards. It was critisized for the "Horribly tween storyline" and overall uneven progression in the story. Still rated as a beautiful looking game, and the gameplay itself was sound, but they felt the toryline ruined the experience, hence the score.

About half of that is going of off memory, so if anyone's got the right copy on hand, I'm open to corrections. Shows the difference in opinion, eh?

Meh... I thought it was a highly mediocre game. The story was okay, but the gameplay was mind-numbingly repetitive and the graphics (apart from the cutscenes) were not attractive at all.

And I'm assuming Xion was the winner for "Best New Character," which I also don't get. I thought she was the worst sort of Mary Sue. If I didn't know any better, I would swear she was born of bad fanfiction.

Look at the positive aspects. Where are you going to find better graphics for a Nintendo DS game? 358/2 Days was the best DS game I've seen so far in terms of appearance.

Xion may have been like that, but I think that the character became much more vital to the story towards the end of the game, specifically when Xion became the final boss.

Yeah, but saying a game has good graphics for the Nintendo DS isn't saying a whole lot, is it? All that's saying is that the DS has crappy graphics, but that 358/2 has slightly less crappy graphics.

But honestly, that was my smallest complaint about it. The gameplay was horrible. Go to a world. Kill Heartless for 5-10 minutes. Yay! You win! Now go do it again, while occasionally watching crappy text box cutscenes. The only break from the monotony was the exploration missions.

And I still intensely dislike Xion. Apart from her Mary Sueness, there was no valid reason for her to be there. She was just an incredibly angsty Macguffin.

Sorry, but I didn't find think there was much to like about 358/2 Days.

The voting poll was rigged. Or at least skewed. You honestly think 358/2 Days is able to swipe all of those awards seriously? It seems everyone was "LET'S VOTE KH IN EVERY CATEGORY AS LONG AS IT WINS! DOESN'T MATTER IF IT DOESN'T FIT!" Some KHI users were very pissed off about the results, because, really, it wasn't deserved for a lot of them. And in turn, I won't really take it to heart. There is something off there, make no mistake about it. And the magazine said it got it for about 10, 000 votes, which makes up most KH forums if advertised right. If not, more. I wonder how much of the other fandoms were aware of this as well.

Was it also a poll for the readers in question? Because, I dare say, I feel bad if we're seen as such fantards. Your Nintendo Magazine, I think, got the rightful score of what should have been this game.

It wasn't necessarily rigged, but it was definitely skewed. Awards given on the basis of public voting are always going to be skewed. It doesn't matter how good something actually is. It just matters how big of a fanbase it already has.

I heard somebody make a good point about these types of awards recently. They said that if the Academy Awards were done that way, Twilight would win in every category.

KH 358/2 days was real cool I really like Xion I just wish they would update the North American Website for once in their life :(

...the KHI members were talking about how they skewed it.

I agree wholeheartedly, but do you think the KH fanbase has grown more than the Zelda and/or Mario ones? (then again, you might never know) You have to take in how many actually knew about this, and how it was promoted in the actual forum or place.

      -sigh-

You guys who are trolling about it being suckish cuz of its graphics, if we could play Chain of Memories on the GBA, and not get bored from it, and love it, we would love 358/2 Days on the DS.

I mean really, look at the general specs of a DS! You can't really think that you'll see an ATI Catalyst graphics card in there...and of course it was a bit repetitive, everything pretty much is. KH1+2 were pretty repetitive, but I LOVED them both. Dissidia was REALLY repetitive with all the O + [] mashing, but it was still awesome!

And besides, they remade COM so that it would have better graphics and they could release it along with KH2FM+ to make it seem cooler (and dayum, it was). So they'll probably just remake BBS and/or Coded and/or Days for the PS3/PSP/something, so don't worry about it.

Xion. Was. Cool. Don't troll on her.

The storyline was awesome. The controls were pretty good too (they even kept the shortcut menu). And besides, one thing that made the graphics so bad, was the fact that the game was HUGE! It had all those Missions + all those sprites + all that text + the story + all those cutscenes + it was 3D, not 2D like COM! A DS card wouldnt really hold that much, without making the graphics a bit worse, so yeah.

Its a DS game, for crying out loud. I don't think you guys were getting so angry offa COM when it came out for the GBA, and burning on Namine. <,<

I love how having a different opinion is now considered trolling. Absolutely love it.

I'm sorry that I think Xion is a Mary Sue. I'm sorry that I think the game had ugly graphics. I'm sorry that that the bland, repetitive missions bored me out of my skull. In general, I'm sorry that I didn't like the game.

But you know what? That's my opinion.

      I'm entitled to it.

      Get over it.

Days is a freaking good game and the graphics was awesome especially if we consider the limited capabilities of DS. It even had scenes from KHII in the intro! For GOD'S sake!

I don't care about the ratings, awards or whatever. I enjoy this game and this is what matters to me. Good game is a good game.

      Xion. Was. Not. Cool.

      It's called a different opinion.

Stop trolling with your Xion love, then.

Because it was actually done well and Naminé didn't take over the whole plot?

Because everyone thinks the same, right?

      I actually agree with this.

The game was so whored around Xion that they actually removed scenes with other characters for more scenes about her.
The graphics were all right. I wouldn't classify them as great. To me personally, they were standard DS graphics.

And just *TwilightNight* said, Namine didn't take over the whole CoM plot. I mean, they could have toned down Xion. I thought it was Roxas' story, not hers. She almost took over the central character plot. The rest of the Org needed more airtime.

yeah, I have that issue, freakin amazing. that game so deserves it though.

BTW you mortals annoy me with your pointless arguing of "trolling and opinions" call it what you will, just stop making a big deal out of it... its a game for goodness sakes.
