So with the trailers for Kh3 out and with E3 in a couple months ive been dying to know when we can play KH3, but then I realized that Japans probably going to get it first and that just made me feel a bit depressed. so I know face a important decision, do I wait the extra couple months and play it when its released in western countries or watchthe gameplay on line and ruin the experience of playing it?

Your question is pointless since even your grandchildren might not be alive to play KH3.

But seriously, just wait a little while. KH3D was released in North America three months after it was in Japan. Compared to Birth by Sleep's eight month wait it shows that Square's gotten a little better at localizing Kingdom Hearts games. Three months or less seems to be like a good estimate to wait in between Japan's release and everyone else's. Besides, you'll run into loads of spoilers pretty easily if you start watching gameplay videos. If that doesn't bother you, then go ahead and watch everything you can when it comes out.

Wrong place to post this. But anyway, unless you're OK with being spoiled, just wait a little, I'm sure it can't be as bad as the 8 month wait for BBS.

I never watch the games play-throughs online, personally. I think you get a better experience by playing the game. For example, when I played Last of Us, I was way more emotional then my friend who had already watched the game. I think it has something to do with, like, you are that character and you work so hard to make sure they don't die, so when something happens to them you kind of sympathize with them a little bit more. I really doubt that they would release the game a really long time after it comes out in Japan, since everyone has been waiting for it so long. So I'd say no, because in all it does give you a different experience, but that's just me.

Uh...just why would you want to spoil the story of a game that you're apparently so excited for? I don't understand the mentality behind it: do you want this as a game, or simply as a movie?

Not to mention, if it does come out in Japan months before any other region, than the U.S. and other versions will probably be given extra content, just like how it's been the other games, but this time the "Final Mix" stuff could be added as DLC.

Though we slid back to seven months of waiting for KH1.5 which WAS just ports, besides redubbing (and not even lip syncing) the Days cutscenes

If I intend to play a game, I'm pretty adamant about avoiding spoilers. For games like KH3D I read story summaries and ending spoilers the moment they were available just because I didn't have (and still don't) a 3DS, but I'm pretty hyped for KH3 and will definitely be getting it on launch, so I don't want to spoil that experience. It'll be the first game in a long time that I'll have that anticipation about. There was just something so magical about turning on games for the first time after months/years/centuries of waiting and having no idea what's going to happen next. I definitely want to preserve that for KH3.

To be honest with the extreme demand of people OUTSIDE japan looking to buy KH3 asap. I doubt it'll take more than 3 months cause square knows the rest of the world definitely wants KH3 as well as japan itself.

Doesn't mean much if the game is big and needs lots of localization, never mind they might censor stuff

Well, I don't think we'll need to wait too long to play it.

Like all the KH games, I'll avoid the spoilers as much as possible (for example, I needed to wait almost a year since the launch to play KH 3D and I got no spoilers meantime).

I will wait to play it, I don't want the game spoiled because this is a game with such big hype and anticipation behind it! The sad thing is, this forum will probably be littered in spoilers quickly after the release in Japan as some people will play it and then it will get much worse when release in US and UK (I don't know if I will be able to get the game at first release as I may not even have a PS4 but I am going to try my best). This happened for the other KH games but not as much as I think it will for KH3- because this game will be huge.

Anyway, I will be avoiding all spoilers at all costs because I recon the story will be complicated and bring many interesting twists that will be amazing during initial play through.

I'd wait for the game. The same happened to me for DDD, I didn't dare touch a single spoiler til I finally got a chance to play the game about a year or two after.

You're right.... Maybe I'll avoid many KH portals to avoid spoilers, so I'll enter in a hiatus until I got mine and have completed the story.

I'm not likely to get a PS4 or XBone anytime soon, so the instant KHIII is out, I'll be scouring the internet for plot details.

With the success of Pokemon XY's worldwide release, isn't it possible that Square could hold off releasing KHIII until most or all of the localizing is done?

Pokemon didn't have voice acting though, and if BBS and DDD were any indication, text-based cutscenes (ex. like how most of Hundred Acre Wood was in KH1) are a thing of the past. I expect ALL cutscenes to be voiced, and for a game like KH3, that's definitely a lot of dubbing to deal with.

And if they have a translated script out, they could have all the dubbing being done at the same time in different studios. We could have worldwide release a month or two late instead of Japanese version, then international seven or eight months later.

That'd be awesome. But I wouldn't bet my coins on this.

It's much easier for Square do all the Japanese dub and then give the final script and Japanese voice acting to be translated a interpreted in English.
