Honestly? I doubt pushing the release date back a bit would've affected sales at all. Square didn't *have* to make yet another release of the games, but they did. The only reason why they had a release date limit is because they forced it on themselves. With release dates in March and September... Neither are exactly "holiday" months; summer, sure, but by the time it gets overseas, summer is over.

Unless their publisher (unless they publish their own stuff, which makes it their own fault) was really pushing for a certain release date, they had no reason not to, outside of lack of caring and laziness.

This is why I wished people from Xantex would be active again. They seems like the helpful bunch that would support this stuff :(

I doubt they could have changed the time. They don't have any control over that. That why Nomura said they couldn't add the Data organization in KH2 because of time. I don't think you have the right to call them lazy because you don't know what they go through. Its their game they can do what they want. Anyway why would they make less of the 2d faces in 2 instead of 1. It could be because its was a new series and they didn't want to go all out and waste money if i didn't work well. Nomura had his doubts about 1. Honestly you should be thankful you dont have Tony Hawk Pro Skater Textures and models. =P

Meanwhile, I have no doubt that they could've. It's not like Square Enix is a small, unknown indie company. If they, the developers, don't have *any* say in when their product is released I would love to know who decides it for them. Regardless of if you consider them lazy or not, it's my opinion that they, at least in the modelling department, really called it in. Without any access to the source code to do it "properly", people on this very forum can enhance textures, change sounds, and translate the entire game into a different language. The only things that Square Enix did to the games that we can't (not including the enhanced music, which I'm very pleased to have) do to them are make them run natively on the PS3 (which is sort of avoided if you can somehow get burned games PS2 games to run on the PS3), a few new abilities (all of which were taken from other games), achievements (which don't matter to some people), making the right analog stick not be horrible anymore (very good change), shifting the "Summon" option around (another good change I might add) and adding reaction commands (giving the triangle button some more action while at the same time making it harder to direct Donald and Goofy in battle).

If Nomura had his doubts about this collection, he shouldn't have. Kingdom Hearts is a massive series that has historically been successful both financially and critically; HD collections themselves are an indication of the overall success of a series (I have yet to see Bumbsy HD and I never will). Granted, they had to work hard to reverse engineer the source code for the game since they "lost" it over the last decade, but the experience is basically the same; the same voices from 10 years ago, running around the same sparsely decorated, monster-filled but otherwise lifeless worlds, listening to remakes of songs we've been listening to for 10 years.

This isn't a "new series", either. Just another iteration in the long list of remakes that the KH team has already pumped out. And yes, I should totally be thankful for them not completely missing the point of an HD collection. If they had shipped it with Pro Skater-styled textures after promising "HD", they'd be laughed out of the room.

    Massive blog post.

But really, can we please get back to talking about the actual PORTING thing and not about this, now? Enough derailing.

It varies depending on the cutscenes. but they all got the models. I know what video you're talking about and I don't agree with everything that person said, especially in the case of 358/2 Days HD. He is correct about the lip syncing issues though, however Nomura said that they lost a lot of the data on Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts Final Mix so they had to build it mainly from scratch, it's why the Final Mix HD probably has the most polish of all. Re: Chain of Memories HD was the lazy one though and that one I won't defend.

Would've taken longer to work it out since they were on a timetable and had to work the most on Final Mix HD. The English and European version actually are going to have even more polish and all the things you saw in that Deep analysis video will be probably fixed since they are rerecording all the audio for the NTSC and PAL version of the HD 1.5 ReMix. Heck if you wanna go one step further they didn't even rerecord the audio for the Japanese one really since the added cutscenes aren't voiced still.

They aren't recording all of the video, but if they did voice the new scenes then that's a bonus.

You didn't read my post correctly. I said he had doubt on kh1 not the collection and it was a new seires then. You also forget there are only 2 "programmers" from Osaka team remastering this. No animators, no nothing. Only programmers that know nothing about animation. Just like me and you. And this is pretty much on topic. We are discussing about the HD collection models it not derailing anything it just a little pre discussion till something comes up.

Yeah that's why I was wondering if it was possible to do some of this stuff, because if two programmers did it in a year then why not at least attempt it? I don't care if it takes longer than a year, a bigger team of people, and little phases/parts of the project. It would be nice to play in 1080p, but we all can't have nice things. The models and textures will probably be the best we can do period, but we need that entry key ( .fbk to .mdls) then the rest is history

BTW I hate how Xentax basically forces you to "pay" to use their forums. I feel sorry for anyone that joins and doesn't get help or discussions going.

How can you attempt somthing you don't know how to do? And yeah. You have to pay for their software. Honestly it suck and is just bms script reader. It useless. People will only help if they are interested.

It just strikes me as odd that Square would allow a team of just two programmers to go in and do this. It's even ODDER that no one other than those two programmers (barring the musicians) pitched in on this. It's just odd.

In any case, I've started looking for the texture sheets for the Disney characters from KH2 that are also in KH1. I started with Simba because why not. Might take a while to find everybody.

An interesting thing to note. While editing the high-poly Sora model, I discovered that Sora's KH1 high-poly hair texture is actually slightly higher resolution than his BBS high-poly model's hair texture.

Edit: As in Sora's BBS high-poly hair is exactly the same as his standard-poly hair texture.

I want to fix the title screen intro pics fo 16x9 screen, but I can't find a TIM2 inserter anywhere. It's odd since there are so many extractors out there. I don't think Crazycat's tool works on TIM2

They do. I've already tested. ;)

Also, my thread was updated with BBS textured Sora. Both high-poly and standard-poly.
    Download in the OP.

P.S. Something interesting I finished today will be uploaded soon. :D

Really? TIM2 files can be extracted and inserted into Crazycat's tool that is not a model?

No, not the mdls extractor. Sorry, his actual extractor program extracts it, and you can hex out the TIM2 files from title.img or whatever it's called. I can edit them, only thing is, I can't increase the resolution of them, because they're loaded by their offset.

No need to edit the resolution just adust them for 16x9 so they don't gain the stretched look. I can edit the png file, but I just need someone to help me insert it back in.

Do you mean by vertical stretching/cropping? I was thinking of that, but everything would have to be adjusted because of where the line above New Game/Load Game/Special movie is. Horizontal squashing would work, but things would look worse rather than better in my opinion.
