What? He can extract whatever is in there but the files are encrypted. You can use 1.5s ards.

I know that, just saying I want those ARD/EVM files for the alignment and textboxes

Dude Miles, you need to put those files up on some online storage somehow. Mediafire gives you about 52 gigs for free and you can directly share the folder.
You're making me drool man ;)

Now I know where we are sharing the 1.5 files lol :p

But seriously a cfw PS3 someone out there must have one. I am going to begin my internet wide search soon.

I looked into cfw, but my model can't be downgraded AFAIK. If only it were as easy as the PSP. Anyway this sounds really interesting. Are the ARDs ridiculously encrypted?

Every file within the mself is encrypted with sdat v4. There is no decryption for the PC yet (if ever) so we need a cfw PS3 and that file asmodean uploaded to enable decrypting over a ps3

    Gotcha, sorry.

    When Miles said,

it made me think ARDs weren't encrypted for some reason.

Well, I was able to extract the files pretty easily. They're all encrypted though, as said before.
I do have some hope though... I looked up the SDAT format, and poked around some files. The data portions of SDATs are usually about the right size. system.cnf.sdat, for example, has a data portion of 76 bytes... exactly the same as the PS2.
If we can get some CFW PS3, and I can get a few files decrypted to at least check, we might have something.
I can send the SDATs as needed, so just need the CFW now...

Also, I'm not getting the encryption on these suckers. Sorta knew I wouldn't, but I had to give it a try anyway. :P

Well Crazycat they say that there is some key to unlock it or something, but they haven;t found that key yet. It hasn't been a year yet so I will stay patient on them. Someone will crack it eventually. But yeah the files being the same is promising.

Might even be able to just copy/paste, ARD/EVM and kanji.knj file directly over and it will probably work properly.[DOUBLEPOST=1380326745][/DOUBLEPOST]Crazycat if you find anyone with a CFW PS3 tell them to use this if they didn't know about it already.

What I'm really interested in knowing is if everything that can't normally be edited could be copied over. Like hard coded texture resolutions. Could we take, for instance, the uitex.bin from 1.5, and use it in the normal KHFM? Also wouldn't this make it easier to port the reaction commands over? At the moment I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing. I hope people wouldn't just port the HD assets from 1.5 into KHFM, without paying for 1.5. The less people buy 1.5 means less of a chance that they'll release a 2.5 remix. They said as much in an interview.

I doubt things could be copied over. Most things in the game seem to have hard-coded widths, and then there's the RAM issue...
As for reaction commands... I'm going to say, if the code isn't already in the game, it's probably never happening. Unless Square programmed it and just left it "turned off", it would take a huge amount or work to program and hook everything correctly, and find a place to save the code. And this is all in assembly, remember.

There are in fact keys for SDAT files, encryption keys. In fact, there ARE tools for the PC that can decrypt SDAT files without a PS3 at all. But they only work with SDAT v3 or lower, KH1.5 uses SDAT v4. SDAT 4 keys were leaked a few months ago, but I don't know what to do with them, and I can't find any tool using them.

Let's open and see. If it's the same size then it shouldn't matter right? I don't even think the textures are even HD. At most they are uncompressed textures are something. We can't just add that it or at least downsample?

As for the RAM issue, I wish emulators could break that limitation :( I mean it bodes badly for the future because you can only do so much.

Not everything is the same size, actually. Most things are different, especially anything with textures. This might just be because the PS3 uses a different texture format, or they might be different.... no way to tell until someone can decrypt these suckers.
But we should always be able to downsample, if wanted.

I know about the gtf files. You can easily convert them over to the dds format. That's editable.

But yeah I understand. One of these days I need to learn coding then start working on a re-write for the PCSX2 plugins. I know sounds crazy:rolleyes:[DOUBLEPOST=1380331582][/DOUBLEPOST]
Is the same said for the camera system too? My hopes is that these files can at least provide some insight.

This may be a really stupid question, but I'm no programmer. If you found out what file the hard coded texture resolution was located in, couldn't you replace it with the same file from 1.5? IF things aren't moved around. If not, oh well. It's really not a big deal.

Could try, at least. No idea if it would actually work though. Also depends how it accesses the individual spots in the image. I think it uses pixel offsets, but I can't be sure.

That camera might be fixable, but I don't know where to start with that. But when you get near a wall, it does move up\down by itself; and 1st person mode has full control. So I'd imagine it's possible to bind up\down as well.
