At first I was angered and annoyed, but now I just come to like it being this way. Doesn't matter to me, but yes they zoomed in on cutscenes to rid of the black bars and "fill the screen" good thing it worked out nicely.

    1. Open OPTPiX iMageStudio 3
    2. Click "File -> Open Image..."
    3. Find and open the TM2 file
    4. Take note of the number in the title. "8bpp (16)" means remember 16, "8bpp (256)" means remember 256, etc.
    5. Click "File -> Save As..."
    6. Change "Save as type:" to "PNG File (*.png)" and click "Save"
    7. Uncheck "Interlaced", "Transparent color", and "Add comment to the image" ("Save in 32K colors" is disabled)
    8. Set "Filter for Indexed color" to "OPTIX standard" ("Full color filter" is disabled)
    9. Click OK. It should of created the PNG file
    10. Edit the PNG as you wish
    11. Back in OPTPiX iMageStudio 3....
      Click "File -> Open Image..."
    12. Find and open the modified PNG file
    13. If the title number doesn't match step 4:
      1. Click "Image -> Color Reduction..."
      2. Match the number from step 4 in the "Output colors" section.
If it was 16, check "16 colors"; if it was 256, check "256 colors (8 bits)".
      3. Click "Color Reduction". It will make a new image with the correct number of colors
      4. Click "Finish"
      5. The image title should now match step 4. From now on, use the newly created image
    14. Click "File -> Save As..."
    15. Change "Save as type:" to "TIM2 File (*.tm2)" and click "Save"
    16. Check "32bit CLUT", "CSM1 CLUT", and "16bytes" (Alignment).
    17. Using the number from Step 4:
      • If it was 16 check "4bit TIM2"
      • If it was 256 check "8bit TIM2"
      • If these 2 are grayed out, you missed step 13
    18. Click OK. It should of created the TM2 file
And just to make sure it's know, TM2 is a image format just like JPG and PNG. Just, not really used much.

This reminds me of the million different versions of DBZ Funimation pooped out because they wanted the episodes to "fill the screen"

Ohh baby. Thanks a bunch, following it now. I'm sure I must've messed up somewhere

Luckily the added true 16x9 for gameplay in 1.5 HD. It's just the cutscenes that were gimped[DOUBLEPOST=1376373725][/DOUBLEPOST]
thanks crazycat, now I can test out my 16x9 insertion and Square Enix logo.

Updated with steps for non-indexed PNGs. Guide should cover pretty much all types now.

    Wish you both luck!

Also, even with this method, changing the size causes the game to show corrupt data. My guess is width is hardcoded, so.........

Edit: Quick proof-of-concept: widescreenlogo.png (Made the image 16:9, then resized it back to the original dimensions. Ends up displaying right because the game stretches it back to 16:9 again :p)

Edit2: My spelling is horrible tonight, geez. About 8 spelling edits.

Ha ha! That means my hack job method trumps your method! Muhahaha. Photoshop is my friend :D

EDIT: Wait I lied, your proof of concept is better than mine. Let me re-read your guide :P[DOUBLEPOST=1376375263][/DOUBLEPOST]
BAH you figured me out. That's what I was doing before you wrote the guide. That why I said earlier it cuts the resolution.
I guess it's impossible to adjust the image size. We just have to crunch the image to 75% width and keep it within the same image size, lame.

Why does enabling widescreen have to seem so complicated? Anyone got a code/Pnatch?

We can attempt to do this with the HUD a little later. It will casues alignment issues with the command words.

We have to anamorphically squeeze the images, but it turns out correct when the widescreen mode is enabled

If we can create a fifth slot to only pop up when the option is available then maybe.

Adding a fifth command slot at the bottom is extremely easy. We could just throw summon into slot 5.

The fifth slot has to go on top and we have to texture it to the triangle command slot, but how will we be able to toggle it on/off when needed?
