With all do respect this system isn't working very well. Trolls are being gay so we all moved here.

I suggest you remove some people from the group.

Yes, that seems to be a good suggestion.

I will deal with it in 12 hours or so, when I return. In the meantime, I suggest using a separate, moderated room.

Here are my current thoughts how to cull the people in the group and prevent leakings.:
-Remove everyone under fifty posts and under two rep gems
-Post an 'activity checker' thread every week/fortnight. It will be left for three days, then anyone who did not post in it is removed from the group
-Re-impress the importance of not sharing the password around (possibly via egregious and humourous examples)

I'm eager to hear others' suggestions and views though. Just post 'em up here. Criticisms of my approaches also appreciated.

I say we just find whoever is leaking out the password and remove them. Just start with whoever is most likely, this is not a democracy.

    Group De rep

We can use my room during the other 12 hours if you like. Although me randomly leaving may not help.

I say we have many different rooms. And if a troll invades one, the person with the group gives a signal and everyone leaves little by little to their room.

Let's say my signal is pancakes. So if there's a troll and I start talking about pancakes with emphasis, then the members slowly move to my room. Well, it sounds a bit whack, but it could work. Also Chris, marry me.

I say everyone stops complaining about trolls and just mutes them. Also you cannot remove people just for having less than 2 rep gems/50 posts, that is disgusting :l

I doubt that would work, Chev, it's too much work for people to care, at the very least it would stop a lot of the acitivity. I think that the most effective thing would just be to... Well, have a room that's actually moderated when people are actually in there. Then if there was a troll they could just ban them.

A second, moderated room is an option, yes. The difficulty is in finding someone both active and willing.

Muting the trolls is a temporary measure, but not a permanent option, as they can still use names and repetitive entering/exiting to display messages.

I'm not fond of arbitrarily removing people. That will quickly turn this into P's Circle of Friend and No One Else™.

    Kay: Can you elaborate?

No offense Kay but what the trolls did in there a while back was wrong on so many levels. I don't care who it was or why they did it. It was wrong plain and simple.
This time they are annoying not necessarily offensive and to them I say get a life or some friends that usually helps.

And P if you want things done you can't be everyone's best friend. When there is a Problem usually taking action will help. As I said I would be glad to use my room.
Hopfully I get better so I can be on like I used to.

Did in there a while back? That isn't an issue NOW, all they do now is blast music or change their name a lot, which is something some reg members do too, look at how some people spam around with the voxli voiceover thing. Personally I think everyone is over-reacting

Yes but that is way louder and hurts like **** considering people use headsets. The thing is WE SHOULDN'T have to deal with this at all.

And the voice over thing doesn't happen that much. I am on voxli most of the time and it is either a ton of people or no one talking.

Also the reason I bring up the troll thing is. It could be the same person(by that I mean people) that did it to me.

These people are not allowed there, nor appreciated there. I'm willing to overlook those two conditions, provided they don't attempt to disrupt the chatroom. They are actively and consciously doing exactly that. Therefore I conclude that it is reasonable to try to block them from entering.

Kay: Your comparison of what the trolls are doing and what members do isn't a bad one, but it was factored into the rules. (SELF-RIGHTEOUS mode engaged!) It's a Soft Rule, meaning it does not come into effect unless someone complains about it. I believe this thread counts as 'complaining about it'.

Of course, the method of enforcing such rules also has to be a valid one. It's no good removing the trolls if the entire group is also impacted, which is why we've got this discussion going now: to kick around ideas on how to best solve this.

I've put forward the suggestion of culling members by post count and rep count. This has been vetoed as 'disgusting'. A bit more elaboration here would be appreciated.

I've also put forward the idea of culling members every so often, by making a thread in this group and removing everyone who fails to post in the thread within a week or so.

Other people have suggested moving around different rooms. While I accept that this words as a temporary means to improve the situation, it can cripple activity and it requires two or more people to manage it. There is also the issue of trolls using their names to troll by entering and exiting. Then they can also evade bans, because Voxli bannings are bottom-tier. So ideally, I'd prefer a different solution for the long-run.

Oh yeah, let's not have discussion get too heated. It'd be far too ironic to turn this discussion into a flame war.

The problem with this is that you force people to post a certain amount on KHV until they are allowed into voxli. While this may work, there will be a problem of generalizing every newbie to the site as a potential troll, which will most likely have a negative effect on how people view Voxli; like something exclusive. Even though it is exclusive to this group, it is still KHV related (even though it's unofficial.)

Because what do rep count and post count have to do with anything? It has been emphasised time and time again that Voxli and KHV are not the same thing, but you're turning it into a sort of "has to be earned" feature of the site. It isn't fair, there are some prems for example who don't have much rep, and there are normal members who have a lot of rep but hardly any posts. Besides which, don't forget that RP and Spam zone don't count for posts. I am half wondering if you are trying to enforce this to go in line with your newest idea for bumping activity which we have spoken about.

I also disagree with removing people if they fail to post in an activty thread. Sometimes people have irl stuff that keeps them away from the computer, why punish them for having a life?

This is draining the fun out of voxli completely, and you know, the really sad thing is, its everyone's reactions and over-reacting that is causing more damage than the trolls are. I would also just like to add that I heavily resent being labelled as a troll myself or a "troll supporter" just because I express an opposing opinion to the majority. That is ******ed. I couldn't troll myself out of a wet paper bag.

As for the fact that this thread is a complaint thread, so the trolls have to be punished, I'll just make a complain thread every time someone normal in voxli does something annoying, then they can be removed too, because hey, then it would class as complaining about it right?

I do apologise if I am coming across as irritated and agressive, that isn't my intention, I just think this entire thing is being blown massively out of proportion, and that the troll(s) are being allowed to win.

I would like to further add, that lately Voxli has become a miserable little place, everyone complaining about bloody everything, I swear, if the place goes more than 5 minutes without someone whining about something its a bloody miracle.

Everyone just needs to lighten the frick up and calm down.

Oh, I also disagree with the whole multiple room thing, what I think would be a better solution is for P to give his voxli password to one (or more) other people so that even when he isn't there, the place can be modded etc. That being said, it would have to be someone he trusts and not just randomly passed out, since it has the potential to go extremely haywire. Everyone jumps ship far too easily, and I honestly believe this is because of members wanting the power of being in control of a room, see: people moving to "modded" rooms when Pika is being "trolled" (but not really since they are hardly trolls) and being kicked because whoever is in charge of said room doesn't like them.

I feel I am becoming tl;dr so I'll end this here.

Ah, so it is this idea of exclusivity that makes it unappealing. On one hand, it is treating every newbie as a potential troll, and making this exclusively for KHV members. On the other hand, do we want non-KH-Vidians to have access to Voxli?

Even so, I see your gripe. I can't very well tell members 'Don't tell your non-KHV friends the password; just get them to register and join the group' in one breath and then add criteria for joining in the other. So we'll rule that one out for now.

How about the other one? The monthly/fortnightly culling?

EDIT: Didn't see Kay's post. Replying now...

That is completely different, because whoever is trolling, joins to do nothing but annoy. There is no other reason what so ever. That's why people react to it, it's not trolling, it's just being an asshole.
Someone trolling by saying something stupid or playing music like that once in a while, as long as they reveal who it is occasionally; that's ok. But when they do it repeatedly and stays anonymous, it's a problem.

@ P, I am glad you can see my point. As with the culling, ok, I can accept a compromise if the thread is available for longer period of time. How about they get removed if, they are active on the site, but don't post in the thread? That would imply they are active enough to be online and are just not posting in the thread. Whereas someone who is completely away from the site, they should be allowed to stay, at least until their circumstances are known. Is that a fair compromise? I want to work with you on this because I do want voxli to go back to being fun.

As for non-KHVidians being linked to voxli, I personally have no problem with that. Think about it, like that person said, it IS a good way to interact with members and get a feel for what the member mentality is like before joining the site. (Though if I was a potential new member and saw it lately I would back out and never consider joining the site again). Obviously I don't think its a good idea for someone to invite all fifty million of their friends to voxli, but I see no problem with them inviting someone over. It would be nice if they said though, like, "Hey guys I'm inviting a friend to come and talk" instead of being mysterious stranger about it.

@ Noroz, for the record I wasn't being serious. At all. Quite frankly I am not that immature. I was being facetious. However, it is exactly the same thing. Both are irritating and annoying. Regardless of whether it is someone who chooses to reveal their name or someone who chooses to be anonymous. I actually find it more annoying when the regular members of voxli do it, because they spend so much time complaining about "trolls" doing it, and then go do it themselves. See my point? People cannot get mad about someone doing something, that they themselves go and do three minutes later.

By the way; Activity is reflected in that people get the password, as it is changed every week. Everyone on the channel has to be able to access it somehow (except if they're given it outside of here) But I mean, that's the rule, isn't it?

And I don't mind if non-KHV members join, per se, but if it's a set rule, it is there to be followed. That's what rules are for.

I do agree with you on both counts. And I do agree that rules are there to be followed, and that any aspect of society, needs rules to function. I just think it is getting a little overkill on requirements and rules and regulations. It makes me a sad Kay :c
