Phones: Relatively destroyed, the landlines would likely be in disrepair. Small areas could logically have functioning homephones between each other, but power will also be need.
Clothing: Scavenged pre-apocalypse likely starting point. Clothes after could be made out of old fabrics, taken from the dead, made from nature. Likely mix of old Pre-apocalypse clothes and Post-apocalypse.
Electricity: Natural powers such as hydroplants and sunlgiht could be a source, as well as slave powered if you want or domesticated animals also. Lava and heat sources could be useful, but tricky to handle at first. Possible nuclear power station may be of use, but highly unlikely.

As for technology, we could easily go sci-fi, since this genre is already sci fi, adding the use of laser weapons or space machines and robots wouldn't be too far of a stretch.
But I think that the inclusion of basic weaponry and technol0ogy will also be a good thing to play on, like hammers and bows, simple and easy to make weapons that are useful.

 

Hmm. We've got the problem of metropolises being everywhere. Need to fix that, as we need a barren wasteland.

I'm thinking either massive earthquakes, or a concrete-eating plague.

 

Hmm, how about a series of continuous natural disasters - floods, earthquakes, tsunamis, volcano eruptions ect. for a period of time, wiping out most signs of civilisation. This could also have been caused by something hidden and man-made - possible secret?

Also we need more characters, preferably using Jayn's form to give them some more depth. Like wise, Ventus108, do you mind filling in Jayn's form with her? On another note, I also think we should have a range of ages, mostly over 18. Although, I admit I made my character really young as it fit much better with her story.

 

@Midnight: This story is focused on the exiled group and their journey, we may be able to discuss the cause of the apocalypse tha they live in but it's a bit far-fetched and off point from the characters. I'm not sure if we should go that way with this, but we'll see. Also, all those disasters would have to happen at the same time on a massively titanic scale to affect the whole world's infrstructure. Just wanted to say that, no poin to it really.

@P: I would've said metal eating plague, most all modern concrete structures would be destroyed since the metal inside the concrete structure would cause structural weakness and it would collapse in on itself. But I'm happy with either, as long as we get somewhere with this.
