KHV: Fantasy RPG

This is a repost of the original thread that I think I started in 2009/2010-ish area. The game has changed a lot since then and this post may not reflect its contents correctly. Also, there are no downloads as of now due to me doing final testing of the latest update. I am tempted to release it in instalments and have a guide for save data transferring. I am also still accepting sprites. Added the links to sprite and faceart makers at the bottom. Expect a lot of updates.

Out of sheer boredom I started messing with all my game making software and ended up messing with things in RPG Maker and created this after a conversation on msn. Within about 1 and a half to 2 months I finished it. It’s only a demo in reality seeing how nothing about it is 100% final and may change if I end up making a full game. Anywho, have fun with it, it was kinda fun making it (especially with all the jokes and comedy I threw in there) and definitely killed my boredom XD.

So far I’ve not added anyone who isn’t me just in case certain people don’t want to be added. Pretty much every NPC that isn’t an existing character or myself is either a “program” or a non-existent noob so there’s nothing to offend anyone who exists XD (Although now it’s changed with the inclusion of actual members)

Basic sum up of the game: KH-Vids.net as a fantasy world with magic and swords. A bit like FF and .Hack combined but with internet drama.

Plot:

The internet is a different place to those with imagination.
A flood of newcomers hit the site, not all of them noobs. A promising newbie, Ven’tor, is pulled into an odd adventure as he overcomes alts, drama, lag and viruses. Along the way to recognition he meets many allies and enemies both real and programmed.

Main(ish) Characters:

Ven’tor: The main character of the game, he barely talks about himself and seems to just be a “don’t knock it till you try it” type of guy. He can be altered the most into the player’s preference and with different classes his appearance changes.

Flowzer: The second character to be playable. He is also non-existent in reality and is more of a confident flirt than anything else. He starts as a thief.

Terrin The third character to be playable and last of the “newbie trio”. Also non-existent in reality and is somewhat of an arrogant egotist not realizing they’re a noob.

Fayt-Harkwind (lol me): The first mod you encounter and apparently has been forced to be a guide to new members.

(I’ll add more characters soon, I just never got around to it (there’s like 20 of you so far))

Anywho, all scripts and some sprites used belong to certain and many members of RPGMakerVX.com.
Existing characters from FF, KH and anything else belong to the correct owners and not me. To prevent drama.

The game isn’t working after I’ve downloaded it what do I do?
Re-download it I guess. You’ve probably downloaded it wrong (if at all possible)

I keep dying, why?
You keep forgetting to go back and heal or took on a tough enemy with only a priest.

Ew, side view battle system. Why did you do this?
It was originally going to be a Tactical Grid Battle System but the JP system wouldn’t work with it.

Why does my class name change to something like “Mystic Knight” when I have a primary and sub class?
That’s because it’s a combo class name. I think it’s from FFT.

Can I send you sprites/face arts/etc of myself to be in the game or other things?
Sure, but don’t go asking to be the main character since I don’t want anyone feeling superior over another due to this small time game.

Can I link to this on other sites?
PM me about it and we’ll discuss whether the site you want to put this on is cool beans or not. Anyway, why would you want to?

What’s with cat and the dragon?

Can I be in the game?
Sure, I’m hoping to replace a lot of NPC’s I currently have with actual KHV quotes and members and add a few more and some to be playable.

What’s with the blacksmith’s chin?
It’s just huge. That is all.

Isn’t that insulting someone?
Nope. Or it’s not meant to seeing how no one in the demo but me is a real person and nearly almost everything else is a reference to a joke.

You just did, but you can PM me with some more questions If you have any.

*One last thing, try not to spam this thread please. CnC isn’t really needed for a few obvious reasons but if you have any ideas or want to help with graphics/music/etc feel free to post/PM/VM or you could even discuss plot and other aspects. Also, report bugs. Apparently sometimes the game doesn’t download correctly and things start acting up.

For making you're own sprites find the male sprites here and female sprites here.
For making a face art please use this.
Any additional changes can be made by me personally. I won't do all changes though, I'll definitely change the skin colour to correct ones if you wish me to and I can also add some extra details to objects on the sprite that the generator lacks.

As you may have noticed there is a lot of information missing, if anyone remembers anything that was missing feel free to inform me. I already know I need to add back the class list lol.

I'm planning to release the next parts to the game in chunks and let players transfer save data over each time so it won't mean going back to level 1 every time.

 

good idea, is there any way to make edit the main character, change his name and stuff?

and could you possibly put some other music, that other one gets annoying, maybe KH instrumental openings?

I'm not asking for suggestions. This has been going for years so I don't need suggestions at this point.
I've decided to not let the main character be changeable because knowing most people they would name the character after themselves, when they could already be in the game already. Also, it wouldn't make sense with the plot.

There's more than "one music" and no. I'm not using KH songs.

I'll take your sprite. I always need more sprites.

 

okay, the game is pretty good, but i cant control Ven´tor and when i go to "party" he is red

I was having some problems with it, so I re downloaded it. Gonna try again. I shall inform you if the problems persist.

 

In the previous version of this thread before it was deleted I noted that the game sometimes causes bugs after downloading for unknown reasons. Sometimes the bugs can be fixed simply by going back to a previous save or closing and reopening the program, for everything else there's mastercard you'd probably have to redownload it.

 

There's a bug that if you turn the game volume down below 100% for all of them, then you can't see any in-game text from NPCs.

So it's fine if you have it at 100% all the time, but if you turn it down then ...

 

That appears to be a switching problem. I reset a few things back to defaults so I could reposition them but I must have missed that one. I'll be able to fix that quite easily. I'll either include it in the next release or update the current one.
Does it still happen if you decrease the volume on only one of the bars?
