According to whatever the fuck my mind made up, all I know is that I jumped over your backyard wall and climbed into your room via the window. Why? I don't even know. You...however were facing the other way--never saw the face, of course--and feeding a flippin' Pikachu through a hole in your wall. There were baby Pikachus all over your room. Me, along with some people who also just happen to be there were rushing you to get yo ass ready because we were going to be late for school. Oh, and your mom was the driver btw. Then for some reason, the outside of your room was my apartment complex and my new neighbors were involved. They fed some stray cat, and the cat choked and died.

I swear, I am NOT crazy. But I always get strange dreams like this when my insomnia and stress is at its peak *cough*floating-dragonfly-dinosaour outside my wondow*cough*. Wonder if it's time to call a doc yet. =/

 

The oddest dream that I've had goes as follows.

I 'wake up' realizing I'm late for school. I of course take the most intelligent route. I run to the waterfront ('round 600m from my house) and grab a water motorcycle and head for school. At some point I realize that I should be collecting coins or something. I ride around for some time, arriving at a theatre. For some reason I see people form The Random Family. I go to my place, sitting next to CtR. During the concert I 'fall asleep'. 'The dream' consists of a brief glimpse of a Gummi Ship. As soon as I 'wake up', the concert is over. Then we walk down the Maria Street (a near vertical street from the Church of the Chross to the marketplace in my home town). For some reason, EB has to sleep at our house... End of dream.

Crazy, right?

Well that's interesting. When I can be bothered, I usually dream about impending death. I think Bokurano has emotionally scarred me.

 

Funny, it had no impact on me. Unlike Immortality(working title)... Especially some scenes I've been planning lately. Let me just say, having the most popular guitarist of his time being impaled by a metal bar through his ribcage.. Or a 'tour guide' choking to death in a 'glass tornado'. But maybe the most scarring death is the death of a hypnotist.. Dying in a women's toilet with broken sinks that are pouring water. And holding a chocolate chip cookie.

I dare you to guess who the last person is based on.

And I just realized I gave away some important plot points.. Well, you're not going to know that I'm talking about El Kitarr, Atlas and D. F. Tinmea- shit.

I know. If I had done something as awful as that, I would have at the very least stopped. That's the part that pisses me off the most!

Thanx guys. Knowing you guys are here always makes me feel good. : ) I can only hope that who ever did it(If they knew) feels bad enough to come back. But that's just wishful thinking. t_t

 

I think it probably scarred me because I most identified with the guy who spent his last days huddled up in his room, terrified of dying. Oh, and then he tries to rape a friend of his, is warded off by a knife, goes insane when piloting the robot by running away, all over civilians only to be taunted by a friend of his who he starts beating to a pulp until aforementioned friend he tried to rape stabbed him in the neck.

Oh, and she turned out to have her own massive host of problems, as did the next kid. And the next one. And the next one. And the next one.

This Immortality sounds like horror, but Bokurano captured the psychological aspect of it. To properly terrify your audience, you need a familiar setting and characters who act like they do so they can relate. It doesn't matter how much gore you put in; it will only sicken/amuse the audience, not terrify them. Elfen Lied isn't scary, just gory.

Oh, and shock =//= true fear. A hideous slasher face jumping out of a closet will make the audience jump and it may put them on edge, but it won't make them think about it over and over.

Empathy is the strongest tool of horror.

Then again, perhaps I've got the whole aim of horror mixed up and it's not supposed to psychologically scar you. >.>

 

Actually, Immortality is fantasy/scifi. I admit that there maybe some horror elements but it's not meant to be scary in the same way as Bokurano.
