KH - Fast Food Madness! V2

Kairi felt the tears begin to form in her eyes, and she reached up and cupped his cheek in her hand. "Sora...you didn't fail," she began. She paused, having to think through his words and her own she wanted to speak.

 

When Sora felt Kairi's gentle hand on his face, he slowly opened his eyes and gazed at the redhead. He felt a few tears flood his eyes as he gazed into her eyes and stayed silent, unable to think of anything else to say.

 

Kairi knew her eyes were glistening with tears as she finally found the right words to speak. "You didn't let me down, Sora. You helped me defeat her." Her eyes looked deeply into his, which were also a little watery themselves. "That's what I asked of you. I needed you to help me, and you did. Don't say you failed, because you didn't. If you hadn't weakened her, I wouldn't be here..." Kairi paused, and a tear trickled down her cheek. "You did protect me, from the Darkness that wanted me. You are my Light, and that's what defeated Dark Kairi." Kairi bit her lip for a second. "I might've gotten hurt, but you did what you had to, Sora. Don't say you failed when you didn't."

 

Sora shut his eyes for a moment, thinking. What Kairi said...was it really true? He supposed that he did weaken Dark Kairi, and if he hadn't, then Kairi wouldn't be with him telling him that stuff. Was that failure? No, it sounded like success to him. Sort of. He just desperately wished he could have protected Kairi from some of that pain. He had watched her suffer...

 

Kairi took in a breath that was a little shaky as she looked at him with her sad eyes. Dark Kairi would be in her place if Sora hadn't helped her, and she was so grateful for it. She knew it caused him pain when he had to do it, but he should know that the fact she was here after it all conquered everything else.

 

Sora nod once, a little unsure. "Okay," he whispered softly, opening his eyes a crack and looking down at their hands, which were still together. He'd believe anything that Kairi said. And if she really meant that...and he hadn't failed her, then that definitly helped.

 

Kairi bit her lip and let her hand leave his face. She closed her eyes and felt her wet eyelashes touch her cheeks. She'd meant every word she said, and that was because, in her eyes, it was true. Dark Kairi had been a pest, but they had handled it together. And that's why they were here.

 

Sora sighed softly, still feeling choked up even though he hadn't let any of his tears escape. He shut his eyes again, Kairi's words sinking in. He knew that she would never say something like that unless she absolutely meant it, and that was a huge encouragement.

 

Kairi exhaled quietly through her nose as she kept her eyes closed. Just thinking about the battle made Kairi want to let the tears fall. That'd been a traumatic experience, and unfortunately both her and Sora had to go through it.

 

Sora sucked in a breath and opened his eyes, seeing Kairi still in front of him. She still looked pretty sad, and he could only think of one way to possibly help with that. He wanted to embrace her, but he was afraid that if he used his right arm, she would feel his cast, and then that would bring back more bad memories. Man, he really hated having that thing.

 

Kairi felt like a baby, wanting to cry like this. But she couldn't help it. It had been a lot for her, like everything else, and she didn't like bottling things up inside when that only made her feel worse.

 

"Hey," Sora said softly, tugging at her hand slightly as he used his right arm to push himself into a more upright position. It rang out in pain when he put force on it, but he fought it off. He could embrace Kairi much more easily if he was sitting up.

 

Kairi opened her eyes at his voice and the tug on her hand, her eyes finding him sitting up. She automatically sat up herself, concerned.

 

Sora gently looked into her eyes and brought up his throbbing right arm, gently stroking Kairi's cheek with hand thumb.

 

Kairi appreciated his gentle touch, her eyes on his. The tears were still there, but they weren't falling, which she was kind of thankful for. She kept her violet-blue eyes on his piercing blue as his thumb stroked her cheek lightly.

 

Sora inhaled softly as he took his arm away and leaned over slightly, wrapping both arms lightly around Kairi's form.

Kairi wrapped her arms around Sora when he embraced her. She closed her eyes as she hugged him, her eyelashes tickling her cheeks.

Sora gently rest his head above Kairi's shoulder as he held her in his arms. "We'll get through it," Sora promised softly, shutting his eyes halfway and gazing down at the arms he had wrapped around Kairi.

 

Kairi nodded slightly; she believed him. She bit her lip and opened her eyes, looking over at the other empty bed in the room.

 

"We've gotten through everything else," Sora continued softly. "We can make it through this too." He shut his eyes and tilt his head slightly, resting it lightly on Kairi's shoulder.
