KH - Fast Food Madness! V2

Kairi pulled her legs up to her chest and wrapped her arms around them as she sat on the couch. It had to have been her... Flu symptoms wouldn't just disappear like that like nothing happened.

Sora cried out in pain when he felt pain shoot through his arm. Now that he was in an upright position, he lowered his gaze to his right arm. Of course; it was still in a cast. He frowned at the cast and made a soft sound of disgust as he waited for the pain to fade.

But did that also mean that she could go see Sora? Kairi perked up a little at the thought. If it was Dark Kairi that made her so sick, maybe she had nothing wrong with her now. But Kairi couldn't be sure. She had to stay home for at least another 24 hours to make sure the sickness wore off. She couldn't risk getting Sora sick like that. And she needed this headache to go away first.

 

Sora sighed softly, bringing up his left hand and ruffling his hair. It really stunk being in the hosptital all alone. He had only been awake for a few minutes, and he could already feel the dark thoughts creeping up on him. Thinking about what happened was inevitable, no matter how hard he tried to forget everything.

 

Kairi sighed softly in sadness at her realization and she curled up in one corner of the couch, resting her head on one of the couch pillows. Whatever time it was now, she had to wait until that time the next day to get out and moving again.

 

Sora blinked softly and turned his eyes to the window, flinching slightly at the bright lights. Guessing by the lighting of the city, he would say it was mid afternoon. He exhaled quietly, putting his left hand back down on the bed. It was going to be a long day. There was no way he was going back to sleep any time soon, and his only other option was thinking. And he really didn't want to think about anything.

 

Kairi wanted to sleep because it would make time go by faster, but she also knew that after being conked out through most of the day, she wouldn't be able to sleep anymore. She flitted her eyes to the television, watching the news.

 

Sora turned the rest of his body, his legs dangling off the side of the bed as he gazed at the window.

 

Kairi watched the show for a few minutes, bored by some news about a plane crash. Her eyes closed for a minute as she sighed in relaxation, and then she opened them again just as the segment ended and it went to a short commercial break.

 

The thoughts invaded his mind, starting with running through the entire battle again. He remembered that at the moment where he had stood by Kairi, facing Dark Kairi and pointing his keyblade at her close to the start of the battle, he had promised that he would do anything to protect Kairi. But then...then he found out he couldn't get rid of the girl because she looked like Kairi. So he had failed Kairi by not being able to do what was necessary. That failure hurt him so badly. He never wanted to break a promise, especially not one that he made to himself and to Kairi.

 

Kairi's eyes widened when she heard the first commercial come on. The name Boston Market flooded her ears and she immediately grabbed the remote and shut the TV off, silence entering the room as the memories of that day haunted her mind.

 

And then...he remembered her scream. When Dark Kairi had invaded Kairi, he heard her scream fill his ears and explode inside his mind. And he had screamed with her, terrified of what was happening at that moment. He shivered at the memory, tears flooding to his eyes.

 

A chill went down Kairi's spine at the thought of the pain she and Sora had gone through, as well as Roxas. And then she started thinking...maybe that's when Dark Kairi had come into the equation. After Kairi got hurt, and thought she had failed to help Sora and Roxas...

 

Sora shift uncomfortably at the topic, forcing his tears to disapear. He had no right to cry after he had failed so miserably. He really felt like he needed to get up and move, but he knew that he would probalby only fall back down. Besides, where could he have gone? There was no escape from any of this mess, no matter where he went.

 

That's where the negativity had started to come in, and eventually, that had been all Kairi thought of; how she let them down and thought the worst of things. She knew now that that was how Dark Kairi had appeared. Dark Kairi had made her think even worse of things and eventually caused Kairi to grow sicker and sicker as the days passed by. Kairi now knew that Dark Kairi had planned to invade her from the start, which was why she had to have her be alone. But then the tables had turned when Sora had shown up in the same black area as Kairi and Dark Kairi had been. Kairi sighed and cradled her head in her hands. She was so grateful that he had been there to help her, but she also regretted him being there.

 

Sora felt more miserable than he had in a very, very long time. The next time he saw Kairi, he had to beg for her forgiveness. If he had just finished off Dark Kairi when he had the chance, maybe the rest of that awful stuff wouldn't have happened.

 

She'd had a feeling from the start that it was dangerous for him. He shouldn't have been there...He shouldn't have been there, she thought over again as she covered her face with her hands. Sora had gotten hurt because of her, and in more ways than one. She didn't know how he had gotten there in the first place, but she would have rather surrendered to Darkness than have Sora get hurt like that. But if she did, she knew she would have hurt him more than anyone ever could. It would have broken his heart to see her do such a thing, let alone hear her say it.

 

Somewhere deep in his heart, Sora knew otherwise though. He knew that he wouldn't have been able to defeat Dark Kairi physically in a situation like that. After all, she was...Kairi's darkness. It wasn't something that you could just physically destroy and defeat, right? Sora felt a pang of sorrow in his heart, thinking back to when he and Kairi ran into AntiSora. He had only defeated him physically, hadn't he? Had he really conquered him? Or could he see AntiSora again in the future? He was afraid to answer any of those questions.

 

Kairi pushed herself off the couch while she made a sound of disgust. She couldn't think like that! She knew she shouldn't! Kairi sighed and brought a hand to her forehead when she got up too fast and her headache only throbbed harder. She really needed to get rid of this thing. But she knew she had to be patient.

 

Sora made a sound of disgust, shaking his head and shutting his eyes as his head started to hurt from his hard thinking. He didn't want to think about any of that.
