KH - Fast Food Madness! V2

Roxas knew the finale of the show was coming; the last firework went up and the show paused for a moment. He knew that in a few seconds the best part of the show would begin.

Kairi spit into the toilet before flushing it. She leaned back against the wall, closing her eyes. One tear slid down her cheek. This was miserable.

 

Namine watched in awe as the grand finale unrolled in front of her eyes.

Sora bit his lip and rolled over, facing away from the window and the bright fireworks that explode outside it. He put one hand to his stomach, feeling sick.

 

As the fireworks shot up in the air in a beautiful frenzy, Roxas smiled before speaking. "You know what the New Years tradition is, right?" he asked, his eyes on the show.

Kairi bit her lip as more tears left her eyes. This was not only miserable, but she was miserable as well. Sora was in the hospital, probably worrying about her when he needed to focus on himself first, she was sick, and she was away from him. She didn't want any of it anymore; the sickness, the hospital, the unhappiness. All she wanted was Sora, to be with him now, especially on New Years.

 

Namine curiously turned her eyes to Roxas, shaking her head slightly. "No..."

Sora felt his heartrate increase as he grabbed at his stomach more tightly, a quiet groan escaping his lips. Why did he feel so queezy all of a sudden? It felt like his cheeks were burning up too.

 

Roxas looked down at her, his smile still on his lips. He lowered his head a little. "You don't?"

Kairi brought her knees up to her chest, her stomach still hurting her despite the fact that she just emptied it.

 

"No," Namine said, feeling a little confused. What was he talking about?

Sora bit his lip harder, trying to fight off the urge to vommit. He felt absolutely terrible, and he couldn't completely understand why.

 

She didn't know the tradition that a lot of people did when the clock struck 12? Roxas bit his lip. "Okay, then I'll tell you," he said with a soft smile.

Kairi felt more tears leave her eyes as she leaned her forehead against her knees, her tears falling into her lap.

 

Namine felt a small smile appear on her face, simply because of Roxas'. But she was still clueless. She had never heard of any tradition or anything like that.

Sora took in a deep breath and let it back out, following this pattern several times as he tried to calm himself down. The noises in his head had started to quiet, but he still didn't feel right.

 

"You know how you watch people on TV kiss on New Year's, right when the clock strikes 12?" Roxas asked, turning his gaze to the last few fireworks in the sky. "That's the tradition."

Kairi took in a deep breath through her nose, trying to make the tears stop.

 

Namine had never really thought of that as a tradition, but now that he mentioned it, she did recognize that as a certain kind of tradition. She smiled softly at him for a moment, and then followed his gaze out the window.

Sora let out a soft sigh when he started to feel a little better, the queezy feeling starting to fade. But he still felt pretty overheated.

 

Roxas would've kissed Namine if it weren't for him coming in late. He guessed he still could do it, but it wouldn't really have the same affect.

Kairi bit her lip, her headache throbbing and her stomach turning. How many days was this going to last?

 

Namine blinked, a small smile on her lips as she watched the last group of multi-colored fireworks explode.

Sora let his head sink into his pillow and shut his eyes halfway. In the back of his mind, he noticed that the fireworks had stopped illuminating the sky and his room.

 

The room grew dark as the last firework faded in the sky. But Roxas still had his smile on his face despite the fact that it was over.

 

Namine kept her eyes looking out the window for a few moments after the fireworks finished. When her light blue eyes started to go tired from staring, she shut them.

 

Roxas stared at the night sky, seeing the stars twinkle in the sky. The silence between him and Namine wasn't something he would call awkward, but calming in a way, especially after the amazement of the show. He turned his head to her, the pale moonlight being the only illumination in the room as it shined on their faces.

Kairi was exhausted. She was weak and tired from being sick for almost two days, and she hated being away from the person she loved so much. She hoped he was all right, and that he forgave her for not being there. As much as she wanted to be beside him, Kairi definitely did not want to contaminate Sora.

 

Namine kept her eyes closed for a few seconds, and then she opened them again, immediatly noticing the dim moonlight that flood the room. She smiled faintly and gazed up at the sky.

Sora let his eyes close as he relaxed again, ignoring the sense that something was wrong. He softly exhaled, trying to fall back asleep.

 

Roxas smiled softly and then followed her gaze, the moonlight shining on his face.

Kairi wouldn't see him until she was better, no matter how much it hurt her to wait. It'd be better for Sora, that way he wouldn't be sick.

 

Namine kept a small smile on her lips as she gazed over at Roxas, seeing the dim light reflecting off his piercing blue eyes.

Sora rolled over and opened his eyes, facing the window. Now that he was feeling a little better, he could finally take everything in. It was New Years, and he was stuck here. Alone. And Kairi was sick and Roxas had a broken leg. Heh, some new year.

 

Roxas kept his eyes on the sky, smiling softly. "Happy New Year, Namine." His voice was soft in the dark room.

Kairi started crying again at the thought of the New Year, Sora being alone, her being sick... She didn't know how Namine and Roxas were, but she knew that he had a broken leg, nonetheless. This was a great way to start off a new year. A tear slid down her cheek among many as she sucked in a breath.

 

Namine smiled up at Roxas softly. "Happy New Year," she replied softly, her eyes gazing into his even though he wasn't looking at her.

If all these horrible circumstances was a foreshadowing of how the rest of the year would be, then this year would not be good. Sora recognized that. He could only hope that with the end of the past year, all of their sorrow and pain would die with it. It obviously wouldn't happen right away, but he hoped it would happen soon.
