KH - Fast Food Madness! V2

Roxas bit his lip a little, wondering if he could find his way around the house. "I'll be back in a minute," he stated, letting his hand lightly slip out of Namine's. He pushed himself up from the couch, starting to walk slowly toward where the doorway was. A street light was shining through one of the windows, so he could see at least that far.

 

"Okay," Namine responded quietly, her eyes moving up slightly. She saw a faint movement in front of her, and she knew that it was Roxas.

 

Roxas blinked a few times, his eyes still not adjusted to the lighting. He tried to remember where he kept a flashlight, and wondered if it was in the back closet at the end of the downstairs hallway. He turned, remembering the outline of his house, starting down the hallway.

 

Namine saw another flash of lightning and it made her nervous, the light showing all the shadows of the room. She felt like a child, being afraid of a simple lightning storm. But it was more than that; she was alone. And bad things always happened when she was alone...at least lately, they have, anyway.

 

Roxas let his left hand stick out at his side, his fingertips running along the wall as he walked. The flash of lightning let him see ahead of him a little, catching a glimpse of the staircase that he was in the path of. Roxas stepped over a little and passed it in the darkness, knowing the supplies closet was just down the hall.

 

Namine shivered slightly, hearing the rain pour down outside. There was a loud rumble of thunder, and Namine jumped at the noise, feeling startled and afraid. She didn't want to be afraid anymore; the stress being too much for her. The tears started to run freely down her cheeks as she looked through the darkness. The only thing she wanted was to be happy...with Roxas.

 

Roxas sucked in a breath at the roar of thunder, the rumble scaring him a little. He continued his pace down the hall though, his finger trailing the wall so he knew he wouldn't run into anything. Roxas stuck his other arm out in front of him so he knew when he reached the end of the hall. He was thankful he did, because a second after he put his arm up, it hit a wall. Roxas lowered his hand to find the doorknob to the closet, his eyes searching for it.

 

Namine brought her knees up to her chest, at that moment realizing that the blanket was still covering her lightly. She didn't think about it too deeply though, Namine's feeling of fear being the one emotion that filled her heart most. The girl wrapped her arms around her legs, pulling them close to her chest.

 

Roxas felt himself smile a little in satisfaction as he felt the doorknob. He turned it and pulled on the door, opening it. Light came in a little from the window to his left, and Roxas used it to his advantage. He narrowed his eyes as he peered through the dim light, raising his hand to try and find the flashlight. He heard something hit the floor, knowing he knocked something over. He ignored it, continuing to search for the flashlight. Roxas' hands hit yet another object, the boy catching a glimpse of it falling. He used his fast reflexes to reach down and catch it before it hit the floor, but the fast movement caused his side to ring out in pain. Roxas sucked in a breath, squeezing his eyes shut.

 

Namine inhaled softly, burrying her head in her knees when she heard another loud rumble of thunder outside.

 

Roxas put the object back on the shelf, unsure of what it was. He felt around a little for the outline of a flashlight. It took him a minute, but he finally felt something close to it. He picked it up, turning it over in his hand as he looked for the sliding trigger to turn the light on. He felt a soft sigh leave him when the light suddenly flipped on, the boy now able to see clearly in front of him. Roxas held the flashlight in his right hand lightly as he shut the closet door. He turned around, holding the flashlight up as he proceeded back toward the living room.

 

Namine's eyebrows furrowed when the sound of cracking filled her ears, another lightning bolt going off outside. She exhaled shakily, burrying her head more deeply into her knees. She hated this fear she felt in her heart, disliking it so greatly because it made her feel childish. What, was she six years old? What was so terrifying about a thunder storm? She bit her lip lightly, knowing that wasn't the question that needed to be answered. In fact, there was no question that needed to be answered, because she already understood why she was so afriad. I'm afraid because I'm alone. I feel panicked, unprotected...vulnerable. Those were feelings that she had felt way too much lately.

 

Roxas turned the corner down the hall, walking toward the doorway to the living room. He flinched at the loud lightning as it struck through the sky, temporarily lighting up the room. He reached the doorway, moving his hand and directing the flashlight toward the couch. The light found Namine's form, her light blonde hair sticking out. Roxas' eyebrows furrowed slightly, but then that aura engulfed his form as he entered the room. He shined the light down on the floor so he didn't trip, making his way over to Namine.

 

Namine inhaled softly through her nose, the grip around her legs loosening slightly. She stayed in that position though, the girl not realizing that she wasn't alone anymore.

 

Roxas silently approached the couch, keeping the light on the floor in case Namine looked up. He didn't want to blind her. He looked at her for a moment in the dim light provided by the object in his hand, and then sat down right beside her. His hand went up and rested on the girl's back.

 

Namine jumped slightly at the light touch, being on edge from everything that happened...and was still happening. She slowly brought her head out of her knees, turning it toward Roxas.

 

"Sorry," Roxas apologized softly. "I didn't mean to scare you." The flashlight was still shining on the floor, but it provided enough light for Roxas to be able to see a little of Namine's face.

 

Namine shook her head slightly, the girl being able to see Roxas because of the dim light in the room. "It's not your fault; I'm just really on edge," she said softly, her voice being the only sound in the room at that moment.

 

Roxas' lips pressed together at Namine's words and he nodded a little. He understood why, though she was probably feeling different emotions than he was.

 

Namine bit her lip slightly, keeping her gaze on Roxas. Another bolt of lightning cracked outside and she jumped...again. She exhaled heavily through her nose, frustrated with her own emotions.
