KH - Fast Food Madness! V2

Roxas reached up and took the clothes with his good hand, meeting Namine's eyes and nodding. "Thanks," he said softly, exhaling. He felt a drop of water drip from one of his spikes on the back of his head and land on the back of his neck, causing him to shiver a little. He walked past Namine silently and headed for the downstairs bathroom to change and get dry again.

 

Namine nodded slightly at Roxas' response, her eyes staying locked on his until he went past her. Once he was out of sight, Namine let her eyes fall to the ground, feeling a great sense of worry. Not only did Roxas seem hurt, but he also seemed distressed. She wasn't sure exactly what was going on inside his head, but that mystery wouldn't be unlocked without Roxas telling her. This emotion...this tenseness, seemed too complex for her to decyfer easily.

 

Roxas went past the staircase and toward the bathroom, shutting the door behind him once he entered it. He set the clothes on the counter, turning his head and seeing the shower. He had the urge to take a nice, hot shower, but he didn't want to leave Namine alone after what just happened. And he didn't want to be alone either. Roxas turned his attention back to the clothes on the counter, starting to carefully take off his soaked shirt.

 

Namine bit her lip lightly before starting to walk again, heading for living room. Once she was in that room, she sat herself down on the couch, blankly staring at the wall in front of her. A feeling of sadness came when she remembered that she was staring at the exact spot where Brian had held a knife to her throat. The girl looked away, her eyes diverting to the floor as she brought her knees to her chest and wrapped her arms around them tightly.

 

Roxas took off his shirt and decided to look in the mirror at his injury on his side. He turned slightly, moving his arm so he could see it. It was what he thought it would be, a red mark that was fading into a bruise, one that would be nasty, he was sure. Roxas sighed weakly and slowly started taking off his drenched pants so he could dry himself off.

 

Namine inhaled softly and then released it, her eyes staying on the floor. She didn't want to think about anything at all, just wishing that this mess would disapear completely. Things had been going more smoothly these past few days, just with her and Roxas enjoying each other's company. But now...this had to happen...

 

Once was Roxas was dry, he got dressed, slipping on the pair of black sweats and the red long-sleeved shirt Namine had picked out for him. He was thankful for the warm clothes, still a little cold even though he was dressed and dry. Roxas grabbed the towel he used and started running it over his spikes to dry his hair.

 

Namine bit her lip subconciously, her eyes flickering shut for a moment. A soft sigh left her as she sat there alone. Thunder rumbled outside, reminding her of everything that had just happened. That was the last thing she wanted to think about, of course. But she couldn't hide from the thoughts either, they were too horrible.

 

Roxas hung up the towel, cautiously using his right hand. How many punches had he landed on Brian? He couldn't remember because he had been so enraged with the guy, the way he seemed so relaxed, even when he was losing. But Roxas dismissed those thoughts as he turned and looked in the mirror, seeing his face for the first time since this morning. He blinked, seeing the mix of emotions in his eyes, emotions he couldn't describe. But he did see exhaustion in them...and weakness, only few of many that he could place. He sighed, looking away from the mirror as he grabbed onto the doorknob with his left hand and pulled the door open, silently and slowly making his way out of the room and down the hall.

 

Namine stopped biting her lip when a flash of lightning lit up the room, the girl being aware of it even though her eyes were closed. She slowly let them flicker up again as her chin rested on her knees, her gaze moving to the window for a brief moment before falling to the floor.

 

Roxas let his left hand curl into a loose fist to match his right hand as he approached the living room silently, flinching when there was a loud crack from lightning striking, almost like a whip. He let his eyes leave the socks on his feet and flitted them to the girl on the couch.

 

Another flash of lightning lit the room, and Namine shut her eyes at the flash, momentarilly blinded by the bright light. She heard some more thunder outside rumble loudly, along with the rain pouring down on the roof. It was such a gloomy day, and she felt as if the weather reflected her mood perfectly. That mood was mostly a feeling of misery. Misery that things couldn't stay peaceful. Misery that Brian had come in and threated her. Misery that Roxas was injured. Everything was miserable.

 

Roxas left his spot at the doorway, heading over to a corner of the room and grabbing a blanket. Despite his warmer clothes, he was still cold, his hair still damp from all of the rain that had poured down on him. Looking back outside, he was glad he decided to come in when he did. The storm seemed to be getting worse...if that was possible.

 

Namine opened her light blue orbs, immediatly noticing motion out of the corner of her eye. She turned her head slightly, noticing Roxas going for a blanket. She wasn't surprised; he had been soaked from the rain and cooled by the nasty wind. A soft breath left her as she looked away, her gaze landing on the floor in front of her.

 

Roxas went over to the couch with the blanket in his hand, his lips pressed together so his teeth wouldn't chatter, even the slightest bit. He approached the couch and sat down on the cushion next to Namine, staying silent as he unwrapped the blanket and began to lay it over his form.

 

When Roxas sat down, Namine gently brought her chin off her knees and unwrapped her arms, releasing her legs and letting them gently fall off the couch. She wrapped her arms lightly around her stomach, turning her head as she kept her soft gaze on Roxas.

 

Roxas let the blanket lay over his lap, feeling a soft gaze on him. He turned his head toward the direction he sensed it coming from, his eyes immediately meeting the light blue that greeted him.

 

Namine's eyes locked with Roxas', and she could immediatly tell that he felt troubled. About what, she couldn't tell, but it had to have been something that had happened. The emotions in his eyes were so scrambled, that Namine could only pick out two: tiredness and vulnerability. Her eyes softed as she kept her eyes connected with his, the blond moving one of her hands and letting it rest lightly on Roxas' arm.

 

Roxas kept his eyes with Namine's, catching one emotion in them. It was very strong; deep suffering. Roxas noticed the softening of her eyes, and he knew then that she saw whatever emotions were in his eyes; the ones he couldn't decipher.

 

Namine blinked softly one time, keeping her gaze on Roxas' eyes. She started to lightly run her hand over her arm as the tense silence surrounded them, the pressure almost suffocating.
