KH - Fast Food Madness! V2

Roxas turned his head again, looking at Namine now. He wasn't sure if she wanted him to talk, or if she wanted to explain it herself. Whichever he was, he began to wonder if the actual part about the alleyway was going to be included in the explanation.

 

After a moment of silence, Namine decided to speak. "It's a long story," she said softly, hesitant to actually get into the details. She wasn't sure exactly what Roxas had told them at the front desk, or what they already knew about the situation.

The man arched a brow slightly, wondering if the girl would say more. He needed to know a little bit more than that if he was going to be able to help.

 

Roxas flitted his eyes to the doctor, nodding in agreement with Namine's short statement. "I told the woman at the front desk about her stomach pains that's she's been having, but I didn't exactly go into detail," he stated, looking at the man in the eye. All he had really said to the woman was that Namine was having really bad stomach pains and that she couldn't stand up on her own. He wondered if the doctor knew that half of it.

 

The man nodded slightly, his gaze on Roxas again. "Yes, yes, I've heard that much. But I need to know a little more than that; like how the injury--and I'm assuming it was an injury of some kind--was recieved. And when."

Namine bit her lip slightly, her eyes falling to the hands in her lap. She wished he didn't need to know that kind of stuff; it wasn't exactly something she wanted to discuss. But...it did need to be done...

 

Roxas felt the aura in the room grow heavy, obviously with discomfort and nervousness. He pressed his lips together, lowering his gaze a little. He could tell that this wasn't going to be a very comfortable conversation.

 

Namine exhaled softly, deciding to just get it out and over with. "Some guys pulled me into an alleyway yesterday and they beat me up a little. One of them kicked me in the stomach really hard." The girl stopped there, deciding that was enough detail.

The doctor nodded slightly before raising his clipboard, looking down at that as he wrote something down.

 

Roxas bit his lip at Namine's words. He really wished he could have been there earlier to save her from this pain. Those stupid jerks...just thinking about them made Roxas have to close his eyes to calm himself down. If there was something wrong...

 

"All right; that helps some. But I'm going to have to take a look and see for myself how bad the damage is." The doctor spoke gently to Namine, seeing that the blonde girl was obviously nervous and worried about this. "If you can't stand on your own, it's possible that it's pretty serious." He finished his explaination with that one sentence, though he almost wished he could take it back. The last thing he needed was for the girl to be scared.

Namine looked at the doctor for a moment, nervously listening to his words. She didn't really want him getting much closer and... looking at her. The last time she went out and encountered other men, things hadn't ended well. She knew that this man meant well, but it was still making her nervous.

 

Roxas opened his eyes, flitting them to Namine after the doctor had spoken. He could see the fear in her eyes...and he didn't know if that was from the doctor, the hospital, or her condition.

 

Namine nodded faintly at the doctor, putting on a brave face. It needed to be done, and the sooner she got it over with, the better. She unclapsed her hands and pulled down the zipper on the jacket she wore, moving it out of the way as she slowly lift up her tanktop so her stomach was showing.

 

Roxas took in a breath, flitting his eyes to the doctor then. He was internally praying that Namine would be okay. But if she wasn't...

 

The doctor took a step forward, lowering his head slightly so he could get a better look at Namine's stomach. It was bruising; and it was over toward her right side a little more than the left. Still though, that didn't matter since the bruising was so big. And the color--black and blue-- was the sign of normal bruising. But there was a hint of yellow in the bruising, which only a trained professional would notice. He gently reached forward and lightly set a hand on it.

Namine whimpered softly at the very light touch, the man touching the worst spot. She quickly bit down on her lip to cover that whimper, silencing it completely.

 

Roxas' eyes softened at the sound, his eyebrows furrowing faintly over his eyes in concern as he looked at the girl. His eyes fell on Namine's face, and then her stomach. He pressed his lips together at the sight of it, the injury appearing bad.

 

The man nodded faintly and pulled back his hand, hearing Namine's faint whimper. "All right; I've seen enough," he said kindly, backing up slightly and standing himself fully upright.

Namine nodded softly before pulling down her tank top, lightly wrapping her arms around her stomach. It wasn't that the doctor was being rough; because he wasn't. He was being very gentle and polite. He didn't seem like a bad man.

 

Roxas turned his gaze to the doctor, fear in his piercing blue eyes. How bad was it? Was Namine going to be all right?

 

The doctor wrote down something on his clipboard before looking up at the teens. "I have good news and bad news," he started, his eyes moving back and forth between Namine and Roxas. "The good news is: It's nothing too serious."

Namine exhaled softly in relief, her eyes staying on the doctor. That was definitly good news. But what was the bad news...?

 

Roxas felt himself relax slightly, but he was still tense with the knowledge of there being bad news. He kept his eyes on the doctor, curious and afraid of the worse news.

 

"The bad news is, I can't do anything to speed up the recovery. That kick you got," he shifted his gaze to Namine and let it sit there as he spoke, "must have been very strong, because you're not only bruised on the outside, but you have some internal bruising as well. I'm guessing you've had a hard time keeping down your food?"

Namine nodded slightly, surprised at the accurate statement. This man must have really known what he was talking about if he could tell that from the appearance of her stomach.

 

Roxas looked away from the doctor at his words, his eyes going to the wall on the other side of the room. Internal bruising, too? Roxas closed his eyes and lowered his head a little, flexing his jaw. That jock was going to pay...Roxas would be sure of that.

 

"I recommend you stick to liquid foods for the next few days until the bruising goes away." The man responded to Namine's faint nod before continuing. "The internal damage isn't too serious by the looks of it, so that's one good thing. It should heal on its own in time. Give it about a week, or a little more, and you'll pretty much be able to move without pain."

Namine nodded again at the words, thankful that the man was putting a brighter perspective on things. Okay; it wasn't too serious. That was definitly a good thing. This next week was going to feel like a long period of time, but she'd just have to rough it out, since she had no other choice.
