KH - Fast Food Madness! V2

Kairi bit her lip as she looked into Sora's eyes, able to swim in their ocean-blue depths for an eternity. But when she blinked softly, she tore her eyes away from his, letting her right hand travel down from his shoulder to his arm. Her eyes followed the movement, her head lifting off of his slightly as she ran her fingers down his forearm to his wrist. Kairi moved her hand to his hand, her fingers traveling underneath his to the silver ring around his finger.

 

Sora felt chills at the soft touch, his blue eyes following Kairi's gaze. He noticed her going for his ring, and his eyes fell on the silver band. It was still in perfect condition. He was very protective of the ring, because of everything that it stood for.

 

Kairi ran her fingertip over the silver band, thinking of how much it meant to Sora...and to her. It stood for more than the love they shared for each other; it was a promise. Kairi reached up to her neck with her other hand without thought, looking down when she didn't feel anything. Her neck was bare, no golden chain or golden outline of a heart at the end of that chain. Kairi bit her lip as she closed her eyes, the memories rushing back.

 

Sora bit his lip slightly at Kairi's expression, and he decided to remedy the situation. He gently slid his hand away from Kairi's and to his pocket, reaching in and pulling out the small heart-shaped object. Softly, he flipped over Kairi's hand and lightly pressed the object into her palm. He had been planning on getting the chain replaced and then giving her the charm back, but now seemed like a better time. A soft breath left his lips as he gently curled Kairi's fingers over the charm without thought.

Kairi opened her eyes, her gaze falling on her hand as Sora curled her fingers over a small object in her palm. She knew it was her necklace, and that feeling came from the heart. She remembered how it had fallen off when the men had quickly carried her toward their van. She had been struggling, kicking, hitting, and screaming as she tried to get out of the grasp one man held on her as she was over his shoulder. That was when the necklace had fallen off, breaking as it hit the paved path to Sora's front door.

"We can easily replace the broken chain," Sora stated softly, his hands still touching Kairi's. He lightly ran over the back of her hand with his finger, keeping his gaze down for a moment before looking back up into Kairi's violet-blue orbs.

 

Kairi nodded, raising her gaze to Sora's eyes. That was good to hear, because this necklace meant a lot to her, and not being able to wear it bothered her alone. But it was very unfortunate that it had to break because of them...and it upset her some.

 

"I was going to wait until I got a new chain," Sora started, his eyes staying connected with Kairi's. "But I figured that you might want it now instead." He had seen the look on her face when she first remembered that she didn't have her necklace, and he didn't want her to feel sad or upset about it.

 

Kairi nodded again slightly, a very faint and grateful smile appearing on her lips. "Thank you, Sora," she said softly, looking him in the eyes.

 

Sora nodded softly in response, a gentle smile spreading across his face.

 

Kairi's smile stayed on her face as she flitted her eyes down to her hand again, slowly uncurling her fingers. Her eyes immediately found the golden heart, which only made her smile grow a little more.

 

Sora moved one hand back to his side, keeping the other one lightly underneath Kairi's. He followed her gaze to the charm, the teen deciding to stay silent.

 

Even with one light on in the room, Kairi could still see the golden heart reflect off of the light, which made it that much more beautiful in her eyes. Of course, anything Sora gave her she would love; that was just the way it was.

 

Underneath her hand, Sora continued to rub the back of Kairi's hand with his finger, seeing the girl staring intently at the heart at the edge of his sight. He remembered the brokenness he had felt when he saw it lying on the walkway after she was taking away, as if all his hopes hung on that one symbol. Sora shut his eyes for a brief moment before opening them up, forcing those thoughts away. That was the past, and this was the present. The present was what really mattered.

 

Kairi exhaled softly, blinking once as her violet-blue eyes stayed on the heart and she felt comforted by Sora's small gesture. His ring wasn't the only important item to both of them; her necklace was as well, and it held that same promise of love and care.

 

Whatever happened in the past was unchangable. There was no point in focusing on what you can't change. If you didn't live life fully because of something in the past, than your life is wasted. That was one lesson he had learned a while ago, back in the toughest times in his life. He was still extremely grateful to his friends for helping him through that time, especially Kairi. He wouldn't be who he was today if it wasn't for her.

 

Kairi pressed her lips together as she gazed at Sora's gift to her, loving it with all she had. Her lips relaxed as she turned her head slightly, looking up at Sora, the silence in the room peaceful in a way.

 

Sora continued the gentle stroking, his eyes staying down at their hands for a moment. Like his ring, the heart represented the faith and love between them. That faith and love would never die, even if these simple gifts ever got damaged or got lost. He understood that now; life didn't base itself on the symbols meant to represent it, but the feelings they held in their hearts. After a moment, the brunette felt a soft gaze on him. Without even looking up, he felt the love behind them, and he knew that Kairi was watching him. His ocean-blue eyes flitted up and met her eyes again, immediatly connecting with each other.

 

Kairi's eyes met Sora's, and she gazed at them for a moment before a soft smile found its place on her lips, his gentle gesture letting her know how much he cared for her. But she could see that in his eyes in a heartbeat, and knew it was never a lie.

 

Sora felt a soft smile appear on his lips at the sight of Kairi's, seeing some happiness shine in her violet-blue orbs.
