KH - Fast Food Madness! V2

Sora exhaled softly, the throbbing in his arm starting to die down. It was only a surface wound, and he was thankful for that. No need to get stressed over it. The teen reached up into the cupboard with his right arm and pulled out one plate, then hesitated, wondering if Kairi was awake...and if she was, if she wanted a sandwhich herself. Sora shrugged slightly, then grabbed onto a second plate and set it down in front of him.

 

Kairi brought a hand to her head as she left the bathroom starting down the hall. She closed her eyes as she walked slowly, feeling tears start to well behind her eyes as she pictured Sora's face when she was being pushed out of the house, and then when she saw him just as the van was about to take off. Kairi bit her lip and rubbed at her eyes, feeling wetness as she tried to dismiss the tears.

 

Sora opened up the bread bag and started making his own sandwhich, not really paying attention to what he was doing. He couldn't help but remember the events that had happened yesterday, and he felt all the emotions hit him hard at one time. Anger. Frustration. Despair. Hopelessness. Determination. Sadness. All those emotions were like a whirlwind inside him, so jumbled up in made him confused. He exhaled softly and looked down, noticing that he had stacked way too much ham on his sandwhich because of his lack of focus.

 

Kairi failed miserably, though, a stray tear leaking from both of her eyes as she kept walking down the hall. She knew she couldn't get rid of the emotions that easily, no matter how hard she tried. It was reality...as unfortunate as it was.

 

Sora finished putting most of the ham back into the container, leaving some on his bread and putting some on the bread he had set out on the other plate. Even if Kairi didn't eat right away, he could put it in the fridge and save it for later. Kairi...he hadn't seen her since the previous night, when all of them were so out of whack. He silently wondered how she was doing, a sense of worry entering his heart. Everything had been so crazy and hectic, emotions powerful and overwhelming. If it was that bad for him, he couldn't imagine how Kairi felt after everything.

 

Kairi wiped at the tears, only to have them replaced by two others. The girl opened her eyes as she turned into the living room, trying to stop all of these emotions inside her. She noticed that the room was empty, neither Sora or Roxas being in there. Kairi silently wondered where they were, but she figured that Roxas left to go get cleaned up and that Sora was somewhere else in the house.

 

Sora finished making his sandwhiches, both of them sitting neatly in front of him. Without thought, he picked up his sandwhich and started to eat, the simple sandwhich tasting delicious in his mouth. He took a few bites and quickly swallowed them down, his hunger making him eat quicker than usual.

 

Kairi wiped away the tears, trying to get rid of any trace of them before she saw Sora. She had a feeling he would know that she was upset, but still...she didn't want to worry him right after he had spend so much time worrying about her while she was gone. Kairi crossed her arms, looking down at the floor as she walked toward the kitchen, figuring that was where the boy would be.

 

Sora looked down at his hands a little sadly when he saw that his sandwhich was gone. He almost felt as if he could eat more, but he wasn't going to worry about it now. He didn't know what would happen next, figuring that now that he was alone and concious the thoughts would haunt him again, as they had in his dreams. He exhaled softly, bringing up his right hand and brushing his hair back slightly, only to have a few spikes fall back into his eyes.

 

Kairi pressed her lips together as she entered the room, lifting her gaze from the floor to the open room. Her eyes flitted about the room until they found a familiar form next to the counter. Kairi stopped walking, her eyes staying on him and her arms staying crossed.

 

Sora leaned his back against the counter, one hand lightly against it. His eyes were down slightly, but he noticed out of the corner of his eye that something had changed...someone was with him, and they brought a heavy aura into the room with them. Or perhaps that was his thoughts. Oh well, it didn't matter now. He flitted his ocean-blue eyes over toward the doorway, seeing Kairi standing there. And she didn't look too happy... Sora pushed himself forward slightly, turning to face the girl.

 

Kairi met Sora's eyes for the first time in a while, and she suddenly felt like she might cry again. But the feeling wasn't from sadness. Kairi stayed put, her eyes gazing into his ocean-blue orbs ahead of her.

 

Sora's eyes locked onto Kairi's, seeing a new emotion flash in her eyes. He silently started toward her, his eyes staying connected with hers. "Hi," he said quietly, taking a few steps toward her and stopping about two feet in front of her.

 

"Hey," Kairi replied softly, but she instantly regretted even saying anything, having felt the slight shakiness in her voice from her emotions. She tightened her crossed arms a little more, keeping her eyes locked with Sora's.

 

"You doing okay?" Sora asked gently, his soft blue eyes staying locked with Kairi's. He heard a slight tremble in her voice, and she looked uncomfortable. If he wasn't mistaken, there was a small mark on her face, though he couldn't see it too clearly because of some of her red hair being close to her face.

 

Kairi hesitated slightly before shaking her head slowly, her hair flowing with the movement slightly. "Not really..." she answered quietly. She could be better, that was for sure.

 

Sora felt his eyes soften in concern, his gentle orbs staying locked on Kairi. "Do you want to talk about it?" He asked quietly, willing to accept whatever answer she gave him. If she didn't want to talk, then that was fine. If she did, he'd be there to listen. No matter what, he would be there for her.

 

Kairi bit her lip for a second, feeling the heaviness of the aura in the room. And she was sure it wasn't like this until she entered the room. She tucked some of her hair next to her face behind her ear, for some reason feeling uncomfortable. But she knew she shouldn't have been, because she was with Sora, and his presence seemed to calm her any time she was with him. But there was something making her this way, though she couldn't put her finger on it. Kairi kept her gaze on Sora's, not really knowing how to answer that question. True, she needed to get what was bothering her off her chest and out in the open, but...at the same time...she didn't know how she would explain herself.

 

Sora saw Kairi's movement and his eyes followed her hand, the hair moving back out of her face. It was then that he noticed the red mark on her face. He had no idea when that had happened, but just seeing it reminded him of the previous day. Whoever did that to her...he was surely dead. Sora was thankful for that; because nobody touched Kairi and tried to hurt her as long as he had a say in it. True...he had been forced to stand down before, and that was when the men had a chance to hurt Kairi. But...he tried his best to protect her, hadn't he? She was still with him, thank goodness. He had no idea what he would do without her.

"...Why don't we go get more comfortable in the living room?" Sora suggested softly, his eyes flitting away from the mark and back toward Kairi's eyes. She seemed nervous for some reason, though he wasn't sure why. But even if he didn't understand it, he would comfort her anyway, and hopefully take that emotion away.

 

Kairi brought her arm back to her chest, putting it back where it had been. She nodded. "Okay," she agreed softly. What was wrong with her? Why was she acting like...this? Whatever this was? She couldn't quite understand, but then she figured it was just the memories in the back of her mind trying to creep back up on her, as well as the emotions stirring within her.
