KH - Fast Food Madness! V2

Namine's lip quivered slightly, feeling Roxas' hand lightly brush against her face. She suddenly opened her eyes, the tears having disapeared. Her hands suddenly moved away from Roxas' and back to her side as she started pushing herself off the floor, sure that Roxas was confused by her sudden movement. "I think...I need to go for a walk," she told him, her words having a slight tremble to them.

 

Roxas looked up at her, complete and utter confusion written all over his features. He didn't understand... What was wrong? Of course, he felt it had something to do with yesterday's events, but what exactly was upsetting her so much?

 

"I need some fresh air," Namine said softly, hoping to take away some of Roxas' confusion. She knew that she was being secretive, but it wasn't purposely done. She just felt a little panicked, and she knew that she would break down if she didn't get out for a little while.

 

"O-okay." Roxas kept his eyes on her, confusion still written on his face a little. "Do you want me to come with you?" he asked as he looked up at Namine, a mixture of disarray and concern in his blue eyes.

 

Namine shook her head slightly, her eyes staying on Roxas. "No, I think I need some space," she said gently, her hands staying by her sides for a moment as she kept her gaze on the blond boy.

 

Roxas looked at her for a second before nodding. "Alright," he said softly, though he couldn't help but be concerned.

 

Namine turned and walked away, feeling sadness again. She knew that Roxas was concerned; she could hear it in his voice. But for his sake...she had to get herself away for a little while, to get her thoughts together and decide how she could make things right. Of course, that was the best thing to do. She walked back through the hall and into the guest bedroom, hurriedly putting on her sneakers and lacing them tightly. She had to get away from it all, or she was going to break.

 

When she left the room, Roxas leaned his elbows on his knees and laced his hands together, staring at the floor in thought. His eyebrows furrowed slightly over his blue eyes while his lips pressed together.

 

After arriving at the park, Namine had struggled a little to find a bench to sit on. But she finally did, and it was right by the river. It was a quieter spot, and she was glad for that, needing some time to think. She exhaled softly, a faint gust of wind blowing her blonde hair as she gazed at the ducks floating on the water. Getting some fresh air was definitly what she needed. She hadn't even been sitting for two minutes, and yet she was already starting to feel a little more relaxed again.

 

Once Namine had left, Roxas couldn't help but have this feeling of strong concern and worry. And after a minute or two of her being gone, he had the urge to get up and go for a walk himself, which is why he now found himself at the park. He walked among a few crowds, his hands in his pockets as he walked. He turned his head, only to spot a familiar blonde head over by the lake. Roxas stopped in his tracks, looking over at her. Curiosity striking, he made his way to a crowded area near the lake as well, sitting down at one far end of a bench that was also occupied by someone reading the paper. He was close enough to hear her if something was said, but far enough so she couldn't see him.

 

Namine inhaled softly, tucking the strand of hair behind her ear as she gazed at the lake in front of her. She started to think back to the panic she had felt when Roxas had touched her...though it hadn't come from his touch specifically. It was the memory that it had brought, Smith running his finger along her cheek in the same way. She swallowed hard at the memory, suddenly feeling choked up.

"Hey...you're Namine, right?" A voice came from the other end of the bench, making Namine jump a little bit.

Namine turned her eyes over, seeing a boy she recognized from her old high school, Jeff. He was tall, blond, and the heartthrob of almost every girl at school. Namine had never taken an interest in him though, since she always had Roxas. She had to admit though, his soft blue eyes were pretty gentle and sweet. "Yeah, that's me," she answered quietly, turning to face the quarterback of the football team. He didn't seem threatening at all, in fact, he seemed sweet.

Roxas glanced over at Namine before looking back ahead of him. He blinked suddenly. Wait a second... He did a double take, looking back over at the bench as he heard the conversation taking place. He looked at the guy for a second, thinking that he knew him somehow. He looked away and kept listening for more conversation as he tried to remember who that guy was.

 

"Right. You probably don't remember me, but we used to go to school together. I'm Jeff," he told her, scooting over slightly as he spoke to the blonde.

Namine nodded slightly, her eyes staying on the blond haired boy as she watched him move closer. "I remember you," she said softly, offering a very weak smile. She had gone to that school for a few years before her parents had taken her out, deciding that homeschooling was a better option for her.

Jeff returned her smile for a brief moment, and then became more somber. "But, anyway, I didn't come over just to introduce myself." He paused for a moment, bringing back a hand and running it lightly over the back of his head. "I was just wondering if you were okay. You look really upset," he said softly, his gentle blue eyes staying locked with Namine's.

Jeff...? Roxas thought, having heard the guy speak his name. Oh, Jeff! Roxas had met him once when he was with Namine, back when Namine and Roxas were just friends. They had been hanging out with Sora and Kairi at one of the basketball games at school, and Jeff had been there, having been the quarterback for the football team and football season having just ended. That had been the only time Roxas had actually seen him or talked to him, only a few words being exchanged. He remembered thinking how Namine had managed to choose him over Jeff, especially since every girl at the school had gone crazy over the guy. Roxas wondered how odd it was to actually see him again, especially after not speaking to him for a while. He escaped his thoughts and continued listening to their conversation.

Namine kept her eyes on Jeff for a moment, hesitating. He seemed to have good intensions, but Namine hardly knew him. So she didn't feel like opening up too much to him. "I've been better," she said simply, her light blue eyes connecting with Jeff's. She sucked in a breath, noticing how bright they were. She highly doubt that her eyes were too bright, since she was being torn apart by stress and crazy emotions.

"You want to talk about it?" Jeff asked kindly, moving even closer to Namine so he was right beside her.

Namine shook her head politly, her eyes shutting slightly as she silently gave him her response. She didn't feel like breaking apart in front of this stranger, no matter how sweet he appeared.

 

Roxas looked down at his lap at Namine's answer, knowing exactly what she meant by it. He glanced up to look at her for a moment, noticing Jeff right beside her now. He looked down at his lap again, trying to figure out this guy's intentions. From the way it sounded, he didn't seem like someone that posed as a threat, but Roxas hardly knew the guy, so he couldn't be so sure.

 

Jeff and Namine sat in silence for a few moments, but then Jeff made his move. He slowly raised an arm, wrapping it around Namine's shoulders and gently bringing her closer to him.

 

After not hearing any words being exchanged, Roxas lifted his head. He caught Jeff wrapping his arm around Namine and bringing her closer, which caused Roxas' eyes to widen slightly. What was this guy doing?

 

Namine flitted her eyes up to Jeff at the touch, her confused eyes catching his. "What are you doing?" She asked him, her voice a little tense.

Jeff looked down at the girl innocently, his hand laying on Namine's arm as he kept his arm around her shoulders. "What do you mean?" He asked, acting a little confused. At the same time though, Namine sensed something else through the tone of his voice. Not confusion, but certainty.

"I'm still with Roxas, you know." Namine told him, her eyes staying locked on him as she continued to elaborate. She never let anyone else wrap their arms around her, especially not some boy that she hardly knew.

Jeff shrugged slightly, holding Namine's gaze. "Frankly, baby, I dont' care if you're married to the guy. He has to be a pretty big jerk to let you out here by yourself when you're obviously upset. You deserve better."

 

Roxas tensed at the words, his eyebrows furrowing slightly as he diverted his gaze away from them, looking out ahead of him. Baby? Who did this guy think he was?
