KH - Fast Food Madness! V2

Namine gently returned Roxas' smile, her eyes staying locked with his as the silence began to turn more comfortable and relaxing.

 

"Hi," Roxas greeted softly, glad to see her returning his smile as he gazed into her light blue eyes.

 

"Hello," Namine returned the greeting quietly, a small smile staying on her lips.

 

"How're you doing?" Roxas asked, wondering how well she had slept and how she was feeling today.

 

"Okay," Namine answered softly, her gaze staying connected with Roxas'. "How about you?" It was pretty obvious to her that he had been in some discomfort earlier, and she wanted to know if he was alright.

 

Roxas shrugged slightly while he lied down, still holding her hand. "Same," he replied truthfully, remembering his nightmare.

 

"Mmm," Namine responded softly, momentarilly flitting her eyes back to their hands. She gently started to stroke his hand with her thumb again, hearing a bit of stress in his voice. Whatever it was, he would tell her if he wanted to. They were always open and honest, and she hoped that yesterday hadn't changed any of that.

 

Roxas sighed quietly, looking down at their hands when she started to rub his lightly. "I kept waking up last night," he stated quietly, keeping his eyes on her thumb stroking his hand. "I couldn't sleep that well." He would've said more, but he had to choose his words carefully so he wouldn't say something that would upset either of them.

 

Namine flitted her eyes up to Roxas' again at the sound of his voice, sadness finding a place in her light blue eyes. She stayed silent and continued to gently rub his hand, understanding why he hadn't slept too well. The nightmares from horrrible things like that could be awful, but she was fortunate enough not to have any.

 

Roxas took in a breath before speaking again. "Even when I was asleep, I knew you were here next to me while I had my nightmare," Roxas started. "I wish you were here during the others I had, too. You would've made them less intense, like you did the last one."

 

Namine felt saddened by the words, hearing Roxas' serious words. She knew what his nightmare was about, and she knew how intense it probably was. But the way he made it sound... "You...dreampt it more than once?" Namine asked hesitantly, her caring eyes staying locked with his.

 

Roxas gazed into her eyes and nodded a little. "Yeah..." he said softly. He didn't know why exactly, but he guessed that it was because Smith had had such a strong impact on him that those moments were still within him. And Roxas hoped they would leave soon...very soon; he didn't like to relive the worst moments of his life.

 

Namine kept her soft eyes on Roxas, silently stroking his hand. She was sad to hear that, knowing that Roxas was also strongly impacted by the events that had happened yesterday. She knew because she was feeling the same.

 

"You didn't have any, did you?" Roxas asked, his eyes widening slightly. He really didn't want to hear her say that she did; he didn't want her to suffer for his own mistakes.

 

Namine shook her head slightly, noticing the worry in his voice. "No, I didn't." She answered softly, stroking his hand lightly. She wasn't haunted by nightmares like he was, the memories struck her harder in the daytime.

 

Roxas relaxed a little, both at her words and her gesture. "That's good," he said truthfully, relieved at the fact.

 

Namine didn't respond, unable to think of any words to say. His care for her was obviously very strong, but Namine still didn't like the fact that he had suffered through his nightmares alone. She wanted to be there for him through everything, and no ammount of tension or awkwardness could ever change that.

 

Roxas flitted his eyes to their hands, inhaling softly through his nose. He appreciated her gentleness, especially after everything that happened the day before. He was still a little shaky sometimes when memories popped up, but he hoped she wasn't suffering.

 

Namine sucked in a breath, her eyes falling down to the hand that she had sitting in her lap. As if on cue, the memories started up again, the feelings of fear immediatly pounding on her heart again. She just wished that the hauntings would end...but she knew they wouldn't.

 

Roxas kept his eyes on their hands together, grasping it a little tighter when the memory of seeing Namine's face after everything he had done appeared again. Her expression had shown her fear of Roxas, but her eyes had expressed it the most. He had never been so disappointed in himself before in his life, and he hoped he never did that to her again. No, he knew he wouldn't. He couldn't possibly.
