Still, if he didn't go in, then he would have to constantly watch his back in fear. He wouldn't be able to live with himself if Kairi got hurt again...or his other friends. Sora inhaled deeply, flexing his hands by his sides as he summoned the Kingdom Key and Oathkeeper. He silently forced the door open again, slowly stepping into the room, feeling relieved that he hadn't been seen...yet.

Namine nodded slightly, her hand falling back to her side as her hair hid her face.

 

Roxas bit his lip slightly, his eyes staying on her for a moment. He still had a feeling that his fiery episode earlier might have still had an affect on her, and he wasn't all that surprised. Namine had never seen Roxas so mad before, and he had never been so angry before either. But Smith had just happened to trigger something so strong within him that it came out in full force. And, unfortunately, Roxas had been so focused on protecting Namine and getting revenge on Smith that he hadn't thought of how his actions appeared to someone...someone he held most dear to him.

Kairi looked to the door, staring at it. She hoped Sora was all right, wherever he was.

 

Namine exhaled softly, bringing up her left hand and wiping at her cheek. She was done crying, even though she still felt so jumbled up and confused inside.

Sora silently sneaked around the back of the gummi ship, surprised that he hadn't been spotted yet. Those five guards...they just stared right in front of them. Just one time, Sora noticed movement from one of them, but it was very brief. He sucked in one last breath before deciding to make his move. It was now or never. His two Keyblades came back at his sides as he dashed under the gummi ship, his weapons coming in contact with one of the guards and immediatly knocking him to the ground, taking him out before he knew what happened.

 

Roxas let out a breath through his nose softly, lowering his eyes to the ground. He'd fix this...somehow. He would make it up to her, and never scare her like that again. It was one of the last things he wanted for her.

But Kairi knew he'd be safe; Sora was strong, and he could handle things thrown at him, like her kidnapping and the thugs.

 

Namine slowly let her eyes shut as she moved her left hand back, lightly pulling her blonde hair back and tucking it behind her ear.

Sora quickly pivoted and knocked down a second thug, right after the man had recognized that there was a threat. The two Keyblades slashed straight through the man, the henchman falling down next to his friend. Sora flitted his piercing blue eyes to behind him and saw that the three remaining thugs had all taken up their arms, and all of their guns were pointed at him. A soft gasp left Sora's lips as he saw all the bullets coming toward him, and he knew he couldn't deflect all of them.

 

"Are you still...bothered by it?" Roxas asked hesitantly, lifting his eyes to her before looking back down again. Though he thought he knew the answer, and was pretty sure he was right, he still had to ask.

 

Namine felt saddened by the quesion, not wanting to hurt Roxas' feelings with her answer. She faintly nodded, her eyes opening partway as she gazed at the floor. "A little," she answered quietly, her voice almost a whisper.

"Reflect!" Sora cried, holding up his Keyblades as a magical barrier protected him. The shield gave him a chance to prepare for his next attack and he used the time well, pulling back his Keyables as he prepared to charge forward. The second the shield disappeared, he did just that, slashing right through the three surprised henchmen.

 

Roxas sighed sadly. "I thought so," he said softly, closing his eyes. Unfortunately, he had been right, and he didn't exactly know how to get rid of that feeling she had.

 

Namine flitted her eyes to Roxas when she heard his sad sigh, her eyes finding that his were closed. She felt a pang of sadness in her heart as she gazed at him softly, two words softly escaping her lips. "I'm sorry," she said sadly, full of regret. She didn't want him to feel guilty for her sadness; she loved him too much to ever want him to be sad because of her.

Sora turned around, a drop of sweat falling off his face as he faced the five men. They all were very still on the ground, and he knew that the job was done. He exhaled softly, making his Keyblade's disapear as he ran a hand through his hair. He had done enough fighting for one day, and now he just wanted to go hom. But not until he finished everything.

 

Roxas shook his head slightly at her apology, keeping his eyes closed as he spoke. "I think I'm the one that should be apologizing." He bit his lip for a second and turned his gaze to his side, his eyes finding Smith's body. "I shouldn't have let him get to me so badly...But what he was doing..." Roxas squeezed his eyes shut at the memory, Smith having a hold of Namine and then speaking those disgusting words to her...

 

Namine turned her head away slightly, not even wanting to look at the man who had verbally abused her in that way. She felt her lip quiver slightly at the memory, her emotions coming back up to the surface. Her mouth opened partway as if she were going to say something, but she couldn't find her voice...or any words to say with that voice.

 

"...What he was saying to you...and doing to you, causing you pain," Roxas continued, keeping his eyes closed tightly as the memory haunted his mind; every gesture that Smith had made, every word that had left his lips, every emotion that had been expressed on Namine's face and in her eyes...it was all so clear to Roxas again, and he opened his eyes to stare at the floor. "...I couldn't handle it," he confessed, shaking his head slowly. "And my emotions got the best of me, causing me to act irrationally..."

 

"....What really scares me...." Namine started to speak softly, her eyes staying shut as she kept her head down, "...is how angry you got because you love me, and you care for me. I guess...I never expected something so...destructive...to come out of our love," Namine said the words very slowly, carefully piecing them together so they matched her thoughts.

 

Roxas lifted his head to look at her while she spoke, and then lowered his head again when she finished, the last sentence hitting him pretty hard. What she had said was true..."destructive" describing his actions perfectly at that period of time.

 

Namine bit her lip lightly, thinking back to everything that had happened between her, Roxas, and Smith. She shakily took in a breath, one tear falling from her eye and landing on the concrete floor.

 

Roxas took in a breath. "I never meant to do that to you, Namine," he said softly. "I was only trying to protect you...but I guess...in a way...I didn't really do that." He lifted a hand to his eyes, rubbing away the wet spots on the corners of his eyes that threated to spill out into tears. His hand fell back to his side as he took in another breath.

 

Namine shook her head, opening her eyes as she turned to face Roxas again. "No," she said softly, firmness in her quiet voice. "No, you did protect me. You saved me." Namine emphasized the words, trying to get her point across.

 

Roxas lifted his head and opened his eyes to look at her, the trace of tears in his eyes a little as he fought to hold them back.

 

Namine brought her hands up and laid them on either side of Roxas' face, holding his gaze as she held back her own tears. "You saved me." She repeated, staring into his eyes to make sure he understood her.

 

Roxas locked his eyes with hers, finding the same sadness in them that was in his. Her words entered him, reaching his heart. He did save her, from somebody that could've been a lot more evil if he got the chance to be.
