KH - Fast Food Madness! V2

"We're coming, Kairi." Sora told her without thought, knowing that he had to keep his focus on her. "Don't give up on me here. I'm not letting anything happen to you." The words sounded firm, but not in a harsh way. They were meant to give her hope, and he also wanted to hear her voice again in response. He needed something to keep him going strong.

 

Kairi took in a soft breath at his voice, his words comforting her a little in the situation. "I know, Sora. I believe in you," her heart replied with sincerity. She would never give up on him; she had confidence in him.

 

Sora nodded slightly at the silent voice, those simple words helping him to keep pressing on. He kept his eyes forward as he ran, pushing hard. He noticed that they were coming close to the edge of town, and he wasn't too surprised. That probably meant they were close to the hideout. At least, he hoped that was the case.

 

Kairi felt the car turn and she paid close attention as to where she was. But they turned to the left, and Carter's head had been in the way so she couldn't see the sign. She felt herself let out a soft sigh through her nose, but she kept her eyes on the buildings, hoping she could spot something.

 

Sora exhaled through his mouth as he continued running straight, not changing his direction.

 

Kairi could only see the same thing as they drove down the road, the sight unchanging. "Sora," she started with a bit of uncertainty. With her lack of view, she couldn't tell him exactly where she was, which was a disadvantage to him.

 

"Yeah, Kai? What's up?" Sora's heart pounded as he asked the question, slowing his pace slightly as he waited to hear more.

 

"I'm...not quite sure of where we are now. All I see are what look like abandoned apartment buildings," Kairi replied, her eyes seeing dark colored brick buildings through the window.

 

Sora groaned softly in frustration, putting a hand to his head. He wasn't mad with Kairi, just upset with the circumstances. He had started getting a little hopeful, but if she didn't even know where she was, then how was he supposed to know?

Smith turned his covered eyes to Carter and suddenly spoke, not bothering to lower his voice despite the fact that Kairi was behind him. It didn't matter now whether she was listening or not, since she was completely helpless tied in the back of their van. "Are we almost to the werehouse?" He asked Carter, looking over at the driver. "I don't remember it ever taking this long before to get to one stinkin werehouse."

 

Kairi perked up as she listened closely to the conversation.

"We'll be there in a minute or two, Smith. Don't be so impatient," Carter replied, glancing over at his secondhand man. "We had to find the best place we could so that no one would discover us, and the warehouse on the outskirts of town was the best place--"

Kairi quit paying attention there, her heart already speaking to Sora. "A warehouse, they're taking me to a warehouse outside of the city..." She paused, listening intently to the rest of the conversation.

"Besides, nobody would check the abandoned warehouse out by the Bay. That place is deserted," Carter finished as he turned the white van again.

"...It's by the Bay, Sora. Please hurry!" Kairi finished, but she already knew that Sora was pushing himself hard and that he was going as fast as he could to reach her.

 

Sora let out a sigh in relief when Kairi finally gave him some solid information. The abandoned warehouse at the Bay...he had seen it a few times before, but he had never gotten close to it. Still, he knew enough to know that they were five to ten minutes away at this pace. "We gotta pick it up a little!" Sora called over his shoulder, not waiting for a response. He ran faster now, knowing exactly where he was going. He continued straight ahead, avoiding all the people that stared at him and his friends.

Smith grinned awkwardly, bringing up a hand and rubbing the back of his head. "You know me; I can never be patient while we still have our catch of the day." He winked behind his glasses, though he was sure nobody could see it.

 

Carter laughed a little, and then started slowing the vehicle as he came close to the warehouse.

Kairi felt her eyes fall to the floor of the van, letting out a breath through her nose. She didn't know where Sora had been when she was talking to him, but she hoped he was close. The talk of these guys being impatient meant that they would try to get done as fast as they could, and that most likely meant shipping her off to another world like she was luggage. Kairi's shoulders sagged as her eyes closed halfway, pain coming to her wrists and ankles from the tight rope.

The people on the streets were a blur as Roxas ran behind Namine and Sora, hearing him out and picking up the pace.

 

Sora kept running straight, knowing that the bay was in that direction. This road would bring them half a block away from the abandoned warehouse, and he was relieved that he had decided to stay on 6th Avenue.

Namine exhaled heavily through her mouth, unable to keep up with Sora's quick pace any longer. She felt herself lagging slightly, knowing that Roxas was still right behind her.

Smith shifted his gaze to the warehouse, glad they had finally arrived. This world gave him the creeps, and he wanted to complete the first mission as quickly as possible.

 

Carter stopped the vehicle and took the keys out of the ignition. "Load up the luggage," he called to his men, ordering them to move Kairi out of the van.

Kairi looked up, her eyes opening fully.

Roxas saw Namine slow slightly, but he kept his pace. "Come on, Namine. Not that much farther," he encouraged in between breaths from behind her.

 

Smith turned around and gave Kairi an evil grin, a few words leaving his lips. "Come on, girlly, time to get out." He chuckled slightly at his own joke before turning back around, putting his hand on the door handle and opening it.

"We're almost there," Sora told his friends, not turning around at all as he kept running. He heard Roxas talking to Namine, and he could guess what was going on. "Just a bit further."

Namine nodded slightly at the boys' encouragement and picked up her pace a little, trying her best to keep up with Sora again.

 

Kairi turned her head sharply and caught Smith's glare, though it was from behind his glasses. Her eyes widened slightly at his evil grin and then turned her head again as two of the men dragged her by her feet toward the door of the van. She let out a cry, but it was smothered by the tape over her mouth. Her heart leaped inside her chest from fear and tension as she squirmed, though it was useless. One of the men threw her over their shoulder, but she couldn't kick and scream this time.

Carter climbed out of the van and started toward the warehouse on foot, knowing his men were following with the Princess behind.

 

Smith stepped out of the van and shut the door behind him, slamming it and walking toward the warehouse. He hoped that the men who had stayed behind had prepared the ship, or he would be very angry. They couldn't afford mistakes...well, perhaps in this case they could, since they had the Princess and nobody knew where they were. Still, he didn't like taking unnecessary risks.

Sora continued to run as hard as he could, getting much closer to the warehouse now. Just a little bit futher... he told himself, keeping up his stride.

 

Carter entered the warehouse, walking through the empty and deserted place until he turned around, his voice echoing as he ordered his men. "Take the Princess to her "dungeon" and secure her," he said evilly, his voice a bit humorous on his joke with the dungeon.

Kairi saw the outside world disappear from her site as she saw slick, concrete flooring replace the pavement, hearing Carter's orders. They were going to lock her up? She let out a muffled noise in protest, but she had gone ignored.

 

Smith grinned at the joke and looked over at Carter, glad that his boss didn't seem to share his concern. Of course...everything was going to go fine.

Sora kept up his pace, the bay coming into view. He was glad for that, since that meant they were closer to Kairi. He assumed that Kairi was already at the warehouse, and he didn't think to ask her. His mind was a little off because of the crazy emotions and exhaustion from running. He kept going, pusing those thoughts behind him.

 

Kairi squirmed a little, but gave up when she knew it didn't do any good. She let her body fall limp, her eyes staring at the floor in sadness. Why did it have to come to this?
