KH - Fast Food Madness! V2

Kairi felt overwhelming sadness and worry settle in as she gazed at Sora. Her feet automatically carried her to him and she knelt down next to him.

 

Sora exhaled softly and pulled his gaze away from Kairi for just one brief moment before putting them back on her. He saw the concern and worry shining brightly in her eyes, and he wasn't surprised. He supposed that she did have a reason to worry, since he was obviously sick. He bit his lip lightly and continued to gaze at her, his face burning.

 

Kairi sat back on her legs as she looked over him, her worry-filled eyes running over his face. One hand laid in her lap as she brought the other to his forehead, gently sweeping a few spikes out of his eyes.

 

A soft sigh escaped Sora's lips as he shut his eyes at the gentle touch, releaved to have Kairi nearby. As much as he hated her seeing him in such a lowly state, he was more glad that he wasn't alone. Her fingers felt a little cool against his hot forehead.

 

After letting her fingers travel over his forehead, Kairi let her hand rest against it. Sora's head felt hot, and she knew he had a fever. She bit her lip as she looked at him, sad that he was in this state. She let her hand leave his forehead as she ran her fingers through his spikes slowly, trying to comfort him any way she could.

 

Sora faintly opened his eyes when he felt Kairi's hand staying against his forehead, and he knew what she was thinking. He let his eyes fall on her again as she felt her going through his hair. "Thank you," he whispered quietly, greatly appreciating the soft, caring gesture.

 

Kairi met his eyes and nodded, letting her fingers run through his spikes again. "Of course," she whispered back.

 

Sora smiled faintly at the loving gesture, his eyes closing again as he let Kairi care for him. He didn't know what had changed...but suddenly, he didn't mind that he wasn't in the leading position. Maybe, just maybe, he recognized that a person couldn't be strong all the time, and love wasn't all about giving. In order to truely love someone, you had to let them give back to you. Of course he had known that before, but he was just now placing it into this kind of situation, realizing that giving and recieving was a part of every aspect in a relationship.

 

Kairi let her hands finish their way through his hair slowly, then pulling them back to go through the brown spikes again. The gesture seemed to comfort him, and she would only continue to comfort him while he went through this.

 

Of course...how could he have not seen it before? This care and comfort that Kairi provided for him was a part how she loved him. And how could he tell her to stop loving him? He desperatly needed her love! His life would be nothing without her, and he recognized that. Love involved both giving and recieving, and for once, he let himself be in the position to recieve her care.

 

Kairi kept her eyes on Sora, her eyes occasionally following her hand over his spikes before going back to his face again. She got this feeling inside that he wasn't trying to put on a brave face anymore, and letting himself be the main focus for once. Kairi found that somewhat relieving, considering Sora was the one who needed to be cared for more than anyone else in the house. And Kairi would do anything to help him out, which was why she stayed here, next to him.

 

Sure, Sora didn't want Kairi to worry about him. Worry was never a fun emotion to have inside you. But in this case, he felt like he wouldn't have been able to get rid of her worry just like that. Sometimes, the best thing you could do for yourself and those that were around you was to let yourself fall, trusting that your friends will be there to catch you. And he knew that Kairi was always going to be there for him, and so were Roxas and Namine. He had great friends, and maybe he needed to let them get closer to him, even if he were vulnerable.

 

Kairi let her hands travel through Sora's hair once more before letting her hand come to her side as she repositioned herself. She sat indian style on the tile floor and faced him, her eyes looking down at his hands. She reached forward with her left hand and took his hand in hers before flitting her eyes up his face again.

 

Sora slowly opened his eyes and let them stay toward the floor as he gazed at his hand in Kairi's, the gentle gesture relaxing him a bit more. He felt like a weight had been lifted, at least with his emotions. He still felt physically sick, but he supposed that nothing could have really been done to remove that. He exhaled softly and flitted his eyes upward, his piercing blue orbs finding Kairi's.

 

Kairi let her lips form a faint, reassuring smile as she gazed into his eyes. She wanted Sora to know she was there for him, though she was sure he already knew in his heart that it was true.

 

Sora softly returned Kairi's smile, his blue eyes shining for a brief moment as he gazed into Kairi's eyes. Maybe she hadn't meant for him to get such a huge revolation at that moment, but her care had shown him love in a way that he had never thought about before. He was so glad that she was here, and he was sure that she could see that in his eyes.

 

Kairi gave his hand a gentle squeeze as she kept her eyes locked with his. The silence in the room wasn't uncomfortable or awkward, but easing. And by the look in Sora's eyes, she had a feeling that he was comforted as well.

 

Sora flitted his eyes to their hands when he felt her hand gently squeeze his, a faint smile staying on his lips. He looked back at Kairi again after a brief moment, and then noticed a funny feeling in his throat. It was uncomfortable, and he turned his head away as he coughed softly several times, his eyes closing as he tried to get rid of the tickle.

 

Kairi flitted her eyes down to their hands when he coughed, using her right hand to gently run over his arm to comfort him.

 

Sora softly took control of his coughing and inhaled, his eyes staying closed as he felt Kairi's gentle stroking. He would have smiled if he hadn't felt so terrible.
