KH - Fast Food Madness! V2

Roxas bit his lip, faintly hearing the words as he stared down at his hands. "Why's that?" he asked quietly, keeping his eyes on his hands.

 

"...I can't let Kairi worry about me anymore," Sora said softly, again holding back part of the truth. He wasn't only concerned about Kairi, but about Roxas and Namine too. He never wanted them to worry about him again; he knew how bad worry could get, and he didn't want them to experience it because of him.

 

Roxas turned his head to Sora then, keeping the same position. "She only worries because she cares," Roxas stated, but he already knew Sora understood that. But that's all he could think to say.

 

Sora nodded, his eyes staying on the wall in front of him. "I know," he said softly in acknowledgement.

The blond turned his head back to stare at his hands. "But I can understand what you mean...in a way," Roxas added softly.

OOC: Okay, that's fine.

 

Sora looked over at Roxas curiously, but stayed silent.

 

"...I wouldn't want Namine worrying so much either. Her life's been rough enough, and I don't want any added drama to put pressure on her. Sometimes...she seems so fragile. I would never want so much pressure to cause her to break..." Roxas' voice was soft as he spoke, expressing his thoughts.

 

Sora kept his eyes on Roxas, feeling saddened by his words. That's what he had unwilling done on Kairi, and that killed him inside. He never wanted to cause her pain. Never again.

 

Roxas brought his hands to his forehead, keeping his elbows on his knees. He sighed softly. "And unfortunately, what I did yesterday didn't help much."

 

Sora arched a brow, a little thrown off by the sudden twist in the conversation. He was still talking about Namine...right? What would he have done to make Namine upset? Was he referring to his own arm, or accidentally tackling Sora on the ice? Too many questions went unanswered in the brunette's head, so he just looked at Roxas and waited for him to say more.

 

Roxas hesitated a moment before saying anything. "Namine didn't seem too happy when she noticed my arm was bruised up, like she blamed herself for something..." Roxas let his hands leave his head, turning his head to look at Sora. "If I hadn't tackled you, nobody would be in the situations they're in now."

 

"I'm sure Namine was just worried," Sora responded softly, letting silence fill the room for a moment before continuing, thinking of what to say next. Now it really sounded like Roxas was blaming himself...and in a way, Sora could see why. But he could also see what Roxas couldn't: it was just an accident, and accidents happened. Life went on, even after stuff like that happened. "...We were just playing, and you didn't mean for any of this to happen. You shouldn't blame yourself," Sora's soft eyes gazed at the blond as he spoke reassuringly.

 

Roxas turned his head to look down at his hands. "That's what Namine said," he replied softly. Roxas knew that both of them were right, but in a way he still blamed himself.

 

"Let it go, then." Sora said quietly, keeping his gaze on Roxas despite the fact the blond had turned away. "Holding onto the kind of stuff isn't good for anyone."

 

Roxas nodded. "I'm still sorry, though," he apologized, turning his head to meet the brunet's gaze.

 

Sora shook his head slightly and face forward. "You don't have anything to be sorry for," he said quietly.

 

"I have to disagree," Roxas admitted, keeping his eyes on his friend.

 

"It was a freak accident," Sora stated, blinking once as he gazed at the wall in front of him.

 

"The accident was the ice breaking, but the tackle was planned, Sora." Roxas took in a breath, keeping his eyes on his friend. "So, in a way, I'm responsible." It's not like he planned to tackle Sora on the ice, no. But he did tackle him, and if he had paid close attention to where they were, the ice incident wouldn't have happened.

 

Sora stared at the wall in front of him, unable to think of anything to say. He knew that if he was in Roxas' position, he would probably be thinking through things the same way. But he wasn't in that position; he had problems of his own to deal with. "I don't see it that way," Sora finally said, not shifting his gaze from the wall.
