KH - Fast Food Madness! V2

Roxas grunted as he landed next to Namine's feet in the snow, hitting the ground. He heard a loud noise and opened his eyes from their closed state, seeing his best friend fall into the water of the lake. "No!" he screamed.

"SORA!" Kairi cried in terror, fear overtaking her as he sank into the lake.

 

"No!" Namine cried out, her eyes wide in terror when she saw her friend fall beneath the broken ice.

Raw, biting, bitter coldness were the first senses that made Sora realize where he was. He kept his eyes shut as he felt himself fall deeper into the frigid cold water, afraid they would freeze in his sockets if he opened them. Panicking, he brought his arms up above him, desperately trying to find the surface.

 

Roxas pushed himself up with both hands, ignoring the pain in his arm. Stepping out onto the ice and sliding to a stop on his knees next to the hole, he looked in the dark, cold water for Sora.

Kairi felt her heart racing inside her chest. Not today! Just as they were getting used to things being normal again, and no harm being done...

 

Sora grappled for something--anything that could help him find the surface. He was already aware that he didn't have enough air, and the frigid water was already having an impact on him. He felt his body become more heavy, but he kept swimming upward anyway, knowing that he couldn't give up. He had people to live for; things to do! He couldn't die yet...

Namine bit her lip and watched, feeling helpless.

 

Roxas quickly turned his attention to the snow covered lake, wiping snow away with panic. Sora wasn't emerging from the water, meaning he was somewhere under the ice.

Kairi let out a whine in fear and didn't think twice as she stepped out onto the lake. She got down on her knees next to the hole, and looked into it for a second before following Roxas' lead, brushing away snow.

 

Sora pushed upward, and flinched slightly when his head hit something. He dared to peek open an eye and looked up slightly, almost letting out a cry in relief when he saw he had found the surface. He pushed up on it with one hand, but the ice wouldn't budge! He shut his eyes tightly and kicked with his feet, putting both hands on the ice above him as he pushed with all his might, hearing the ice cracking above him.

Namine came over by Roxas and Kairi, but she hadn't sat down before she notice some of the ice cracking about five feet behind Roxas. "Look!" She cried, pointing in that direction.

Sora pushed as hard as he could, relieved to feel the ice give way above him as he pushed the piece off the surface of the water, giving him a spot to get back up.

 

Roxas turned his head at the cry, his eyes widening when the ice broke. He quickly turned around started toward the spot.

Kairi turned her head, being on the opposite side of Roxas. Her eyes fell on a part of the lake breaking, and her eyes widened.

 

Namine watched, her eyes wide with both fear and relief when she saw the boy start to come out of the water.

Sora lifted his head out of the water and gasped for air, his eyes opening widely as he brought his arms up and put both his elbows against the ice to keep himself up. He coughed up some water as he greedily took in some more air.

 

Roxas reached his friend and leaned forward on his knees, his hands grabbing the back of Sora's drenched coat and pulling him up and out of the water.

"Sora!" Kairi cried, her cry coming out as a worried whine and a scream of relief. She pushed herself up and went around the hole where he had fallen in and toward his and Roxas' position.

 

Sora coughed softly and shut his eyes as he tried to pull himself further out of the water, relieved to have Roxas' help. He breathed heavily as he lay on his stomach on the ice, his head resting on the surface of the frozen lake.

Namine brought a hand to her mouth and hurried over to the boys' position, watching with wide eyes.

 

Roxas grunted as he pulled Sora out of the ice, his form completely out of the freezing cold water. He looked up as the girls approached and his eyes caught Kairi kneeling down on the other side of Sora.

Kairi put her hands on the ice as she sat on her knees next to him, worry and fear in her eyes. She looked at his face, and he seemed to be shaking from the cold.

Roxas flitted his eyes to Namine who was standing next to them, worry and terror in her eyes as well. His orbs found Sora's form again. They needed to get him someplace warm.

OOC: Have you seen The Day After Tomorrow?

 

Sora furrowed his brows at the cold, his body trembling because of the freezing cold water that he had come in contact with.

Namine knelt down with her friends on the ice, concerned. What if Sora suffered from hypothermia...?

OOC: I have, but not for a little while.

 

OOC: Okay, 'cause I was thinking of that scene where the guy's in the water talking to his dad, and then that girl is with him and all that. I got some new knowledge from that and I was thinking of using it; I kinda had an idea, but I don't know...

Kairi grew even more worried at his condition, putting a hand on his soaking wet and cold shoulder. "We have to get him dry clothes," she said in a panicked tone. They needed to warm him up. Fast.

 

OOC: I remember that scene...what exactly is your idea?

Sora put his hands down on the ice beside him, trembling as he forced himself to his knees. He opened his eyes halfway and looked down at the ice for a moment, dazed. It almost felt like he was shutting down...was it because of the cold? He wasn't thinking clearly at that moment, so the question went unanswered.

 

OOC: Well, it's actually quite a small idea, involving the part where the girl uses her body heat to warm him up, because if the blood flows to his arms too fast, his heart could fail. I don't know, just something that popped into my mind the moment the lake was mentioned. xD

Kairi kept her hand on his shoulder, looking at the side of his face. He didn't look so good, and that definitely wasn't good. Her gaze fell to the ice beneath them, knowledge popping into her brain. "...Hypothermia," she said softly, almost a whisper.

"What?" Roxas asked, not hearing her that well. His voice was a little shaky and a little panicked, knowing they had to get Sora somewhere warmer as soon as possible.

 

OOC: I had an idea similar to that. xD

Sora looked over at the sound of a whispered word, his blue eyes landing on Kairi.

Namine bit her lip and looked over at Kairi, softly nodding at her one word. If they didn't get help soon, things could end very badly.

 

OOC: Really? xD What was it?

Kairi's eyes found Sora's, knowledge of the condition from Health class coming into her mind. "Hypothermia..." she said a little louder than before.

Roxas blinked and then started standing up. "We need to get help," he said in a serious tone. "Now."

 

OOC: Pretty much just the same thing...Sora wouldn't be able to make it home, so a kind civilian comes up with a big blanket or something. Then the whole "body heat" exchange occurs. It's kind of random...xD

Sora blinked once, his eyes staying locked with Kairi's. Her spoken word didn't quite register in his mind. What? Hypothermia...?

Namine nodded in agreement, gazing down at the brunette with worry in her eyes.

 

OOC: Well, I'm not exactly sure how Sora's going to be able to get dry clothes when they're all at the park. xDD So, we could use your idea and do the body heat exchange if you like.

Kairi's eyes stayed locked with his piercing blue, that one word hanging in the air from her lips.

Roxas looked down at Sora. "Can you stand?" he asked, his eyes focused on his friend. They needed to move him off the ice before all of their weight added pressure, causing it to break again.

 

OOC: Yeah, I thought about that...=/ Maybe we could get him home, and then go through with that idea, since just getting warm clothes wouldn't completely warm him. =)

Sora turned his head at the sound of the voice, the words slowly registering in his mind. He silently nodded in response, his bright blue eyes gazing up at Roxas.
