KH - Fast Food Madness! V2

Roxas skidded as he saw Sora turn, one foot going out in front of the other as he turned his body toward where Sora was heading. He stepped forward and started picking up his pace, not giving up that easily.

Kairi blinked in surprise, not expecting Sora's move as her eyes followed the boys.

 

Sora ran forward, not turning his gaze as he ran as quickly as he could.

"Oh boy," Namine's voice muffled slightly as she raised a hand to her mouth and spoke through her hand, seeing a head on collision coming up in the near future.

 

Roxas moved his feet and legs as fast as he could, coming up on Sora's form.

Kairi turned her eyes to Namine at her words and then focused back on the boys. She saw Roxas heading straight for Sora and she narrowed her eyes slightly, expecting a collision to come.

 

Sora continued running, but turned his head slightly when he saw something coming toward him. His eyes widened when he saw the blond approaching his side, preparing to go in for the kill. And then...to his left, was the frozen lake.

 

Kairi's eyes suddenly widened, her orbs having noticed the boys' positions. "Oh no," she said in a worried tone, her arms uncrossing. If Roxas tackled Sora, they'd go toward the lake. And she didn't know how frozen over that water was.

Roxas took a few more steps toward Sora's form, about to leap.

 

Namine bit down hard on her lip as she felt her eyes widen, seeing Roxas about to tackle Sora. She saw that the lake looked pretty covered, but still...

Sora put up his arms to protect himself, knowing he wouldn't be able to avoid the tackle.

 

Roxas let out a cry as he jumped forward, tackling Sora from the side. He felt their forms hit the snow and then roll, the ground suddenly starting to become harder. His form slid with Sora's quite a few feet over the slick ground.

Kairi let out a gasp, her eyes widening.

 

"Come on!" Namine cried, her hand moving back to her side as she ran over toward the lake.

Sora grunted softly at the tackle, and then shut his eyes when he felt his head bang off the hard ice.

 

Roxas let out a grunt from when his elbow had hit the ice, pain shooting through his arm. He rolled over a little so he was lying on his back next to Sora, squeezing his eyes shut as the pain continued. He put a hand underneath his elbow to support it while he lied on the ice.

Kairi kept her eyes on the boys as she ran with Namine toward the lake. If that ice were to break...

 

"Ah," Sora hissed, putting a hand down on the ice, slowly forcing himself into a sitting position. He brought up a free hand and put it on the back of his head, then pulling it back away when he felt pain shoot through his head.

Namine ran to the side of the lake and stopped at the shoreline, looking down at the boys with wide eyes.

 

Roxas lifted his elbow so he could look at it, raising his head off the ground a little so he could see it better. He hoped it was just a bruise. He let his head rest back on the hard ice, lowering his elbow as he squeezed his eyes shut, the pain subsiding a little, but throbbing.

Kairi stopped next to Namine, looking at the boys that were a few feet out on the ice with worried eyes.

 

Sora grunted softly, lightly running his hand over the back of his head despite the intense pain. "You okay?" he asked, looking over at Roxas.

Namine watched the boys without blinking, worried about their safety and possible injuries.

 

Roxas opened his eyes and flitted them to Sora. "Yeah, I think so..." he said, flitting his blue eyes to his arm again. "You?"

Kairi watched them, her lips parted slightly as her widened and worried eyes flitted back and forth between them.

 

"I think so," Sora responded, his hand staying on the back of his head. He looked down at the ice uncomfortably. "Let's get off the ice," he encouraged softly, putting his free hand down on the ice and starting to push himself up.

Namine exhaled, relieved to see that the guys didn't look too bad.

 

Roxas nodded slightly and leaned up into a sitting position. He put a hand against the ice, slowly pushing himself up.

Kairi bit her lip. The boys weren't that far from her and Namine's position, but they were far enough that if the ice started breaking, it could turn ugly. She bit down on her lip a little harder at the thought, not wanting that to happen.

 

Sora stood upright and turned around toward Roxas, offering his friend a hand.

 

Roxas gladly took his hand and slowly started rising to his feet. "Thanks," he said.

 

"Sure," Sora responded, looking down at his friend with a little concern. He knew that nobody would want to hear it, so he tried to lighten the mood. "So...does this mean I win?" Sora asked, grinning slightly at the blond.

 

Roxas shook his head in amusement and smiled slightly. "Let's...just call it even," he suggested. He had tackled Sora after all, but it hadn't ended up too well, since they were standing on ice.

 

Sora nodded once, chuckling softly. "Okay," he agreed, relieved that the mood had lightened. His ears suddenly perked up at the sound of cracking, and he looked down, his eyes wide when he noticed the ice beneath him wasn't safe anymore. Since he still held onto Roxas' hand, he grabbed onto it more tightly and used all his strength to throw his friend to safety, off to the side of the lake. Just a few milliseconds after he had done that, he was aware that the ice beneath him had collapsed, sending him sinking into the freezing lake.
