KH: Axel the Matchmaker

"A-Axel?" Namine stammered, as she felt her cheeks grow warm. Why was he calling her? And she was sounding like such a dork... "Yes, it's me...is...is there something you want?"

 

Axel blinked confused at the sudden change in tone, but shrugged it away. He had business to attend to, and it was his best friend's love life. "Actually, I did. I was wondering if you can pass by my house later? I want to speak to you. Or sooner if you can."

 

"Your...your house?" Namine said, sounding nervous. "Um...s-sure..."

 

"Great!" Axel exclaimed, stretching his arms and back at the first part of what he had to do was done. Sighing peacefully, he smiled into the speaker. "Then I'll await your arrival. Is just a few questions I got to ask."

 

"I'll be there as soon as I can," Namine said. I feel so nervous...

 

"Alright then, I'll be waiting for you," Axel bid as he gave a yawn, turning away from the phone politely for Naminé can't hear it. Rubbing his eyes, he whispered, "See you later."

 

"Y-yes," Namine stammered, and then quickly hung up. I sounded so...like a little girl! she thought, ashamed. Shaking her head, she quickly walked over to her room so she could brush her hair and perhaps put on a little bit of perfume.
Minutes later, she was walking over to Axel's apartment, standing outside his door. If she had a heart, she knew it would be hammering wildly. She then raised her hand, which was trembling nervously, and knocked.

 

Axel had just finished from his morning neccessties, taking a shower, brushing his teeth, dressed, and was now looking at mirror, his green eyes checking his own self out. His wild red hair was never tamed, not that he didn't like it; it was spiky, but in reality was really soft and smooth, and he was greatly fond of the color.

Hearing a knock downstairs, and Angel leaving a couple of minutes ago after telling him Demyx was still downstairs, while he told her that he will open the door if someone comes, he walked calmly out of his room and down the stairs.

He grabbed the knob quickly, and opened it to see a blonde girl looking shyly up at him. Grinning, and mimicking a butler, he bowed respectfully. "May I help, Madam?"

 

Seeing Axel, Namine felt her cheeks growing warm and she quickly looked down, avoiding his gaze.
"G-good morning, Axel..." she said, almost uncertain of how to respond to his butler charade.

 

A bit taken aback at Naminé's movements, as in the back of his mind he recognized the familiarity, and he wouldn't be a good matchmaker if he didn't pick it up. Studying intently and keeping up with his act, he straightened up again, and now in a amazing English accent replied, "Good morning, lady Naminé. How can I serve your lovely and angelic presence for today?"

Axel gave her small polite smile, ever the actor.

 

Namine struggled to keep her cheeks from burning again as she looked up into his eyes.
A big mistake, as the sight of his sparkling, emerald green ones made her feel nervous all over again, and she quickly looked back down.
"Um...can I come in?" she asked, meekly.

 

Naminé caught his attention again at her peculiar behavior. But he shook it off, not wanting to think of what could be wrong. Not now.

Nodding, Axel opened the door for her, showing the full view of the inside, and raised his arm as if directing to the living room. Still with his accentuation, he eyed her delicately, "Please, do. Make yourself at home. Just sit on the chair on the desk, and Axel the Matchmaker will be right with you."

He wiggled his eyebrows jokingly with a grin plastered, before sticking his nose up snobbily. "Master is waiting."

 

Namine gave a small giggle as she walked into the room and took a seat where Axel had gestured.

 

Axel followed her, closing the door behind him carelessly. Hearing it shut, he sat across from her on the same table he interviewed Roxas and Demyx in, and took out the notepad to Roxas' name. Smiling at her, he explained, "As I said in the phone, I do have a few questions to ask. But we can talk and hang out later if you want. But still, how have you been doing? Having looked at your face for awhile. I haven't seen Roxas lately either, that twerp. Have you?"

 

"I've talked to him a couple of times," Namine nodded. "He seemed fine..."

 

"Really?" Axel questioned, scratching his head. Okay, so he had to say a little white lie to get the conversation where he wanted it to, but it was for his best friend's sake. It was good she was acting normal again, easier for him. He eyed her carefully, "Not to get into your personal business, but what do you think of him? I mean, you like him?"

 

"As a friend of course," Namine nodded. "He's always so kind and gentle...he's almost like a brother to me."

 

''Come on Axel dontlet me down..''Roxas mumbled as he stood at the back alley leaning on the wall

 

Wrong answer, Axel thought to himself wincing, hearing what she said. This is going to be way harder than he planned. I mean, a brother? That's going to be hard to break.

Sighing, he eyed the girl with widened eyes, questioning, "A brother? Are you sure about that, I mean, that could be what you think you feel. You might never be too sure. Just saying."

 

"Well, we're close," Namine said, "and so, I'm pretty sure we're like that...I mean, he's like family..."
She wondered why Axel was asking her so many questions about this - was there something he wanted to know?
