"First Aonuma reveals lots of Zelda Wii details, then Square Enix talks about working on 5 unannounced titles, and finally Kingdom Hearts' Father slips two key details that may just reveal what he has in store for fans this year... this latest edition of Famitsu magazine has been nothing but glorious.

This time, like on many other times, Nomura's interview was about Kingdom Hearts - he talked about Sora's character, Kingdom Hearts: BBS, and... Kingdom Hearts 3.

In fact, he let these two very key details slip:

    - Nomura believes Birth By Sleep shows that the Kingdom Hearts Osaka dev team has similar ability to create a quality KH title
    - Kingdom Hearts 3 will be implemented as soon as possible

Essentially, this means that KH3 could start its' presumably long cycle of development by the team that has done KH: BBS - they're free of work (as far as we know) and they've shown that they can create a great KH title. Couple that knowledge with the fact that he wants to begin work on KH3 ASAP, and you've got yourself a sequel."

Why can't it be multi-platform? It's all the rage now and everyone wins.

Well considering Nomura's love for the PS brand I could easily see it as a PS3 exclusive. But it could also be for the Wii.. 60+ million units sold speak quite loudly XD

Making KH3 a PS3 exclusive would be really foolish. IIRC, it's the worst-selling console out of the three current ones, not to mention how the PS3 is mostly for "hardcore" games (and KH is not a hardcore game). Wii is more oriented for family-friendly titles.. like KH. Not to mention how it'll make SE and Disney more money. The reason KH and KH2 were on the PS2 was probably mainly because the PS2 was in the position the Wii is in currently: the top-selling console. I could see KH3 going on the Xbox 360 before the PS3.
It just makes more sense to have KH3 go on the Wii.
And before anyone mentions graphics... is KH really a game that needs uber-fancy graphics?
And with the article Nuff linked to, it seems Nomura has interest in doing so, which is wise.
Also, you've probably heard of Epic Mickey, a Wii exclusive. People who like that will hear about KH3, and how it's similar to EM (kind of), and get it. KH3 on the Wii could bring immense sales.

    On a semi-related note, KH3 should so have a Mission Mode-esque feature.

Spreading KH3 to the Wii wouldn't be very awesome for the game. Either it'd have to be a Wii exclusive, which I wouldn't fancy having to play, or it could be a PS3 & 360 game, like FFXIII.

Screw the money, (even though lots of stuff is about money,) cause a KH3 would sell consoles, especialy if they sell it right. Sure, it's for a slightly younger audience, but the people they started with have grown up, and still love it. It'd be nice if they just matured it up even the slightest, (which is what they kinda did in these recent spin-offs. Vanitas was a one-man game maturing machine, by himself!)

I also want to see what they'd do with the graphics if they uped it to nex-gen. Cartoonish realism? I'm thinking the CGI they use for the openings and endings as being the near standard for normal, thanks to Crystal Tools! I just want to see what they'll do!

Actually, no. That's the not the interview. See the June 29 date near the title? Yeah.. They still talk about the production of BbS and Coded.

1- Ever heard of Little Big Planet? Mod Nation Racers? Ratchet and Clank? Sonic? The Lego series? Buzz? Singstar? All these games ( and a lot more) are on the PS3 ( and other consoles as well). It may be a "hardcore" console, but it definitely doesn't forget the "family-friend" side of things.

2- True, but I wouldn't say KH is a 100% "family-friend" game (if you ignore the the cartoony looks). The story for example is far to deep for say a 7 year old fully understand.

    3- That's true.

4- Why? Nomura has shown that he definitely doesn't like the 360.

5- The thing is, both the 360 and PS3 allow for a much more faithful representation of the world, enemies, characters and all that makes a game atractive for the eye, and the game itself a much more deeper experience.

6- Read above. It's an old interview, not the latest.

7-Yes, that is true. But again, notice how epic the artwork for that game was ( Epic Mickey) and how everyone was excited but when the first screens showed up the hype for that game went from " Awesome!" to "Meh"(not saying that there aren't people that are still excited for the game). So I'm guessing that with the Wii's history, it won't actually sell that much( usually only Nintendo titles sell well on the Wii). Also it's a bit dark for the "family-friendly" Wii audience ( in my opinion that is).

Now, with all that said I wouldn't be at all surprised if it were for the Wii ( and exclusive). But at the moment, all we can do is wait.

    What the..?..

I provided a link to the "news" on vgchartz.com. Furthermore, none of the links provided in said vgchartz page had the interview you linked above. Also their source for the news was Nintendo Everything(linked).

And even if that wasn't enought the interview you linked above was from JUNE 29 of 2009, and the interview with the info that KH3 production would start soon is from the latest Famistu magazine.

1-A couple exclusive family/kids-oriented titles does not outweigh the amount of mature games on it. KH is a kids game series.

2-Same could be said about almost any game. KH is family-oriented, hence why the commercials are mostly on channels such as Disney XD and Nickelodeon.

4-Wasn't aware of that. With FFXIII being on the 360 as well as the PS3, It would have shown otherwise.

5-Is that really necessary for a game like this? Do we need a realistic-looking Aladdin walking around Agrabah? Most of the worlds, sans Port Royal, are cartoony, so realistic graphics don't mix well. It's just not a game series that needs fancy graphics.

6-It still shows he has interest, though, even if it was from over 6 months ago.

7-I still see hype for it. It's probably going to be one of the big things at E3 this year (in fact, I won't be shocked if KH3 is revealed then)

1- True, but my point was that the PS3 ( or 360 for that matter) aren't "hardcore only" consoles you know? They also have loads of "family friend" games .

    2- I'll give you that.

4- Ah but you see, Nomura is only directing FF XIII Versus ( he only designed the characters for FF XIII if I'm not mistaken..) which happens to be a PS3 exclusive and he happens to have mentioned several times that it will remain a PS3 exclusive.

5- Never said that we needed realism. What I said was ( or what I tried to say was) that the game on the PS3 or 360 could have much more detailed enviornments, enemies, weapons, and so on and still be cartoony. Imagine gameplay with the level of detail the cutscenes from the intro and ending from KH1 or KH2. Still cartoony and even more awesome!

6- True, 6 months ago he had interest in doing so. Problem is, what about now? None of us know.

7- Oh yes, there is still hype for it. Just not nearly as much as I saw before gameplay pics were shown. Also I'd love for KH3 to at least be announced. That way we could know that the production of the game had already begun. ( And on a personal note I think Halo Reach will be the biggest thing at E3 :P)

i dont see kingdom hearts 3 for the wii, i see it more as a PS3 or even an XBOX 360 game. I also dont see KH as a kids game, family oriented is for all ages from small to old. I would also like to point out that the XBOX and the PS3 are not only for rated M games and if you think that then you seriously need to do research.

There is no doubt in my mind that KH3 will be on the PS3, if not, then at least the PSP.
Will it be multi-platform? Maybe, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.
Nomura will AT LEAST use a Sony system, and we're lucky, another one as well.

Thats pretty cool news there thanks for the info. I'm hoping they take their time on this, I don't care waiting for a few years as long as the game is good. Also I hope it is mainly on PS3 as KH is more suited for that I feel. They could have spin off games etc... like they do for the wii sometimes when an Xbox and playstation game comes out, just like a downgraded version (graphics wise).

I prefer it to be both on PS2 and PS3 (kinda like Zelda Twilight Princess was Wii and Gamecube).
Devolepers are still making PS2 games, and many people like myself don't want to buy a PS3 for 1 game.
At least finish the "Sora trilogy" (seeing how KH4 might be a new cast) on PS2.

I bet a lot of worlds from BBS will be revisited.
Neverland for example, because the wooden Keyblade with Terra's name which is in Peters chest.

Hasnt Nomura said somewhere before that he does not plan to reuse the PS2 for future titles?

Atleast, not number titles, I think.

I dunno if he's said that but I'm sure I read somewhere that FM+/Re: CoM were the last Kingdom Hearts games to go on the PS2.

...KH3 will be on the PS3. It obviously won't be a Wii exclusive and it probably won't even be released to the Wii or any other console. There is a 99.99999% that KH3 won't be a Wii exclusive(for those of you Wii fans). There's one reason why it can't be...the controls. Nomura barely used the touch screen on the DS for 358/2 because if it was the focus of the controls, it'd ruin the "KH feeling". He said something like that himself...<< And what is the main attraction when it comes to gameplay of the Wii? The Wiimote. Motion sensitivity would pretty much be left out entirely and we all know that the Wii is basically a Gamecube with slightly upgraded graphics. So...without the Wiimote, it's doomed to be completely metaphorically raped by the other consoles.

Anyways...would it be worth it to make wagers for a 2012 release of KH3? 8DDDD
