Actually, it is the Keyblade that chooses its own bearer. Take Sephiroth's battle into account, in KH II. "Well. That's an intresting sword you're carrying."
    Donald: "It's the Keyblade."
Sephy: "So that's a Keyblade. And I suppose you must be IT'S chosen wielder?"
Sora: "So what if I am?"
Sephy: "I wonder if it won't change it's mind,.... once I defeat you."

Kingdom Hearts probably plays a role in it.

Any way, excellent theory, it seems very likely. Though to answer the question of the two Oathkeepers, as longs there are keychains, you can probably have any Keyblade. Though, Oathkeeper and Oblivion seem like Roxas's very own keyblades, and maybe they are his default, as Sora's Kingdom Key was to him. (Though since Roxas is part of Sora, he gets to yse that as a default also.)

Personally, I think that Sora physically made Kingdom Key when he got it, with his heart, and that Kingdom Key was part of a wide variety of Keyblades, which have attachable keychains, and thus, switch abilities, whilst Terra's, Aqua's, and Ven's all are set abilities, unless they obtain these detachable keychained keyblades. I don't think they will until the end of BBS.
On a closing note, (I'll make short), anyone else notice how Xehonart's/Ansem's/Riku's dark keyblade could only release captured hearts? And it didn't have a keychain? Proves my theory. (The attacks that you fight against Dark Riku are channeled by Riku into the Keyblade.

Ya, that could also mean that someone else could have chosen it, it would have been diffrent if he would have said "So, you are the one it chose....or it chose you" Or something along those lines not, Its Chosen Wielder....ITS is talking about the Keyblade, not the keyblade choosing Sora...

    Ugh, my brain hurts :(

That's a good point, they did say the kingdom key chose Sora rather than the other way around...but it's not likely Sora formed the kingdom key since it chose him implying that it already had a form when it did...

Sora pretty much puts his being into all his attacks as well, it's not just a Riku thing cuz EVERYONE DOES IT!!!

I've sorta always thought Kairi might've had something to do with it...she trusted Sora with her heart, why not the keyblade to?

I mean maybe the keyblade isn't a physical thing, but a supernatural being that has been formed from strong hearts. When Sora received it, maybe it took a form convinient to him for that present situation, or was chosen to be his original keyblade.

With the Riku thing, I meant that the dark waves coming after you were made by Riku, not the keyblade itself.

Well, everyone seems to call the Keyblade an 'it'. Another example is Yuffie and Leon in KH I.
'The Keyblade chooses its wielder. And it chose you.'

All I'm sain' is that it definitly isn't Kingdom Hearts that cooses who gets it.

    settle down peoples...

It's okay dude, I don't think he was really all that offended...remember, this is just a battle of opinions...and until Nomura officially comes forward no one's really wrong...or is everyone wrong?

The Keyblade def has a will of it's own, no doubt about that...

No,no.... I'm not offended, just stating, correcting and re-directing so as to add to everyones opinion, and wipe out any misconceptions we can already prove false. (Sorry if I'm a little fast for you; not trying to act sarcastic.)

yeah that conversation really went nowhere fast

now I do believe that the Keyblade has a will of its own, but I still like to think that either Kingdom Hearts or some other external force is really choosing the Key Bearers, not the Key itself. I honostly don't have any proof to support this it is just my gut feeling. i've seen the Keyblade possess a will like when it tried to leap out of Sora's hand at times but i have yet to see anything that shows the Keyblade possessing a sentience. at least sentience in the terms of being able to think. and so what if Sephiroth, Yuffie and Leon said "it" chose Sora. are any of these characters TRUE experts who understand the working of the Keyblade perfectly? probably not. so it is not that much of a stretch to see the Keyblade being the chooser just a common conception. if a wiser character such as Yen Sid blatantly states "the Keyblade's sentience chooses its master" then thats a bit more believable.

Wasn't there a thread about the Keyblade having a mind of its own and it chose sora because he rejected the darkness or something......

or they could have used it just from lack of options cause the keyblade could not be male or female, so what else is there, it, i think the bigger poin there is that is HAS the ability to choose

well I'm not trying to completley shoot down the possability of the Keyblade choosing the Bearer, just an alternative.

provide the Yen Sid quote if you can, cuz it may help my theory.

the fact of the Keyblade switching to Riku in Hollow Bastion proves that the Keyblade/Kingdom Hearts/whatever it is that picks the Bearers can't tell good from evil. It looks like the strength of one's heart decides the weilder. after all Triton brought up the story of Keyblade bringing destruction and ruin so obviously at one point the Keyblade was used in an evil way. (this will most likely be explored in bbs). as for Leon and other FF characters knowing so much it's not that much of a stretch. they originate in Radiant Garden which was ruled by Ansem the Wise. Radiant Garden is where all the trouble seemed to start from with the Heartless and Xehanort and whatnot. so during Hollow Bastion's destruction and the fleeing of Leon and others chances are they picked up some valuable information. how the information was gathered is another question. also they might have had interactions with Terra Ven and Aqua.

Yen Sid: "Chosen Wielder of the Keyblade!"

Well, that's all he says, nothing about who chose him..........

Wait, Yen Sid said that Mickey found the Keyblade on the other side of the door to darkness....................................

    Anyone else gonna raise questions???

Don't feel bad, I'm sure Merlin, the greatest bookworm ever, said the same thing about sometimes the weapons choose their masters, "Your keyblade case in point." or something like that...

Anyways, I think that only Kingdom Key has a will of it's own...perhaps it's the one choosing who wields a keyblade or not...

As Kairi's Grandmother said, "Even in the deepest darkness, there's a light that will never go out."

I think that even in the realm of darkness there has to be some trace of light...and that trace of light would be a keyblade...and it's gold none the less "Ooo, Ahh"

oh well if Merlin said it then i'm 100% convinced. you just don't argue with Merlin.
