Kalian - 150PA (Post Apocalypse)

"Whatever happened in the past belongs there. Live for the moment. We all make mistakes, but it's how you live after that counts. I am lucky to have met you." Kyla linked her arm through his. "Let's go to the campsite and build a fire to keep predators away."

 

"Right." he said, going with her. "I'll keep watch to night, you can rest."

 

Kyla noticed something on the path. "Help me Tor, it's Falmer. I'm not sure why he's here but he's in a bad way. I need to help him." She lifted the unconscious Ice Elf and carried him to the safe spot she found. there would be no threats here. She gently checked his breathing and watched his eyes flicker. Taking the water bottle she helped him drink, a sip at a time. After he had finished she soaked a cloak in a nearby stream and wrapped him in it to lower his temperature. "He will be fine with us and it's safe here. Come and join me please."

 

He went next to her and used the wind to cool him. "Any idea why he's here?" he asked.

 

"No idea. He seemed to be settling down as a farmer. The locket just said 'I'll always be your friend.' I can't understand it. Is he trying to find us or is it coincidence that we are on the same path?"

 

"I have no idea." he said. "I just hope he'll be okay."

 

Kyla hugged Tor and rested her head against him. It seems that not everyone wants to leave us behind. It seems that this trek is worth it. |The records say three days travel and we have done the easy bit. It's going to get rough from now on."

 

Falmer opened his eyes and saw Kyla staring back at him, "Ugh, Kyla? Kyla!" He jumped up but fell straight back down, he was still exhausted from his running. "Kyla......I need....to tell you.....something......I....." Falmer closed his eyes again, he need to rest before he even began to explain what he had done.

 

"Calm down Falmer, you can tell us later." He turned to Kyla and said "We are tough, it shouldn't be too hard for us. You should get some rest too." He got up and went to keep guard.

 

Kyla stroked his hair and smiled at him. "It can wait, whatever it is. Your recovery is much more important. Did you come all this way to tell me something or are you travelling as well?" She dabbed a cold wet rag over his face. "Just rest and become stronger."

 

Falmer was back in the frozen wasteland when a figure one again appeared. This figure wasn't a male though, it was actually a little girl, "I'm sorry, I betrayed you and our entire village, I'm sorry!" The girl smiled coldly,
"Sorry isn't good enough I'm afraid."
"No! Don't leave me, don't leave me.....don't leave me...."
Falmer woke up quickly and startled Kyla, "Don't leave me."

 

Kyla held him against her. "It's ok, I'm here. I won't leave you. It was just a bad dream and you are with friends."

 

"Kyla, Tor I have to tell you something about me. I wasn't a hermit, I was an exile." Falmer took a deep breath and began again, "I am a murderer, it wasn't a human it was one of my own people. I am different from them, I have passion burning inside me which my people don't have." Falmer stood up slowly and walked around the camp to see if he had recovered before he spoke again, "Even before my......atrocity I was treated like an exile, my parents had it hard along with my.......sister."

 

"Your sister?" he asked. He was paying attention but still keeping watch.

 

"Oh Falmer! It's alright. That is the past and I don't judge you for it. You control your future and I believe that you are just passionate and things affect you more. I trust you and I believe in you."

 

Falmer felt relieved but he still had more to say, "There was a reason why I killed....him. He began dating my little sister, I was alright with that but then he found out about me and began.........beating her. The weird thing was she still went out with him, I told her not to but.......she didn't listen to me." Falmer sat down againto calm down, "I confronted the man and we got in a fight, I ended up stabbing him with one of my knives. My sister found out....and....she wouldn't stop crying, after that she hated me. For a while no one found out...until...my sister told the council....I was then sentenced to exile. The one person I loved, trusted, cared and protected for my entire life betrayed me. Last thing I heard about her was that she began living on her own and become quite weak. I am returning to my homeland because......because.....I feel I have to." The camp was silent for a while, Kyla and Tor were trying to process this news.

 

Kyla held him against her, comforting him. "You did what you thought was best, you protected your sister. We are traveling north and we could easily be passing through your village. Travel with us."

 

"I agree, we should go together." he said. "We could help you."

 

"You may be passing through my village!?" Falmer had a worried expression on his face now, "It's freezing in and around my village, you would freeze to death if you tried to pass through it unfortunately the fastest way to A is a straight line, as my people would say. You need a guide!"

 

"Will you be our guide?" he asked. He hoped he said yes.
