Kalian - 150PA (Post Apocalypse)

"Try and be more optimistic. We will find it on the way. There must be other places where the herbs grow. If necessary I'll gather them myself. Don't worry, I'll look after you."

 

"I will help you look." he said. "And I shall look after you as well."

 

Kyla grabbed his hand and dragged him the final few yards into the village. She saw that a lot of people there were people she knew. She began chatting to them . She introduced Tor to everyone she spoke to and told them that he was living with her from now on.

 

Tor said hello to all the people, He also said that yes, he was going to be living with Kyla. He wasn't used to having so much attention.

 

Falmer woke up from a nightmare, "Not again, why doesn't it just leave me alone. I can't keep my head in the past, I have to think about the present." Falmer opened the window and noticed a group of villagers by the inn. When he exited the inn he saw Kyla and Tor, "Kyla! Tor! What are you doing in the village so early in the morning?"

 

Kyla smiled and hugged Falmer. "Great to see you. We are off on a journey to find the scrolls. I'm just trading for herbs and other goods that we will need for the trip. How are you settling into your new life? Well I hope." She held Tor's hand.

 

"Scrolls? Ah yes, the prophecy. Well, I have a responsibilty in this village know. I am managing the farm on the outskirts of the village. Be careful on your journey, who knows what creatures and other dangers there may be."

 

"I'm really glad that you've found a home here. I so wanted you to be happy. We will be careful. I have a map and lodestone so we won't get lost. We may even come back soon. So you are a farmer now? You'll be very good at it."

 

Falmer was going to say something but heisitated, "No, she doesn't have to know, she's on a mission I can't hinder her." he thought. "Well, you should start your journey now before it gets really hot."

 

"Is something the matter, you seem a little hesitant. We'll be back I promise. You can talk to me you know."

 

"No it's okay. You should get going, the more you wait to leave the less you want to leave." Falmer left and haeded to the farm, "I have to let go of my past, there's no point in worrying about it I had no choice."

 

"It's obviously worrying you, so I won't leave until you are happy. Please tell me and I'll try to help."

 

"No it's alright! I don't need your help," Falmer's finished his sentence under his breath, "just not yet." Falmer continued to walk towards the farm, "Just go, I don't want to keep you."

 

Kyla watched him go with a little sadness. Whatever was bothering him was enough to make him tetchy and not at all himself. She wanted to go after him but knew this would probably anger him. 'Please come to me if you need help' she thought.

 

"Damn it!" Falmer was thinking to himself while he ploughed the dry, arid land, "How could I push her away like that? It wasn't my place, all she wanted to do was help." Falmer finished ploughing and began planting the seeds, "It's all my fault, if I hadn't done that to him I wouldn't be in this position, having nightmares and fighting with my friends. Damn him."

 

Kyla walked sadly out towards the various trading stalls. She was hurt by his rebuttal more than she cared to admit. She had thought that he trusted her, but now she saw that he didn't.

 

Falmer sighed, he needed to calm down if he got angry he could go into a very bad rage, "Why did I have to be born with such a temper? I have to learn to control this if I'm going to keep my new friends."

 

Before they left the village Kyla left a gift for Falmer with a friend at the Inn. Inside was a chain with a locket on it. She wanted him to realise that she was not angry, so leaving the gift was effectively a peace offering. Inside was a neatly folded small piece of paper, on which she had written 'I will always be your friend.' She walked with Tor, feeling better now that she had left this message.

 

Falmer couldn't keep his anger inside him, he droped the rake and decided to head back to the inn to rest before he went into a rage. When he arrived at the inn one of the villagers was waiting and came up to him, "Um, excuse me are you Falmer? I have this-" Falmer grabbed him by the scruff of his shirt and pushed him up against the wall,
"If you know what's good for you then you'll leave me alone." He dropped the villager and when the villager hit the ground the locket fell out of his hand,
"Kyla wanted me to give it to you." Saying that he ran off out of the inn. Falmer picked up the locket and went into his room. He held the locket up to his forehead and sat quietly thinking. After thinking for a while he opened the locket and read the message that was inside, after reading it he smiled then began to laugh a little, "Thank you Kyla, you are a true friend."

 

Kyla smiled as she hoped he would understand that she wanted him to realise that she would come back and that she would be there for him. That's what friendship meant to her. She remembered the old villager who had been the first to befriend her and how he had ignored the others who wanted her driven away. She would continue that legacy if she could, showing one person at a time that race was not important if people were willing to understand.
