He smiled and sat next to her. "Well, I hope they get well soon. It's great that Falmer is doing well there. And yes, it is very beautiful, but not quite as beautiful as you are."

 

"I've been studying the map and we should be able to follow it easily enough. There is hope yet. Can you imagine the future with no more hate and fighting? I want to find the scrolls, but I can't do it alone, I'm too weak."

 

"I will stay by your side and help you when you need it." he said. He put his arm around her.

 

Kyla rested her head on his shoulder. She didn't realise how deep his love for her was until this moment. "I don't expect you to face danger on my behalf, if fact I would hate it. I just want to find the scrolls and read the prophecy for myself. I think I know where they are now." Kyla hoped that she was right.

 

"I will go with you." he said. "If that is what you wish. I will do anything for you."

 

"I hope still be with me when I'm old and frail. I know I want to be with you. So you really have no memory of family? That is terrible. I will be your family if you want." Kyla hugged him.

 

He smiled and said "Thank you." He hugged her back.

 

Kyla took off the pendant and handed it to him. "Do you understand it? You hold it up to the light."

 

He took the pendant. He held it up to the light. "What am I supposed to see?"

 

Kyla nuzzled his neck. "It's a map." She enjoyed being with him.

 

"I'm sure we can look at it later." he said giving it back to her. "Right now I just want to be with you."

 

Kyla sighed. The pendant gave her an excuse to lean as close to him as possible and now he had given it back. She sat up and played give the golden disk, thinking of what would happen. "Why did you join me last night? Were you lonely?"

 

"A little. Plus I wanted to be near you." He looked at her. "Did I do something wrong?"

 

"Not at all, I just don't like the idea of you being scared or lonely. You can join me whenever you want to. You do know that don't you?"

 

"I do now" he said, smiling. He kissed her cheek. "I love you."

Kyla kissed him back. What was it about him that meant that she trusted him so easily? It was his gentle honesty she decided; he seemed incapable of deceit.

He couldn't believe it. He had a loved one. After being alone for so long, he finaly had someone he could trust with his heart.

Kyla gently held him. "I should be getting things ready for when the others return. I'd rather sit here with you though."

 

"I can help you get things ready." He held her. "Even though I want to sit here and just hold you like this."

 

"A little while longer won't hurt. I expect they'll be late anyway. I can spend more time with you. There isn't much to do today."
