Just Sad

I'm not sure if anyone here's heard of it, but there's a show on Spike called World's Wildest Police Videos. I finally caught up on my DVR recordings of them, and one of the last scenes I watched, it was about a father and his 16-year-old child who were a part of a some group -- I can't remember what it was called (I'll have to re-watch it later), but it started with an S -- that had known history with being violent toward the law.

Anyway, they killed two policemen during a routine stop and later got killed themselves at a store parking lot when several units tracked them down. It's just sad, especially for the 16-year-old male since he never got a chance to get his life going, though at the same time, I don't have much sympathy because he made some pretty bad choices following in his dad's footsteps.

 

That's not a child. That's a teenager.

 

Yes, child. Child can be used when referring to your sons or daughters of any age. It's kid(s) that's limited and can't be used on people of age 13+.

You: Yes, it's 10. Face it, you're wrong.
Me: 3 + 3 = 6

 

But I've never said anything even close to how wrong that is.

 

While this is rather amusing to watch, let's defer to a couple dictionary entries shall we?

So, roughly equivalent, barring the latter's evolution from a name for goats. And both applicable to teenagers in several senses, though it may have been misleading to use the sons and daughters defense, unless you're related to one of the victims.

@Amaury, "Just accept the fact you're wrong" is not exactly the rhetoric of a smart or thoughtful person; while it may be frustrating to be treated like an idiot, acting like one is hardly the proper response. And @Square Enix-chan, quit being such a pedant.

Perhaps you both should realize that being right or wrong isn't important, especially on a forum filled with people that (chances are) you will never actually see a day in your life.

 

Nope. We're both wrong, but from different points of view.

I don't really care about whether or not I'm right as long as the other person is wrong. Even if we're both right, I count it as a loss.
