Implemented Just a few plugins that may be worth looking into

It's the changes made to the SQL DB, runs some table scans to find where your name is and start changing it... the changes might not be that many, but the tables are big and they cause some lagging.

 

I meant abuse more in terms of names themselves, people have requested some...questionable name changes in the past and rather than chase people down for it, it'd probably be easier for it to work the way it does now.

Plus yeah, it'd be better to get the DBEs over with before we try anything too widespread. Name changes now, when done by the admins, tends to lag the forums and I believe has caused DBEs in the past.

 

Name changes causing errors is something that occurs over all vBulletin boards. I've seen it on other boards too. Some refuse name changes entirely, due to the damage it causes the boards. To be honest, I'm surprised we allow them with the regularity that we do.

The name-change one isn't really one I'd press for, as Misty has said that she's fine with doing the job herself, and the name change thread makes it easier to follow who's who. But hey, I'm just playing Devil's Advocate here.

 

I usually try to time the name changes to when a lot of people are not online, or when the server is running well, to avoid problems. I realize I got pretty backlogged recently but I do usually stay pretty up to date with it.

 

Just out of curiosity, how can you tell when the server is running smoothly?

 

When everything is responding & loading fast, usually, haha.
