    Full of premieres on Nickelodeon.

New episodes of The Fairly OddParents every day starting July 7 leading up to the premiere of A Fairly Odd Summer, which will once again star Drake Bell and Daniella Monet.

Yeah, both Fairly Odd Parents and Spongebob really need to die. The older stuff is still good, but I can't even stand anything new either have put out in the last 7 years.

i like the movie though because i like looking at drake bell.

I'm sure people said the same about Rugrats, and it did well. Looney Tunes and Tom & Jerry have been going much longer, by the way.

Spongebob had a sharp decline the moment they got a new director. Both it and Fairly Odd Parents is victim to some of the worst flanderization I've seen in anything

Yeah, there comes a time where the old should make way for the new.

The fact that Nick cancels shows left and right and leaves those two to ruin childhood memories baffles me...

I think it goes back to what I mentioned in my Big Night Tonight thread. See the last paragraph, especially:

True. Shows like Danny Phantom didn't run as long, but at least they went for as long as the developers saw fit and they actually ended and weren't canceled. I personally see nothing with this because they are still funny, and it's not like it's anything new. Like I said, look at how long Rugrats ran for and how long Looney Tunes and Tom & Jerry have been running for -- the latter two running for much, much longer.

If shows are really popular, then I see nothing wrong with them running for however long. Also, to give you and everyone else a general outline:

    Rugrats:
    • Number of Seasons: 9
    • Number of Episodes: 172
    • Original Run: August 11, 1991 - June 8, 2004
    • Duration: 13 years, 9 months, and 4 weeks

    SpongeBob SquarePants:
    • Current Number of Seasons: 9
    • Current Number of Episodes: 188
    • Original Run: May 1, 1999 (Pilot), July 17, 1999 - Present (Official)
    • Current Duration with Pilot: 15 years, 1 month, 3 weeks, and 6 days
    • Current Duration without Pilot: 14 years, 11 months, 1 week, and 4 days

    The Fairly OddParents:
    • Current Number of Seasons: 9
    • Current Number of Episodes: 343 (133 aired and 210 segments)
    • Original Run: September 4, 1998 - March 23, 2001 (Oh Yeah! Cartoons), March 30, 2001 - Present (Official)
    • Duration with Only Oh Yeah! Cartoons: 2 years, 6 months, 2 weeks, and 5 days
    • Current Official Duration: 13 years, 2 months, 4 weeks, and 1 day

The last two are, of course, as of today, Saturday, June 28, 2014.

I feel like the big reason Looney Tunes and Rugrats and such ran for so long was because they evolved and changed with the times. Rugrats added new characters and plotlines. Looney Tunes does a ton of different things with its characters.

Whereas Spongebob is still 'do stupid sh*t for a lame payoff' and Fairly Odd Parents is still 'Timmy makes a dumb wish and has to fix what he f*cked up'. And while these formulas were fine for a while, they're now stale as hell.
