Speaking as a guitarist, Jimi Hendrix was great. There's no such thing as someone "copying his chords and notes" however. Chords predate Hendrix. Those "notes" he played? They predate him too. He's not famous for how technically skilled he was(I could give a large list of better guitarists than Hendrix) but rather the fact that he made guitar effects popular. When you say "copy" that isn't even a bad thing in music. That's called influence. If it wasn't for that, music as we know it wouldn't exist. Musicians are influenced by other musicians. Hell, Hendrix himself wasn't entirely original. He took time to produce a cover of someone else's song(All Along the Watchtower). Nobody makes music without taking in the things they hear from other people. That's just how things work.
And like those who "copied" him, Hendrix was a product of his influences. It doesn't invalidate what he did for music, nor does it invalidate the people who take influence from him.
He's got some awkward guitar playing though. If you ever take the time to really learn his original songs, it's like, a totally unnatural way to play.
