Whoa, I'm actually kinda surprised at this. Dan Castellaneta usually voices everything. One thing I liked about him is that he actually sounded on par with Robin Williams in the role.

Listened to the new guy and yeah, he doesn't sound like Genie at all. I guess it's not such a big deal because as far as characters go, Genie is pretty minor.

YES! I love Jim Meskimen, and I've always been really annoyed by Dan Castellaneta's performance as Genie. I love Castellaneta, but his Genie sounds nothing like Robin Williams and has no comedic spontaneity whatsoever. Sounds like Homer Simpson reading out loud from the phone book, that's what his Genie sounds like... He's spent the last 20 years sucking the life out of a great character. So bizarre that a great VA like him would do such a thing. When I first discovered that Meskimen had taken over the role I was overjoyed. Though I admittedly have never actually heard his performance, so let me take a gander at that Disneyland Adventures clip...

EDIT: Oh, he's fantastic! Rapid-fire and pitch-perfect. And... the poster directly above me has a view diametrically opposed to mine, how do you like that? XD Hope it doesn't start a war.

Hmm, I'm sorta ok with this since Dan Castellaneta sounded a bit too much like Homer Simpson rather than Genie. Still, I don't think anyone can beat Robin Williams's Genie voice.

Well of course no one can beat Robin Williams' Genie voice! He's awesome at it. Still though, I think this is a major improvement. I don't know what it is about Dan Castellaneta, but I always though that his Genie voice was kinda forced, as well as... scratchy... I guess is the term I want? It also just seems to lack the natural energy and excitement of Robin Williams. With Jim though, I can definitely sense the same kinda energy, and it doesn't even seem like he's doing much more than casual talk. So yeah, I think this will be great for KH!

Okay, I'm relieved that I'm not the only one who thinks Meskimen does it better than Castellaneta, hehe. For a while, I was afraid I was an insane person. I've heard so many people who say things along the lines of what Coma said... Good to know there are at least two other people who agree with me. :D

I mean, I'd barely call it a difference of opinion. Meskimen's portrayal of Genie just plain sounds and acts like Williams, and Castellaneta's just plain doesn't. It's odd, Castellaneta was an excellent choice to replace Williams, in theory; I feel like if he played Genie with his natural voice and personality, he'd get that sharp voice and rapid delivery of the original, but in practice, he instead used that slower, deeper, buffoonish portrayal, and ends up sounding completely different...

Anyway, sorry for rambling. I'm really looking forward to Re:coded! I wonder if Kathryn Beaumont will play Alice again, or if they'll go with one of her stand-ins. Guess we'll find out. Oooh, and the Cheshire Cat will be voiced for the first time in the series. Oh, this is so exciting.

I wonder if someday they'll update the Days cinematic yet again so that it's on par with the Re:coded cinematic... or else make playable HD versions of both games, maybe for 3.5? Or whatever they're planning.

Yeah, that's going to take a lot of getting used to. And while I'm on the subject of voices......what was with that Aladdin voice? That sounded just a little too high pitched. This is the genie we need

It'll definitely be different, but it's good to know that this guy has some experience. Although, my personal favorite genie is James Monroe Iglehart from the Broadway production. That being said...he probably wouldn't be on the radar for the game.

If you mean the Aladdin voice from the Kinect Disneyland Adventures clip, that would be Scott Weinger, the ORIGINAL Aladdin. Of course he sounds a bit off, he's aged 22 years. Frankly, I love the way Disney uses the original actors whenever they can, regardless of how long it's been. And they can GET the actors too, because for the most part, Disney doesn't use huge celebrities as its vocal talent the way other companies do. Voicing a Disney character is a lifetime gig if you're willing to take it! Just imagine, 22 years from now, our children will be complaining that Flynn Rider's voice actor in their new video game sounds like he's trying too hard, only to be informed that that's still Zachary Levi, while that Flynn faces off against an Aladdin who sounds like he's in his 50s... (because hopefully by then Disney will have reconsidered its position on "Disney characters fighting each other")

Sorry, I get really excited whenever the subject turns to voice actors. Especially voice actors reprising a role after a long period of time. XD

New voice sounds very... not Genie. Dan may not sound much like Robin Williams, but it's pretty energetic.
Though to be fair, in that video linked it sounds a lot like it was badly directed

I like Dan Castellaneta, but this guy definitely sounds a lot more like the Genie I know. I'm all for this cast change. =)

The voice definitely sounds closer to the mark, but like Hatok said, sounds like the sample game was poorly directed. We'll see how it turns out, I guess! :v

Was it ever said why they're replacing Castellaneta?
