I used to have a lovely pirated Adobe Photoshop CS5 for all of my image editing needs, but then that computer crapped out. Now I have to deal with freeware since I'm not able to pirate anymore. God, it's like, do the developers even know what a user-interface is? Or user-friendliness, for that matter? Photoshop is the easiest program in the world to master by comparison. Anyone else have to make this horrible transition?

I'm sure that Jesus cares about your plight just as much as I do.

Different people prefer different things. I personally preferred GIMP over photoshop.

Well I like GIMP coz it's legit and free, and well there's a reason it's free, which is that.
But it's alright, a little dodgy and tricky sometimes but it mostly gets the job done.

I once had the lovely experience of searching for "GIMP mask" on Google when I couldn't figure out GIMP masking.

    Not my screenshot.

Though if this was taken 2 years ago...it would have still looked a lot cooler cause of the shell I was using.

A thirty minute graphic on PS . . . A three day nightmare on GIMP.

Yea, I put a lot of effort into my graphics >.> Thirty minutes is a super long time.

A good graphic takes longer though.

I downgraded once just to get rid of that fucking new brush that sometimes just decides it doesn't want to color something you have highlighted

Then I realized the size of the new pencil could be adjusted and went OH OK THEY JUST MOVED IT. FUCKIN 'TARDS.

Because it seems like half of this forum's fan base can't keep their boners over their FAVORITE TV SHOW EVER in their pants and thus find it necessary to constantly bleed the series into as many threads as possible with often little to no good reason.

I'm sorry I'm on a ranting mood because my friend requested I talk about why The Dark Knight Rises is not as good as many people still think (though I can still enjoy it)

S'okay. I just do it cause I know it ticks people off. I don't have to talk about my favorite things all the time, I don't think I'm that shallow. I just like it when users get aggravated at me, or try to tell me why it's a bad (movie/show/comic/etc) I get a good laugh out of it. I know the reason why so many people hate MLP is because of the constant/incessant remarks in the most irrelevant of situations. Just goes to show you one way to kill a fandom, but that means more for me >.< . . . It also means less funding . . . I think I'll shut up about all my favorite things from now on >.>

GIMP isn't so bad if you start off on it and learn to use it. It works fine if you don't want to pay. From talking to people, if you use it first before PS, you're generally fine with it and the transition from it to PS is easy, but if you start off in PS or get used to PS then going back to GIMP is really hard.

I work completely with GIMP. Photoshop is nice but like Midnight Star said I started off with GIMP. I can use PS fine and it really is easier and smoother in a lot of actual filters and effects but I'm more used to GIMP and it really doesn't take three hours for a half hour work I don't know what kind of fucking masterpiece of artwork you are making but realistically, I think 45 minutes to 50 minutes is comparable to a half hour of Photoshop work

I started off on GIMP as well, but since I'm not doing graphics but drawings and animations I prefer to work in SAI. I actually don't much like PS for drawing either, I just don't actually own it so I don't have to deal with it.
