I liked that interview. Seems that the game really isn't that great in the first place. Jeff was honest, and even if a critic doesn't like something, again, people don't have to buy it. What I don't get is why 'fans' are so mad that they'd quit the magazine etc. It makes no sense. It's just an opinion. =:/

I hope he can get another job because honesty shouldn't be punished like that. Can't say I've liked a few of his reviews but eh, it didn't affect me in any way. Also, it seems more like people that you posted in pics are mad at Eidos, and not Jeff.

That might explain some reasons, And besides highly advertising games like "Kane and Lynch" that already has a "Fair" gamespot score doesn't mean it should have a freakin higher score just because it's highly advertised! It should to the gameplay and the actions for it! Not just rating it high just because it's your favorite! I say good riddance to Jeff Gerstmann!
Also note that this is just MY opinion so don't get mad at me just for that

It still seems like the guy lost his job over that stupid rating on a crap video game. Even watching the commercials for the game, it looks like crap and reading other things on it...I think I agree that there's not much to actually -like- in the game so far. I usually don't like his reviews that much, but this game is like a version of GTA gone bad, as it looks so far. Maybe it's better than a corrupted version of GTA (which I <3 GTA games and this looks sub par in story) but I'll have to see.

    *sigh*

I'm sorry but the idea of all high-profile games should be given more attention (more than they have already got) and get higher scores in total bull****. It shows that they just give into hype.

Oh look another FPS with some big flaws, hmm it's been heavily advertised so 11/10.

Hmm, I've never heard about this game before, it's pretty good and original, but barely any advertising 7/10.

    >_>

    Makes perfect sense.

Now you know one special thing about the internet and life.

Freedom of speech means nothing in the internet unless you got the moolah to back it up.

I think you got it the wrong way. Jeff was fired because he didn't give the game a high score. If he had given the game a high score Jeff would have kept his job. As far as I know, Jeff was more willing to give an honest review and lose his job than to lie about the game for CNET.

Which is why I now respect the man.

It's a shame he got fired, and CNET are attempting to cover up the actual reasoning behind it, but life goes on, and I'm sure once this whole thing has blown over people will begin to trust GameSpot again. However, because of this, there will always be a little question in everybody's minds over the actual credibility of the reviews that they are seeing.

Yes, even though I didn't always like his reviews, he has my respect and I hope he'll find some good work out there that's better. Gamespot isn't that reliable any way and integrity should be valued.
