Can't say whether I support or oppose it. I mean, giving Twilight Princess an 8.8 would b an automatic place for my "get-the-hell-out-of-my-life" list. But if he got fired over little meticulous reviews, I don think it's worth it...

Prime example of what happens when you sell out. Gamespot has lost its values...well they weren't really good to begin with but that's beside the point.

I couldn't see getting fired over a bad review. If that was the case anyone who reviews games or movies would be canned for giving a bad review their boss didn't agree with.

Seems a little bit harsh to me.

He lost his job because a bunch of fanboys were mad that he didn't give their games as high of reviews as they wanted??? What kind of crap is that? I'm sorry but losing your job over not selling out to give people the game reviews they want to see is trash. I don't like some of his reviews, but I also don't buy games based off of the views of him or anyone other than asking some friends. I also don't decide to go to a movie based on critics' reviews. That's just ridiculous. Maybe now Gamespot will get someone in who caters to the whims of whoever pays them best instead of an opinion which whether we agree with or not, was at least still a review.

    Disappointing. Fanboys win again.

It wasn't the fan reactions as much as it was Eidos. If you went to the site post-Kane and Lynch launch there was an entire skin (as seen in the picture) and numerous features on the game. Eidos had pressured Gamespot into a good score for advertising purposes. So, whenever the game got a 6 Jeff got fired.

Keep in mind there is a HUGE uproar on Gamespot. This includes, but is not limited too:

    1) A 7,000+ topic in the Gamespot Off-Topic forums.

    2) GS user reviews of K&L all in the 1's.

    3) Several people canceling GS subscriptions costing an estimated 1,000 USD to cNet.

    4) Several suicide threads on how people hate GS.

Still, who cares? A company should not be allowed to pressure someone who is a reviewer and as for "Suicide threats" ...LAME. People do some stupid things and that has to be one of the most idiotic things that was catered to ever.

It does show how the site has sold out. Yes advertising is a big part of revenue but to give into advertisers complaints and fire someone for not saying a good review. I made you wonder what other games have been fixed.

Though I don't like his reviews. Good on Jeff for not giving into the advertisers.

Here's the video review that Eidos didn't like the tone.

Oh, this isn't something as major as actual suicide. They're just pissed off guys who make porn threads and/or with lots of obscenity towards CNet and Gamespot.

Well, that's my point. It's not a suicide thing at all. It's a hoax of passive aggressive bully tactics so they get what they want. No one was going to actually commit suicide and well, I'd still have said screw it even if they did at that point because that has to be the dumbest thing anyone would ever kill themselves over. I totally though believe it was a hoax to get their way like the little kid that says if he doesn't get a cookie he's going to scream and throw a tantrum on the ground.
