It's not that you don't understand it, it's just that your not smart enough to completely understand (not trying to insult) but you would have to learn how to code just in case you would want to be able to make a game and have a job as a game designer, learning how to talk like they do would actually help you create dialog for many character's in the game unless you lack the imaginative power to make character's seem dark and demented, or happy and full of energy, but i'm sure you would prefer a difrent job that doe's not require your head to explode from work!

(if this insults you, take it in deep regards that i am sorry.)

What? You had me right up to where you started talking about characters.

I'm a computer science major. I understand coding. I just don't like the Java language. Also, I would only be insulted if you knew me in real life. And a game designer doesn't do the same as a programmer.

Yes, but any good game designer can at least do a little bit of programming.

Still not the same. You have writers, designers and programmers (more to it, but a very general split). All of who focus on their assigned task. A designer doesn't program the game, that's what the programmers do. A writer doesn't program. The programmer programs. A designer doesn't have extensive knowledge of programming as a programmer would.

I didn't say that the designer is the same as the programmer. I said that a good designer should be able to program if necessary.

Should be able to program =/= Job is to program

I meant having extensive knowledge. Of course, most people who have anything to do with games know how to program, but you don't need to know code to get a job as a game designer.

I know that you meant extensive knowledge. I didn't say extensive knowledge. I never said that you need to know code be a game designer. I said you ought to know code to be a good game designer.
