Actually, a tsunami isn't really a wave. It literally is like a gigantic wall of water, that's why they can be so dangerous, it could be like a normal day at the beach when it comes. That's just from my understanding though.

But anyway, this is really horrible news. To be hit twice like that... wow. I suppose it could have been worse though, let us not forget the tsunami in Sumatra (think that's where it was?) a few years back.

I hear Hawaii got about a 6ft one, which certainly isn't good news, but thankfully they had warning and it wasn't as bad as it could have been. I heard that California/the west coast isn't in too much danger anymore either.

This was all very surreal to me, I was on the live #japan hashtag while it happened, and when it happened it just lit up with japanese users asking "WHAT'S GOING ON" and I was kinda like ... what? at first, but then I thought about the earthquakes over there and checked USGS immediately and saw the 8.9 and knew it was going to be bad, when I turned on the news I saw the Petrol plant explode... Terrible stuff. Nuclear reactor is failing as well, they're trying to cool it, but I don't know if they'll be able to. Also there is a lot of concern still that this is just a preshock to something bigger...

Things are still looking pretty bad. There has been two explosions in reactors at the Fukushima nuclear power plant, and apparently there was some radioation leaking after the first one. They're still trying to cool down a third reactor, but the cooling system has broken down.

They're now saying that the initial earthquake may have actually been a 9.0, and there's a 70% chance of a aftershock as powerfull as 7 magnitudes.

Deathtoll is rising pretty much constantly. At the moment the confirmed deathtoll 1600, and they've discovered about 2000 bodies at the beaches of the Miyagi prefecture. The expected amount of people killed is over 10000, with tens of thousands of still people missing.

Apperently theyre now guessing that theres going to be over 10,000 people dead....its so awful, not only for the people in Japan but those who have lost relatives...my boyfriend got told this morning that both his grandparents are missing...theyre house, where his mum grew up has been washed away....its so hard for him,and his little brother, whos my brothers best friend...and though we all know that they are probebly gone now...i guess we have to keep hoping.

Good news is that reactors #1 and #3 seem to have calmed down, #2 though caused another ra energy leak, and it's the one that they are worried about right now. Low levels of ra energy were noticed near Tokyo (might be above Tokyo as well? Not sure). Noticeable s also the Japanese Prime minister's reaction, who was notified 1 - 1 and a half hour later after that exlposion, raging towards the authorities of those nuclear plants in Fukushima asking what the hell is going on there.
And a bigger aftershock occured earlier, reaching 6.1 if I remember correctly.
