I'm not a huge fan of Harry Potter books but I thought this would be quite exciting. Well, I suppose it depends on how much you expected from the announcement. The extra information that she has been hiding may either be really boring or really interesting, we'll just have to see.

Eh, this is a little disappointing, I'll admit, but now I'm anxious to know what these "secrets" are. One door closes; another opens. :P

I've been a fan of the movies since they were first released and became a fan of the novels about two years ago. Although the announcement was a little disappointing (I was really wishing that she was writing another novel, related to Harry or not) I still find the idea of Pottermore interesting. Going through the books again, having this new experience could be something even more enjoyable for readers. I can honestly say that I am excited and intrigued by the idea that J.K. Rowling put together.

I know that Rowling loves her series as much as her fans do. That is why she keeps so much dignity with her story and her characters. This new idea though, does hold a lot of promise for fans.

I have to say I'm only slightly let down by this (only because I was expecting some other work of literature). The possibilities of what the "extra information" could be are keeping my attention rapt. But, at the same time, I puzzled over what she meant by saying that we were now an important part of the story. Does that mean we, the reader, are actually going to make decisions that lead the story another way? Or does it mean that we can insert ourselves into the story? Or is it simply just a roundabout way of saying that she wouldn't have been able to do this without us? Whatever it is, I'm looking forward to October ever more than before!

I think this is a really lovely idea, actually!

It sounds to me like the books will be online, and readers will be able to post questions on certain lines or sections--questions that can be answered by fellow fans or by Rowling herself. I doubt it will be any groundbreaking Harry Potter information, but fun tidbits and stuff. Plus it will make reading a more interactive activity--something I think is a terrific idea.

This could actually be very interesting and helpful. You can have mega fans answer the questions of casual readers. Rowling can explain something that even the mega fans don't quite understand.

It's actually quite a genius idea...

I'm incredibly excited about it. It'll be a great way to keep in the world of Harry Potter once the films are finished.

Also ... should this not be in Literature as opposed to Movies.

Well, this is the Movie/Media section. At the time of the I made this, the announcement was still secret. I wasn't really sure where to put it because it really could have been anything.
